0:00:41 To Skip Introduction I am a VTuber but I figured everyone watching would rather see the actual gameplay than me, so I have hidden myself for this video. APOLOGIES FOR THE SCUFFED AUDIO! I am a streamer so my audio balance for this video is not great for this video, hence the captions at the start when the BGM is quite loud! I've never done a preview video like this so I apologise if it ...

The Emu War - A Vtuber History Lecture
I loved your vid...but on Deity mode, two hours in, and you have one city. 2:54:00 ... Save scumming. When you're not good enough for Deity...unsubscribed
I will pick this game up in 6 months at the minimum. There is so much missing content
Civ 7 seems more like a scenario with rigid directions the game wants to take the player, rather than the open ended civ versions from the past. Like why does everything have to revolve around "distant lands" in the second age? It feels forced.
I feel like if they fix the UI it'll solve the majority of problems most civ players have with Civ 7. A lot of people seem to enjoy many of the new additions even things like civ swapping and so on, it's just the horrendous lack of information and UI functionality that people find frustrating. Though I would also add I think the Distant Lands system is awful, The fact we don't get Pangea or normal 8 player maps because distant lands, The fact that it heavily incentivizes colonization, I get the historical bit they are going for but it again just takes away too much. Plus the idea of Splitting my nation over an ocean is not something I would've ever done in past civ unless it was late game and I needed to conquer the other continent's Civs. Where here it really feels like you are hamstringing yourself but not doing the economic or military legacy with distant lands. It also wouldn't shock me if loyalty was removed because they were worried Distant Land cities would just flip to the "Native" Distant land civs. It is by far my least favorite mechanic I've seen in Civ 7.
Good stream! Looking forward to more!
The fact a city-state/independent power not only conquered Rome, but then proceeded to burn it to the ground is incredible. Also that Rome got revenge by dispersing Ur, truly an eye for an eye making the whole world blind there. lol
Where are you in the video game life pipeline? Have you gone outside yet? I'm thinking about it but it's scary out there
I got to see at least some of this one live, but still good to be able to revisit. Thanks for the VOD Clio!
Ppl keep saying Civ6 haters will loathe Civ 7 but as a Civ V stan I will say I do like the Civ 7 implementation of districts bc I love urban sprawl as long as it looks natural and Civ 6 just doesnt. edit: ahhhhh! the greece music! I forgot about it!
14:20 Isabella having a Natural Wonder Bias is fair and balanced in the Spiffing Brit sense. 🏙🏜
Sometimes you just want a power fantasy, and a juicy Natural Wonder start in Civ is a great one.
it gets even better if you level her up to level 9, she gets memento that increases natural wonder yields by 100% more so if you start near good wonder you should get 20+ yields each hex.
ngl it looks like they ruined what they could ruin
I hate that kind of hot take. Its different. They put a lot of work into it and it shows, and they do have a lot of things they have to fix and tighten up but like EVERY Civ before it, they add new things and take out others but its typically a well done game and this one (as I expected after decades and seven titles) is no different. If you don't like change, load up the Civ you do like and play it. Don't crap on this one because it isn't exactly like the one you prefer with a new coat of paint on it.
How does the +300 gold when finding a wonder works ? Looks like u got nothing when found the valley of flowers
I really enjoy watching your content, and no, this is not a bot comment :D
That is what a bot would say 🤔
But maybe you are bot snitching other bots to pretend better :/
This video doubled my hype yield.
no idea why she doesnt attack with archers first to soften them up
This video was an excellent mix of the Clio experience. Lots of explaining and teaching, plenty of little humor drops and casual flexes, and no one one-guying. It's almost like the old days again. XD Truly though, great video, and a nice bit of editing in the beginning there. Anyone who skips it is missing out. Thanks for putting this together Clio! (Yes, I know it wasn't just for funsies, but still, it was fun and useful, so thanks!)
Hi, Must say I haven't seen much in any video to encourage me in thinking that the A.I's can defend themselves or employ tactics better than the last iteration. Those settlers wandering around during your war was just insane...one the one you attacked died I sighed with relief as at least it doesn't appear that players can capture them to get ahead as always seemed to happen in Civ VI. Thanks for this descriptive style of video. Cheers.
5:39 it’s a real place?!?! 7:21 I c that happiness has returned…. (Welp, time to play on lower difficulties🤷🏾♂️) 16:49 city-states ACTUALLY live up to their name, at least when they start out! 😅 24:56 AH! Lotty jumpscare! 38:43 “unpack army” (is this a new feature?) 53:37 City-States being removed from the map if their suzerain is defeated is an odd mechanic…. Mmm, I feel like changing into a new Civ would make more sense if it was determined by the geography of the land you’ve discovered/settled🗺️; seeing majority desert should force you to pick desert Civs or jungle with jungle Civs. (making scouts paramount for the best options early game, thus making them more useful!) Overall, love the preview Clio! I wouldn’t mind seeing one or two more videos about the game!👍🏾
I've watched a few videos (they have all been really well done, including this one) and I'm concerned the AI is kind of just making random choices and not really "playing" - an issue with Civ V and Civ VI. I guess most people don't seem to mind this, but coming off Age of Wonders 4 which has a wonderful AI this is a bummer and I hope it's just a poor showing randomly and/or addressed by some tweaks on the day 1 patch.
This might be the comfiest civ7 prerelease playthrough yt has recommended to me. Everyone else has been very shilly and fake persona-y. It's nice to see normal gameplay from a normal personality for a change. Made me actually consider getting the game.
Great video! Why did you not receive 300 gold when discovering the second natural wonder? You got it for the first wonder on turn 1, but doesn't Isabella get 300 for each one?
Hectic start - you didn't happen to have the map seed data?
More please
I love that stacking all the bonuses you can still doesnt out produce a volcanic field of flowers tended by a nature enthusiast
Hello, i am french and i find this vidéo relaxing, you don't cry like others when you speak, nice one !
Please do more Civ 7 videos upon release! You're commentary is very chill and comforting! And awesome to know that you also have a background in history! Only criticism I have is can you have your voice a bit more louder? Overall, looking forward to more of your Civ 7 playthroughs!
Asking the expert here: I wonder if there might be a hidden pro-play in switching capital at age change. It looks to me that Athens had become pretty yield-oriented with the double natural wonder and also Petra tile yields. It would be a pity to overbuild these. Plus, the city is landlocked, which might be a huge disadvantage in the exploration concept needing ships and all. I wonder if making this city a specialized town would have provided an insane yield bonus to fast develop a new city like Ji, which is actually a coastal town suited for exploration age activities. I would love to hear your thoughts on this.
Talking about how good Augustus pronounciation of a dead language is 🙃
very nice gameplay ✌️😉 thank you 🫶
It's so beautiful you are also an history professor, I hope to listen to some historical contents when proper (I always wandered if them could help for a strategy in the game). The antropological soul of Civilization is what makes it the game I love. I advice you, if its possibile, to plan the cities development on the map with pings (or just tell it thoughout the run) in order to keep track of your intentions because I don't manage to "read the map" as well as in civ 6. Personally, you are welcome in the community!
What do you think about the state of the AI ?
Really bad sign that the game is not even out and people can already beat Civ 7 "deity" ai.
Great video, subscribed. Either you made it look easier than it is or the deity AI looks a bit weak. Otherwise, game looks great, looking forward to it!
So glad i found this video. Really like your style and hope to see more civ 7 from you! Thanks for the entertainment!
Best preview so far! I'm worried about Deity AI...

I really enjoyed the commentary and style of play! Would love to see more videos of you in youtube 😁
Great video Clio! Love the take down of Cassius Dio as well. Who do you think is more untrustworthy between him and Suetonius?
Probably Cassius Dio but when you work in classics you take and analyse anything you can get
Loved the video, well explained thought process. Might have to follow to twitch!
As an American, we already knew about Ben's "Rules For Reducing a Great Empire to a Small One." In modern language, it's very low tone, but for the time, talking to the presumed ruler of his homeland, this was badass. Basicly he said that what England was doing was exactly what a sensible and intelligent ruler would do to shrink hs kingdom. He's the new Gandhi with nukes.
omg u r so cool! gained a new follower
All these boys putting all their army commander points into the assault and bastion trees and you go three straight logistics promotions. I love women. Logistics win wars. Cannot hit the subscribe button fast enough
Its really weird thatl think endless legend from 10 year ago have better vidual than this
Nicely done - actually amazing given you don’t “do this very often” as you just noted in your final comments before sign off! I enjoyed your play through and commentary - definitely a different “touch” than the other Civ7 vids I’ve seen so far - again well done! From my side, I’ve played every Civ game since it came out in 1991 and have gotten used to the massive changes that have been introduced in every new version but particularly since Civ4. I think it’s amazing that the earlier versions are still so much fun to play! I can’t wait to play Civ7 too!
I bought the deluxe edition in Canada. 130$+20$(taxes) 150 bucks ...pretty steep
What is "Mapflax" @3:52 please?
I now want to buy Civ 7 because of Clio Aite, perhaps even the MOST EXPENSIVE EDITION due to CLIO AITE and her WONDERFUL CIV 7 VIDEO.
(meets Ben Franklin who gives a diplomatic yet friendly greeting) Clio: Yeah, he's been very bloodthirsty in my other games (meets Amina who hurls threats and spits on face) Clio: She's actually a very sweet neighbour
Hahaha i thought the same thing 😂
OMG, those yields of the Valley of Flowers. They’re beautiful.
Five scout opener seems a bit much, especially when you're hardly even using their abilities. Which if I'm not mistaken is the only actual benefit they have over warriors?
