My brakes are very hard to press as I dont have a booster. There isnt very much room for a booster on my pickup. how do you get a vacuum from a diesel?

Your perseverance is admirable. I have exactly the same problem with the same bolt (and from what I read in another comment I think it must be a recurring problem) but I chose to cover it and tighten the water pump with only the four remaining bolts. Anyway, I think your method is the correct. Kind regards

great job! I hope it works well after the effort. A while ago I saw a mechanic who, in extreme cases, advised gluing the joint with "locktite 515" (I don't know if there is an equivalent glue, he said only with that glue and a very small amount)

My Engine has a pump without a screw in this place. Only 4 screws?

Are they all floor shift? or is the 4 speed column shift?

Sir, I can only wish you good luck in this project. I am in a similar situation with my 504, but without all of your knowledge.

I have a 404 Diesel Pick up, xd88 engine. I know people have 5 speed gearbox in cars like mine, hear shifter at the column. In a french Forum, I read that only the ba7/5 can be used, and only if it comes from a 505 Break Diesel or a 504 Pick up diesel. I‘m looking for a 505 Break 2.5 diesel, I think the best engine for a 404 Pick up.

my pickup is the same orange color and RHD from S. Africa but now in California. I did think about turbo but you are right, there isn't very much room on that side of the engine. is this engine much more powerful than the original xd88? My mechanic wanted to do the engine swap like you did but I wanted to keep the column shift so decided to rebuild the original engine. I think my box is a bit different to the european 404 picks up and maybe different to yours?. I read some were made in Mozambique?

What engine do you have in this one? We, as Peugeot family, never bought the 505's and onwards, since the build quality was not as good under SIGMA. These 505'snever came with diesel engines here in SA. Only 2.0 petrol in different states of tune.

Love the blue color! My father had a 505 diesel wagon here in the US. In fact he had to buy another when he couldn't get parts for the first one. A white one and a brown one, automatics. Where did you get your hat? I need one like that.

Wow this is great. I almost went this route but was able to repair my engine. My pickup was originally from s. africa. Now in California. Same orange color.
