On trying to understand the Trinity I'm often reminded of St Augsutine walking along the beach at a time when he was working on his work regarding the nature of the Trinity. He saw a boy by the ocean with a spoon , filling it, then taking it some distance away to a small hole. Curious he asked the boy what he was doing. He said trying to empty the ocean into the small hole he had dug. Augustine replies thats an impossible task to fit the ocean into that tiny hole. The boy responded and you can never understand the Holy Trinity. Then he disappeared. Not suggesting the effort isn't edifying or that we shouldn't. But I'm confident we will spend an eternity in heaven contemplating God and only ever scratching the surface of His glory

I was a member of the atheist religion for almost 35 years. I lost the faith required to believe in theory and conjecture in January of 2024. I know for a fact Jesus is the real deal. The history i learned in school had me believe that all xstian is the same. I learned on my own that protestant, evangelist, and cath are totally different. The historical facts about the cath is what has so many good hearts turn to the atheist religion, believing that cath and protestant are the same cats. I am but an ignorant old guy that loves to learn anything and everything. The orthodox looks closer to historical accuracy (from what i can understand) . I'd love to be wrong about anything.

You don't get it. Christianity is not about a denomination, or a church. It's about Jesus and keeping his commandments. The true church of Jesus is spiritual and had no name, no localisation, no building. The main problem is that many of so called christians are not born again and are not led by the Holy Spirit. Jesus said, you must be born again, and you must recieve the Holy Spirit who will teach you the truth. Can the Holy Spirit tolerate idolatry? Absolutly not! You can't be filled with the Holy Spirit and stay in Catholicism because evrything is against God himself. Everyone can converts to a religion or a church, but being born again is only for trully repented and believer in Jesus Christ alone. It's very easy to play on words to suit your sin.

Your faith journey is very, very, similar to my own. I was an Independent Fundamental Baptist. I took Sola Scriptura to its logical conclusion, and ended up becoming a heretic. Then had questions the Baptist Doctrines couldn't handle. Started searching for answers and found them in the Catholic Church. Started researching the Catholic Church. Realized I had been lied to my whole life about Catholicism. Was uncomfortable with Catholicism, from 27 years of anti-Catholic rhetoric. Started researching Orthodoxy. Attended Divine Liturgy. Loved it. Best Christian community ive ever met to this date. But in the middle of Divine Liturgy, it hit me. This uncomfortable feeling. "I should be in Mass." Started attending a Novus Ordo Mass (only Mass available in a multi-hour drive) and converted to Catholicism. I say all of this to potentially spare you some trouble/time; make sure you aren't gravitating to Orthodoxy, because it's an easy "off-loading" spot for Protestants. Anti-Catholic sentiment runs deep, and I realized it was what was pushing me to Orthodoxy, when I knew in my heart Catholicism was the truth. A Priest named Father Eddie once hit me with this, and it cut me to my core: "There are three tiers to Reason: Ethos, Logos, Pathos. You're stuck in Pathos right now, the lowest Tier. Emotions. Make sure you're going to Church for God; not yourself, not someone else, not the community. Go to Church for God alone, and you'll end up in the True Church." God bless. It's a difficult journey, from Protestant to Catholic in 2024, but it's worth it. Friends and family may be upset about your choice; but do it for God, not them.

The term "Roman" Catholic is kind of a misnomer in some ways. It's just one part of the Universal Church. It's just "Catholic." The Latin part of the Catholic Church; basically the Vatican and the Latin mass (the most popular): That is the roman rite, so a Catholic that belongs to that rite would indeed be "Roman" Catholic. However, we have the eastern and western parts of the church: Latin/Roman, and Byzantine/Greek, Ethiopian, Melkite, Coptic, Syriac, Ruthenian, etc. We are all part of the same Universal Church. All in unity under the Holy See. All part of the church Christ himself founded. Grouping us all as "Roman" Catholic kind of discounts all the other parts of the world that are Catholic and not Roman. Christ's church is truly universal, as there are Catholics of many different rites, cultures, etc. But we are all ONE. One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church.

I'm Roman Catholic, I'm not entirely sure why this video was recommended to me and this is the first time I've ever seen anything of yours I'm pretty sure. However, all that being said, I'm grateful that you were willing to open yourself up to the apostolic faith and while online polemics may have you think otherwise there are far more things bonding RC and EO than the radicals on either side wish to admit. The Roman Catholic Church is made up of 22 Churches all in communion with Rome, yes including Eastern Byzantine rites. Even the official position of the RC is that the EO are separated brethren but still have valid baptisms, sacraments, and succession. That is to say whether you become RC or EO you would still be our Brother in Christ, so may the Lord Bless you, protect you, and lead you unto all truth. Go in peace brother, know that at least this Catholic does not hold anything against you.

I also recommend watching Christian B. Wagner (Scholastic Answers) to understand both protestantism and Eastern Orthodoxy on more complicated issues from the eyes of the Roman Catholic Church and the Roman Patriarch.

We as Catholics also have the Eastern Catholic Rites too. We are Catholic because we are universal amongst 23 autonomous Churches, which ALL OF THEM submit to the Roman Pontiff.

I was Pentecostal and now I am an Orthodox Christian. I went through more or less that same experience. I was taught a way until I decided because Roman Catholics also Orthodox have this some different belief. I realized it was not what the Pentecostal churches taught me.

Thank you and I forgive you! Praise God for unblinding and giving you the eyes of Faith. I reverted back to the Catholic Church. Keep seeking and asking God to reveal his Truth! We just have to humble ourselves to hear it and be wrong sometimes! Pax Christi! So many beautiful prayers in the Traditional Catholic Church, Divine Liturgy, Compline. I find beautiful singings and prayers in the Byzantine tradition as well. Eastern Catholics still under the authority of the papacy.

As a cradle Roman Catholic here, all I have to tell you is that Jesus created the Catholic Church back in 30Ad and one of the first Fathers Ignatius of Antioch wrote 7 letters to the seven churches and called the Smyrna church Catholic. Now the difference between Catholics and Orthodox is that Orthodox separated themselves from the Roman Catholics back in 1054 because they wouldn't follow the Pope, to which Jesus gave Peter the keys in Matthew 16:18-19 and made him a pastor in John 21:15-17. All those who don't follow the Pope are disobedient to God. So being an Orthodox is not the way. They don't have a complete church. Look into the Roman Catholic and tend a traditional Latin mass very beautiful and Holy. The original Christians are Catholics and the rest a wannabe.

As someone who is entering the RC Church this was a good video. We have more in common with EO than Protestants. Hope one day the church comes together.

17:00 The Incense is amazing! There is so much symbolism to it on many layers too. Usually, it smells like Frankincense, and they include myhr in the golden censer. There are plenty of videos on it which go into detail about this. Also, buy a book on The Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom. It will help you know the order of the liturgy and what is happening.
