I restored this old 18ft dovetail car hauler with a wash, paint, new lights and stain. My goal was to sell the trailer within a week and I made $550 with about 10 hours of work.
Water Transport Wagon Build
Переглядів 281 тис.7 місяців тому
Today I built a water transport wagon for my livestock. I needed a mobile water system to get water to my sheep and chickens. I used a kory 5566 running gear that was a hay wagon. Cleaned, primed, and painted. Then I cut cedar trees for the support beams. Easy, cheap water transport.

Fertilizing Pasture with Natural Compost
Переглядів 1,1 тис.8 місяців тому
Today I spread some natural fertilizer on our pastures and hay fields. The compost comes from our horse stalls, so the compost is only wood shavings and manure that has been piled in rows for several months. Fungus, bacteria and worms break down the manure to create a nutrient dense compost that can easily be absorbed by the soil.
Restoring a John Deere hay wagon (in hot pink?)

Complete restoration of a 1980 John Deere hay wagon. The running gear was stripped down, pressure washed, primed and painted, and finally fitted with a new wagon flat. It’s was painted pink at the customers request.
Needed to paint the complete trailer to call it a restore. Other than that it looks good
Wasn’t up to me. That’s what the customer wanted. Trying to save some money. I would have preferred to do the whole thing. Thanks though
what kind of screws did you use
Biden dollars
How do you deal with the title situations? Float or register?
How do you deal with the title situations? Float or register?
Why do all that work and sell it cheap 3000$ or 2800$ no lower you shot yourself on this flip
Just watched this video trailer and bits cost $1932.00 plus labour $567.97 total $2499.97 sold for $2500 no profit there deaf money 😳
Not a big deal, but you didn't use a pick axe. That was a grub hoe and probably a better choice.
Didn’t know that lol. It was my grandpas that I found in the barn
It's worth more and so is your time, don't undervalue your knowledge and skill
Kentucky gang 🐎
Nice!!
Thanks!
is there any legal stuff you have to do since you are working on a trailer? Does it need inspected or reregistered?
Check out my video “how to find trailers cheap” I go over everything you need to know about doing it too
Damn that welding shop is extremely affordable where you are at for all that work the welders here would have charged me 200$
Why would you inspire your competition by creating this video ? If it’s a good thing, keep it to yourself as long as you can knucklehead.
And if it’s posible the large
Hi my friend! I wanna ask you the measure between de fenders? I really hope that you can help me with this information and I would appreciate it very much. Thank you, greetings 🫡
82 inches between fenders
@@charliefarms1 thanks bro! And other question, you know what’s is the distance between the suspension?
Do you need any license or permits to sell trailers?
Not here in Kentucky
Hey dude great video! Any updated tips or tricks you’ve learned to make it any easier or faster overall ? Just got a 5.5x10 ft landscape trailer that i want to refurbish and bring back to life!
Strongly encourage you to charge more for this level of quality, the profit should double the initial cost, so you can start the next project without having to dip into your savings.
Thanks I appreciate that. Will be doing that in the future
I would have replaced every single board. They all look bad.
Unfortunately lumber prices are so high that it wouldn’t have transitioned to the profit. Around here people don’t want to pay a lot for a trailer
The guy who boughg it for 2300 got a better deal than you for 1600
I think it would be better to just buy all new board as long as the old board looks old and then charge double the amount the wood cost

Great job, enjoy your videos. I subscribe. How many angel grinder disk did you use ?
It took about 2-3 disks to clear all the rust
I love the cost breakdown and profit breakdown at the end. Good to know that it wouldn't be worth my time if I was doing it to make money, but I'm in the process of doing this with a trailer I own, so it was fun to watch 🤘🏼
Si 👍
Si es que 😦 es lo mismo pero bueno
I have a trailer that I need you to repair for me like that. How much would you charge me? I’m in Miami Florida.
1) good job working hard 2) you worked way too hard for such a small profit. I find it hard to believe you only had 13 hours in it. Finding it, driving to/from; fuel, time listing it, time talking to future buyers, time going to/from store. I don’t think you fully calculated. But I could be wrong.
Vey sloppy job as long as you’re taking time to dismantle why not paint all in its entirety
Wasn’t up to me. That’s what the customer wanted
Can't read? Within 10 seconds of the video he mentions what the customer wanted.
P r o m o S M 💕
It may be minute but, I feel like a $300 winch added to that would have increased the price to $3000/3250 for the trailer. Could have added more profit...
Did you repack the wheel bearings?
Ánd what about chassis? Why not paint With body chassis black 😮. And all wheels are nice and spare wheel rusty😢 nonono
The customer didn’t want me to touch the wheel or inside part of the frame.
Dam that looks so good
Did you have to rip a 2x8? My trailer has 10 7" boards and I'm wondering if they just shrunk from the 7 1/2 nominal dimension. I am rolling mine too! Way faster, thicker coats and it's a trailer, not building a watch or painting a show car. lol
Heavy equipment mechanic here as well as former tuck/trailer mechanic. Just some tips. The heatshrink solder connection needs more heat. The little solder ring in the middle needs to melt completely to be properly installed. You will think you are going to melt the heatshrink for how much heat it takes but as long as you aren't using direct flame you should be fine. That ring should look like a sliver blob or almost fully distributed through the strands is even better. This next one may or may not be useful anymore because last time I re-decked a small trailer like this was right when lumber was stupid high in price a few years ago. But I had some random guy in the parking lot at the hardware store recommend aluminum boat dock planks for re-decking small trailers. I took his advice and picked some up from one of the local metal supply stores. It was maybe a couple hundred more than wood to buy 4 24 foot planks to install on a 16' trailer. We had the planks cut into 4 16' planks with 4 8' planks we used in the middle, end to end. Ended up only having about 4" of waste, and a deck that should last longer than the trailer, as long as it isn't beat on to badly. The aluminum more than paid for itself considering that trailer is on its third deck. The stuff will hold some weight as well. Which was my biggest concern. I needed to move a 7K lb skid steer about 25 mi and I had no other trailer available. The skid steer also had a mechanical issue that caused it to jerk around almost uncontrollably which made it bounce around on the seriously over loaded trailer. I figured I had ruined the deck after that beating. Got the skid steer off a couple days later and the deck looked as if nothing had ever been loaded on it. I was seriously impressed with those planks. One last thing to add. I has some small cheap LED cube lights that I wired into the backup light circuit of the 7 way plug. You used to not be able to see a thing while backing up at night. Its not a problem anymore. I did all my trailers that way now, and for only about $20-$30 for lights and wiring.
Great video i just picked up a 18ft trailer. I'd like to do what you did. What kind of welding product you used and what brand degreser?
Spray paint lasts a couple of months in our climate. I've started just brushing rust inhibiting paint on with a paint brush. The lines left by the paint brush disappear and it leaves a pretty thick coat. Neither method has the UV stabilizers or hardener of automotive or industrial paint.
Spray doesn’t make a difference if you’re using good paint and do proper prep. I think people have bad experiences with rattle cans because the preparation isn’t right, or they don’t prep at all. I sprayed my livestock trailer almost two years ago and it’s holding up very well.
Looks good brotha! Pros and cons of rolling the paint instead of using spray gun?
Same thing! I like to roll it on if it’s a windy day and I don’t feel like dealing with the spray gun. Rolling is easier and it’s less likely you’ll leave drip marks or streaks. If you’re doing something like a wheel, spraying is typically easier because it gets in the cracks and the tough angles. But for a flatbed on a steel deck trailer I’d definitely roll it on. That’s actually what I’m working on now. Flipping a 18ft steel deck trailer. Rolling the deck and sides, then finishing the corners and cracks with spray. Using the same paint of course.
You should invest in the Bauer surface condition tool save you a lot of time instead of using the grinder to remove rust and paint
Hahaha😂 throw some paint at it got me awesome bideo
Why not remove the spare tire and paint behind that?
I did after I finished the rest, just didn’t video that part. Idk why I didn’t do it from the beginning lol
@@charliefarms1 Trailer looks great, good job on installing the boards, you made it look easy.😀
Looks good! That would save ton money better than buy new trailer lol
What paint are you using to roll on?
You should look into a Harbor Fright BAUER 9 Amp Surface Conditioning Tool. That thing will make quick work on cleaning off rust . Also look at the MCGRAW Air Needle Scaler they have, it is great for the tight areas along with getting the rust out of the corners. By the way I do the same thing in Georgia that you are doing. I enjoy it. Keep up the good work.
She is tough!
Remember everyone, a grinder and paint makes you the Welder you ain't.
What about title?
Man I hope I can find one of these flips from you one day
Great job sir. I agree with some of the others. I expected this trailer to sell for more. Adding the red and white reflective stickers would add a nice touch to your already stellar work. Thanks for the video.
why paint over rust?
