The Adapted Perspective business WHY: I improve your Sight and help you create a Vision that turns your Dreams into Reality. What does that mean? What are Sight and Vision?
“Sight is what you see with your eyes; Vision is what you see with your mind.” Robert Kiyosaki
**Yes, that's our real portfolio.
These Closed End Fund videos represent 1 way HOW we’re going to accomplish our Dreams.
- Our CEF portfolio is built on lasting dividends, not the gradual sell off of owned funds.
- We’re building a portfolio with the goal to retire, or supplement a retirement, through dividends instead of slowly cashing out the portfolio.
- If we target dividends, and not the traditional 2% dividends - I’m talking 9%+ dividends, we can keep our principal funds invested and earn dividends while we either reinvest the dividends or cash out the dividends.
Remember, your ship will go where you steer it. Do you know where you're going? Do you have a plan for how to get there? Do you want help with that? Check out the adaptedperspective handle on Instagram.

    I sold JEPI because of a reverse 3 for 1 split and nusi because what it is.

      We sold some funds out of the Individual Acct and bought BRW, FSCO, and CIF in the Roth. I'd like to add more NBXG and pick up some ETW, but that's going to depend on the discounts. Overall, we're still in Extreme Fear territory, which means there are some amazing deals out there.

    Thank for your charts. I’m looking at CGO . I don’t have any global funds. I don’t like return of capital. I’ve bought INCM because what is in it. It is different and not a CEF.Not enough return for you. I have TEAF. How about WDI? Too late to buy ARDC or PAXS or DLY. I have all of them. Thanks for your help and ideas.

      You're welcome! Thank you for the messages and questions. I've looked at that CGO, but I like the ETW portfolio better...plus they juice the dividend by selling call options. While I can't convince myself to buy TEAF...they invest in everything that depends upon oil but "hate oil" and are aligned with the UN on getting rid of oil, which would also get rid of all that renewable energy they're using - that rationale just doesn't make sense to me. The only reason renewable energy competes in the energy marketspace is because the government subsidizes it. Plus, those windmills destroy the environment and local ecosystems...not very green. That said, I did find TEAF inside the recent BRW semi-annual report. I didn't buy BRW because of TEAF, but it's in there. WDI doesn't meet the discount parameters. It's portfolio sounds like a varied play on traditional loans: "high-yield credit, collateralized loan obligations, commercial MBS, and bank loans". It's currently selling for a discount, but it's not a significant discount. What's your angle on considering that fund? of the Top 4 this week, 3 are bond funds: BRW (mixed bag of bonds and loans), FSCO (high fixed income corporate bonds in a $2B portfolio), and CIF (high fixed income corporate bonds in a $33M portfolio).

    I’m looking at industrial sector because no one is there. Could get a bump if trump wins. XSHD ,TEAF and TBLD has done good for now. Not 9 % but total return is good enough for me . Thanks for the videos!

    • @adaptedperspective

      Thank you for the feedback and the comments! Everything should get a bump if Trump wins! I can't sell myself on TEAF; they're invested in everything that uses oil yet hates the oil industry...just doesn't make sense to me. I understand the stock-bond hybrid play with TBLD, but it doesn't hit my metrics. That said, if it's ticking the boxes in your strategy, then keep trucking!

    We might be in a 10 year go no where market. How about a sea change in interest rates. The government might be trying to justify the national debt by inflation . of prices of goods .

    • @adaptedperspective
      @adaptedperspective 7 місяців тому

      In somewhat reverse order. (1) The Fed is attempting to justify their ongoing handling of their bungling mistakes. (2) 1 rate cut is now projected...chances are it's right as people come back from summer and the school year starts. Maximum number of people home and back to paying attention to the news. The Fed needs people to pay attention, cause they want to keep their jobs. "Look how well we've managed the economy! We cut rates!" It'll give the current power structure some good optics, especially as most of society has a short-term memory issue and won't recall that the Fed caused the high rates...and the MSM isn't going to tell the herd that info. (3) I don't care which party is in charge; there's no way to justify the National Debt. You and I cannot survive with that much debt; the US economy cannot survive with that much debt. The problem is Congress kicks that can down the road for someone else to solve it. In order for the economy to thrive, someone - hopefully Trump cause it's not going to happen otherwise - works toward paying down/paying off the debt. (4) The market is moving. There's gains to be made away from the herd; you just have to find the deals...which is why I love buying closed end funds, cause you can scoop deep sale prices where the herd isn't.

    I like ECC, EIC and GOF flat or rising dividends and level to increasing prices

    • @adaptedperspective
      @adaptedperspective 7 місяців тому

      If you buy ECC now, you're paying a premium price. You can do that, but that's not my jam. EIC is above my price point, and you're also paying more for it that it's worth. GOF is also premium, so it doesn't make the Triple Asterisk/crazy discount list right now.

    • @rodemrick3437
      @rodemrick3437 7 місяців тому

      @@adaptedperspective I bought all those last December at a lower price.. My two cents on premium and and discount to NAV. assuming and efficient market. CEFs selling at a discount means they are not in demand (for what ever reason) so the price goes down to make them more attractive. High demand will push the price up into a premium. In my mind I will pay more for the better product if i have to. My criteria is simpler than yours . Flat to increasing price. Dividends flat to increasing . GOF (5 star morinigstar ratiing) has paid 0.22 a month since 2014. that's a winner. I wait for a pull back and buy more when I have the cash ...

  • @rodemrick3437
    @rodemrick3437 7 місяців тому

    FSCO i own and is a favorite on my list. A rising divided if only since 2022 and a rising price . BRW is a no the price just keeps declining. Maybe a small bite in HGLB and cut it if it continues down.

    • @adaptedperspective
      @adaptedperspective 7 місяців тому

      I like BRW on its own; I also like that they're pushing and shoving the CEFs to up their game. Few can force BlackRock to change, but BRW has. They're also making moves on other CEF boards. BRW (Boaz) believes CEFs have shirked shareholders for too long; instead of just complaining, he's doing something about it...and the ripples are spreading. Nuveen/cefconnect.com has taken BRW and SABA off their list of "all the CEFs" on the market. BlackRock has increased their dividends. That tells me Boaz is doing something right. Besides, our game plan is focused long-term and not on the price bumps in the short-term.

      TBLD's discount is close to the 3-yr average, but the dividend is sub-9%. The discount is interesting but not enough to make the triple asterisk list. The price is above our $16 limit, and the portfolio is spread thin across all sectors...too diversified for my liking.

    • @adaptedperspective
      @adaptedperspective 8 місяців тому

      MEGI - Global fund; > $1B in assets. CBRE fund that targets a lot of everything else besides RE; predominantly a utility fund. Hits all parameters [sector focus, discount, dividend cycle focus, dividend yield, price point]. Thanks for the idea. FLY - Not a CEF WDI - Bonds and loans; doesn’t meet discount parameters RQI - Doesn’t meet discount or dividend parameters RNP - Hopefully, you got great deal. Currently, besides it being a real estate fund, it doesn't meet any of the other parameters: discount, dividend cycle focus, dividend yield, price point.

  • @williamstoker8027
    @williamstoker8027 9 місяців тому

    What you think about ROC? Almost all of my CEF don’t have any. FT has the most ROC . I agree with you philosophy.about investing. I just don’t like tech. What you think about Howard Marks , Jeffrey Gundlach, ,Bianca research , and David Hunter . Thanks

    • @adaptedperspective
      @adaptedperspective 9 місяців тому

      (1) I honestly don't track ROC, just ROI - and I track the dividend ROI, fund ROI, and total ROI. Outside of tracking the general ROC through the discounts, ROC is hard for me to calculate in CEFs because you don't always get the info in one place. (2a) I'm looking for historic discounts, long-term plays, monthly payers, and monthly payers who can sustain or grow that dividend. As for tech, almost all society is tech. It comes down to where you want to invest in the tech field. We're invested in oil funds, energy transfer and tech transfer (think AMT, CCI, WELL), and high tech use or data management funds. (2b) Instead of buying chip maker TSM for $141ish/share, we're going with NBXG for $11.70/share. I can buy 12 whole shares of NBXG for just 1 of TSM. That share price is going up, and the discount is slowly closing. The fund pays a consistent monthly $0.1/share dividend [>10% right now], and the fund holds TSM + NVIDIA & ASML in its top 10 holdings. (3) FT seems like a decent Utilities fund, maybe a great fund if you scooped it at a historic discount. (4) I enjoy Gundlach. We own one of his funds (DSL) and have no plans to sell it. (5) If you want some counter analysis, look into Brett Owens. You can catch his scoops for free on RediNews and sometimes through The Online Investor newsletters. Otherwise, check out his Contrarian Outlook group. The basic membership is the only service I pay for.

    Also interested in rental properties for accumulative passive income, but it's hard to predict the opportunity cost of going 100% stocks instead and ultimately which strategy would be more fruitful and "passive" in the long term.

    • @adaptedperspective
      @adaptedperspective 9 місяців тому

      Part 1 - It's important to define passive. Passive in the stock market is a set it and forget it concept, however it's still active monitoring. Passive on the Real Estate side of things is passive because it's tax-free (Kiyosaki); I like that version better. What most wanna-be digital marketers say is passive income is earned income through a bunch of hard work and is taxable income. Set it and forget it stock market investing is earned income. Real Estate investing is passive. You pay the bills, manage/legally offload the profit, and passively gain tax-free wealth and tax-free income.

    • @adaptedperspective
      @adaptedperspective 9 місяців тому

      Part 2 - If we speak in generalities (which I don't like doing), the stock market generally goes up. The same is true for the Real Estate market. So, if we throw out generalities and the hoped-for stock appreciation, we're left with dividend ROI. The annual yield in our brokerage account is 10.18%; the annual yield in the Roth is 12.89%. Regardless of the Fed, Inflation sits at a healthy 4% in a good year. When you look at RE, you have the opportunity to build greater wealth through the 4 Types of Income built into owning Investment Properties. Check this out when you have a chance, then check out the 12 steps I write about 5-6 days a week. facebook.com/groups/navigateyourfinances/permalink/1243117216321353/

    Can you recommend a source of learning material for people with no or very limited investment experience to understand investing more? I feel that self education from reliable source material is probably very important, especially considering the number of get rich quick guru's who seem to spam every social media platform with there adverts

    • @adaptedperspective
      @adaptedperspective 10 місяців тому

      You can try my FB page. I have some posted files, including this one (see link). In the file, I display a snippet of our investing strategy using Closed End Funds while also overviewing introductory terminology; I also offer 3 websites to help you in your learning. Of the three, I'm on the mailing list for The Online Investor and pay for the basic membership for the Contrarian Outlook. I started with a financial blog before moving things onto FB and YT. Generally, the "get rich quick" videos and such are gimmicks to suck you in and get you to buy more materials/videos/access/etc. They play on your fears of not having enough and use those against you, then make you feel like their "solution" has a limited time frame and make you feel like you have to buy it now. I hate that stuff. facebook.com/groups/navigateyourfinances/permalink/1232504097382665/

    I believe Steven Selengut has around 250 CEFs on the go at any given time which he liquidates at profit eg. realises gains and either starts a new position or adds to an existing below cost basis. His take on diversification is no position above 3% of the portfolio to diminish the impact of an unlikely but possible event that a holding collapses into obscurity.

    • @adaptedperspective
      @adaptedperspective 11 місяців тому

      I've not heard of Selengut, and that's a very different take on diversification. I get it, but diversification to diversify spreads your money and limits impact. That said, it's his strategy and not mine.
