Middle Age Skateboarding - I'm Back After An 8 Year Break!
Переглядів 58Місяць тому
Hey guys, welcome back! I'm a middle age skateboarder. So I quit skateboarding in early 2017 after taking up skateboarding late in life at 44 and having only 1 year of total skateboarding experience. Quitting was mainly because I tore my knee MCL, and my work was physically demanding on my legs. I missed work for 2 months after my injury. And my older son ended up not really liking skateboardin...

But I'm going to try and push my skills further this year and see what I can accomplish. This was filmed in September of 2016. Hi everyone. I finally beat the drop in at Vanderhoof skate park in Toronto Canada! For the last 2 months after my 7 hard slams I was very depressed.(See this horrific video here: ua-cam.com/video/0-6gHgsnVaU/v-deo.html) I went over it again and again in my head and watched the video at least 100 or more times trying to figure out what went wrong! Well this last Monday I went back just to watch...

FLASHBACK! Embarrassing kiddie skate bowl first drop in! - Random Skate Clips #1

FLASHBACK to Spring 2016 when I was a brand new skateboarder in search of that elusive and terrifying first quarter pipe drop in! I was scared to do it and a really nice guy offered to support my arm while I "dropped in"...lol. While it was barely a quarterpipe drop in, it did start me off and allow me to tackle higher drop in's and bowls. ALSO: In this vid - A few random skate park clips at Tw...
Eighth Street Skatepark Walk through tour - Etobicoke, Toronto, Canada

I was downtown with my son so I wanted to take a tour of Eighth Street skate park in Etobicoke, Toronto Canada. This park was built by Newline Skateparks. The main attraction of this skatepark for me is the peanut shaped pool style bowl. It looks amazing! This park also has some nice ramps and bank style quarter pipes in a plaza style skatepark. I will be trying to drop in and skate that bowl i...

Hi guys. So after successfully going higher and higher on my quarter pipe drop in's I finally reached one that presented a real challenge. People still skate??? It's been 25 years since I wore my K2 Fatty Pros
what size are they?
They are EU 43-44 and I wear a 10.5 shoe. They fit perfect.
these skates look decent!
Hey bro! Yeah they seem to be working out well for me. They are cheap and seem to be holding up, even with me falling on them a lot. They are basically USD Sway 57's with a slightly cheaper liner. But the most important thing is I can wear them for hours with no pain at all. I have a wider foot so I'm pretty happy about that. Thanks for watching and commenting man I really appreciate it. 🤙🤙🍺🍺You, Ricky and all your buds are amazing aggressive skaters. I gotta escape the wife sometime and come watch you guys all skate.
Loving the Playlife Reactor Skates still guys. 🤙 Like & Subscribe 👍to see my aggressive skating progress. Thanks for watching. 🙏🙏🍺🍺

Thanks, I really appreciate that! 🙏🙏🍺🍺 Ya we need to all get out there off the computers and cell phones and jump and play while we can. Hahaha. 🤙🤙
@@AWS-Blading exactly man. Keep it up!
Keep at it man. 🤘
For sure, thanks.
😅 im with you man.. im where you are.. but ive been skating for 20 years. Here for tour review after watching that same best skates under 250 dollar video. Used to just roller blade before started skate boarding. Maybe im going through a midlife crisis. Or i just need more excersize. Nice video
@@rhinusbreedt9772 Yeah its definitely kind of a mid life crisis for me but I've always been into extreme sports. My main hobby when young was bmx, downhill mountain biking and racing motocross motorcycles. More recently I started rock climbing and skateboarding but now I am enjoying blading at skateparks the most. The problem is at 53 my body is getting worn out. But I do the best I can and I'm having fun.
@@rhinusbreedt9772 I also did a 30 hour follow up on these skates. Check my vids for it.
@AWS-Blading big up to you man. Keeping young and doing fun stuff. I love extreme sports too. Also rode mx for a few years. Now skating.. and racing 10th scale offroad buggies lol. Gonna pick up a pair of these and head to the skate park. I love too many things haha. Will definitely check out all your videos. Keep skating. New sub right here! 🤘

No Jay Adams?
The one who enjoys it wins.
You are right for sure! Thanks for dropping in and commenting my friend. 🙏🙏🍺🍺😃😃
Just picked these Aggressive Inline Skates up! No I haven't quit skateboarding again! 😂 I just wanted to see if I can't get some low grinds in with these. Also I want to give my stretched calf a rest from pushing. It's an overuse injury. So like and Subscribe guys and I will see you in the next boarding or blading vid. 💪💪🍺🍺😃😃
It’s good to see you back at it man 👊
@@hamellsk8 Thank you!🙏🤙🍺🍺 Skate till I die or cant walk. Whichever comes sooner.🤣🤔😕
I'm back and still stupid, but older and stupid! 😂 And I'm loving all the content from the later skaters that started since I quit skateboarding! Post up your middle age skater channels below. I will definitely sub you. 🍺🍺🤙🤙
Welcome back, I need to get back on my board too, it's just been so hot..
Hahaha! My first comment after 8 years is from my other brother Darryl! (old person saying from the 80's 😂) You are the guy who inspired me to get the higher drop ins back in 2016! I mentioned you in my video's back then. Thanks for commenting brother. 🙏🍺🍺😃
Clickbait.. This is not "Dogtown and Z-Boys" That is a good movie made by stacy peralta. This is a cheap documentary made by Stanley Swackhammer. called "Skateboard Kings" . Total clickbait in the title.
What I wouldn’t give to go back to 70s…
30:43 literally got so dizzy that I puked why they spinning so hard
Its like it was made for business men to see how they too can make money off skateboarders.. This video reeks of sellouts.
People with a business mind will always look for an opportunity to make money.... It's not a "sellout" it's just capitalism . DEAL WITH IT! 😁😁
@@sirrobin8814 I feel like I probably dealt with it 30 seconds after I smoked my first joint after leaving this comment.. Or at least I totally forgot😁

Pretty rare in 1978 for sure.
Geez, when blond people lived in Southern California. Orange county---Tustin--1972---was absolute paradise for a 12 year old growing up. Left that year never been back. Maybe one day the hands of time will go back.
They’re all in south oc now

I'll give you damn close.😉
Oh man, I love to go back to this era!
The woman at 9:00 could be played by Frances McDormand
13:17 $58.46 in 2020 would be around $230. Kid got a gold plated skateboard
One of my earliest memories in life... it looked so futuristic in comparison to everything around...
The mom at 9:40 looks so scared and nervous lol
Watching this gives me chills... Born and raised socal. San Diego 619.... I miss home man. ALOT!!! Living out in soFlo now and you can't even skate the boardwalk in Hollywood beach FL!! Wtf is that man!!!
Yeah, Fla totally different than Cali.
For a minute there, i thought Ray Flores was Willy Ames😂
Hi men, do you still skate?
Hey brother. I learned to skate and did it one season then in the fall I was at an indoor park and tore my knee MCL. I didn't skate for 8 years after! I just decided to come back now after 8 years. I should have maybe waited a year and came back but I moved on to other things. I'm back now at 52. I just dropped in to a small bowl today for the first time in 8 years.
SUPERB!!! Love the 780p quality, too. Thanks! Brings back a ton of memories as a 13-yr old riding the concrete waves.
Makes me want to build a mini ramp. I haven’t skated in several years, but I was terrible at transitions anyhow lol. Are you still at it?
Just got back after an 8 year hiatus. Sorry for the 5 year late reply.
Cool dude. Nice big drop ins. Would love to see where you’re at now. Still skating a lot?
After my first year I had a really bad injury and tore my knee MCL. Havent skated much since. Gained 60lbs. But going to try and make a comeback this year. Im also battling arthritis at 47 years old. Its not easy wanting to be a skater in my condition but Im going to try again this year. I will probably make vids again and an update video. I will make my vids public again but Im going to try and hide my identity a bit more. Im worried my work will find out about how I hurt myself.
Man just found this! Sick music and good content !! I subscribed!! Keep shredding man you got it! If you get a chance hit my channel back and let's keep tearing it up !!!
Yeah! You’ve got that drop no problem. You still skating a lot? Can I ask why you took all your videos down? I would love to watch your progress!
My vids are all there just unlisted. I was making great progress my first year until the spring of my second year. I had a rain day from work and I was at an indoor skate park. I just got there and was on a little 4' bowl and I got lazy and didn't drop in properly. Well I ended up doing the splits down the transition with my front foot still on the board and my back leg bent sideways at the knee. I ended up tearing my MCL in my knee and missing work for 3 months...hahahaha. After this I panicked and took my vids down in fear of my work finding out how I really hurt myself. I basically lay in bed for 2 months. Gained my weight back and only skated a few times since. I have dropped in again on a 6' quarter but my confidence has been shaken.
Dude! Hard core!! You should totally share your journey. 6’ drops still terrify me. Now I definitely want to see more!
Hey man! I learned and skated that one year then had a BAD injury. I didn't skate again for 8 years until now. Just dropped into a bowl again now at 52.
Originally jimi Hendrix played at the pipe skating
Yeah I had to out something else in there because of UA-cam copyright BS.
Boy ! Ray Flores good actor ! Him deliver lines goodly .

Hey exactly I'm 53 an there's nothing that stops me I might look older but I'm on the go I also live in Ontario Take care M8 Jimmy
Exploring and bottle collecting with Jimmy Hey Jimmy! Lol...how did you find this channel? I'm the CacheMole on my other channel.
Wow that park looks amazing will you be skating there next summer?
Just subscribed bro Im a 37 year old guy learning to skate again. Its fun but i aint a kid anymore. All respect to you Your helmet is sick too! I have a Tripple 8 but that's a different model i think.
I wish I started at 37. Im 46 now and I'm not a really healthy 46. My joints are bad especially my knees. I have been diagnosed with arthritis already. If I sit for awhile I am in pain getting up. I also tore my MCL in my knee at the beginning of this year which slowed me down. Im doin the best I can but because of my physical condition I have kinda missed my skating window of opportunity so to speak. My first season was good. No major injuries and big progress. This season wasnt good for me with my knee injury. I havent skated much lately. Also my work is physical so that tires me out. Maybe next season will be better but I have gotten to a level that I cant push much further because if I hurt myself again the lost time at work is too much to bear.
Adult World Sucks i hear ya. Just have fun. Ill see ya out there sometime!
Skate Dad Are you in Toronto?
Adult World Sucks im in the midwest US.
I like that park ! I skated it few time on my ontario trip over the years !
Hey bro! I'm only 6 years late on this comment, didn't skate for 7 years. Just dropped in today again.

How on earth did you find this?
Very nice bowl & dope video! :) Wanna support each other? :)
Wooow! This bowl looks sooooo nice! That curb thing on top seems fun! Awesome to see you're still at it man! Way to go!
Garry C Yeah great bowl for sure. This was filmed last year. This year my progress has stalled from my MCL injury. My confidence is shaken. I have dropped in to a 6' bowl since but it was a little sketchy. Im avoiding drop ins until next season. I have been practicing front side carves in the mean time...I want to be able to keep my momentum going.
