Rocky Mountain Race Week 2024, Day 2+3, Ennis TX
Getting the Mach-E from Tulsa to Ennis TX, and we try to set it on the index class number to hold our lead in the class. We run into a bad charger along the way, and are the 2nd to last car down the track as we try to hold on!
Pardon the editing skills, working on making better content as we go! Appreciate you all watching, and please do comment on what you'd like to see more of and what I can improve on, I appreciate the feedback!

    What model number is the fuel it sensor? They have a couple. They only show for 2.3 ecoboost. So would this be the universal with 3/8 connections? Also it asks on site what size sensor small medium or large? Which did you get?

    • @BigAlsGarage
      @BigAlsGarage 5 місяців тому

      Hi Don! Sorry this is a bit late, hopefully you have found a solution, but if not I do recall having to work on that factory manifold/tubular header a bit, to the extent of modifying 1 tube if I recall, as well as putting the header firmly in a vise, then heating up another of the tubes and then slightly bending it inward towards the engine/trans, so that it cleared the frame rail. It wasn't too bad that I recall.

    Yikes. How far out of the way did you have to go to charge? That doesn't seem very efficient at all.

    • @BigAlsGarage
      @BigAlsGarage 5 місяців тому

      Luckily, the charging station was about a mile from the actual destination. Efficiency, if you compare it to a gas 1/2T of the same trim level, it's actually quite a bit cheaper in terms of MPG when comparing apples to apples. However, it's all about location of the charger and if they are near your destination to where you can charge while you are going about something else, that's where EV's shine on road trips. However, having to sit and wait to charge with nothing else to overlap, is where it's inconvenient for sure.

    Just so you know you are not fully loaded for a truck. If you have to pull any kind of trailer or put weight in bed you loose a lot of mileage with weight. I can’t call it an actual truck I call it a get around town vehicle.

      It was a GEN1 F150 longblock, with Mustang gen 1 intake cams and oil pump. Fuel system was Walbro 255 in-tank, installed in a 1997 Crown Vic fuel hanger assembly which was return style, using LS1 corvette fuel filter with built in regulator which set the fuel pressure at the Coyote's required 55psi.

      Is there any particular reason you went with short tube headers instead of long tube? I am doing the same build and I would like to get your input. Thank you

    • @BigAlsGarage
      @BigAlsGarage Рік тому

      @@marcfoster98 the only real reason for the factory Mustang shorty headers was ease of availability and price at the time (swap was done back in 2015ish). The LH side fit without modification using 11-14 Mustang factory shorty's, RH has to be modified slightly on 1 tube, and slightly bent inward (I heated up the tubes and used a bar to slightly bend it inwards).

    Good video! Is there any harm in charging with the truck on? Does it take longer vs leaving it off?

    • @BigAlsGarage
      @BigAlsGarage Рік тому

      Great question! Unfortunately I did not have enough time with this tester vehicle to check the charge time while in run mode, vs charging with vehicle off. I would assume, that would depend on how high of capacity charger you are connected to, as it's likely that the truck would then split the incoming charge accordingly based on how much % goes into battery, how much % goes into keeping A/C and accessories running. But, I have no facts on this at the moment so it's merely my guess.

    • @seanmivey
      @seanmivey 8 місяців тому

      You can charge with the truck on, no problem at all. I do it all the time. And even with the AC crankin, you're slowing down the charge speed by like 3 kw out of 130ish kw. It's barely noticeable. It might take another 2-3 minutes to charge with the AC running the entire time. I think the heater uses a bit more energy, but I still doubt it would add more than 5 or so minutes.
