The Arkansas Diamond Miner
United States
Приєднався 19 сер 2019
Welcome to my Channel! I visit the Arkansas Crater of Diamonds State Park often and have found several genuine rough Arkansas Diamonds. I decided that since many of the people I meet are unsure of what to do to find them, I wanted to begin to chronicle my experiences and provide a bit of information for those planning to find their own diamonds. I encourage viewers to like, subscribe, and comment about videos. I also ask that if you have any subjects you wish to be covered in a later video, please leave it in the comments or send an email to thearkansasdiamondminer@gmail.com . You can check the video descriptions for links to the tools and equipment that you see me using in the videos. Thank you, and good luck on your hunt!

@@Mineralmining-q9m to be honest, I cannot remember. I am not the greatest at keeping gravel from each trip separated. I have several buckets that I still have not checked yet
They have just plowed the grounds today. Where is the best place to look for the diamonds? Or what dirt will be the best to run??
@@kimballmcafee3589 if it just got plowed, the concentrated gravel has been mixed into the silt until the next good rain. If there is any gravel in the streams, run that. Or, gravel that other people have left around the wash stations can produce diamonds. This is because many people do not have the right technique and miss them.
@TheArkansasDiamondMiner thanks tomorrow is our last day here, so I hope we can find something. I watched your video right after I sent that message thanks for making them.

Hello! Glad you are coming to town for a great experience!! I would suggest reaching out to some local mine owners for guided digs. There is a new mine called Pine Ridge Crystals that may have openings. The mine in this video is an Avant Mine, and I am not sure if they still offer guided digs but they would be who to contact.
It's not a park. It's a diamond mine. You should be two hundred feet down by now. With a billion dollars in diamonds in your pocket.
@@AirConditioned 😂. This heat is BRUTAL!
@@TheArkansasDiamondMinerit definitely is. But, if they took an excavator or a bulldozer out there and removed the top ten feet of dirt to get down to the next layer of gravel and diamond, it could be as hot as it wants.
It seems like they'd bring in a back hoe to turn the dirt once in a while.
I started mining at Crater last weekend. And have wet sifted the 3 times I’ve been so far. I ended up buying a set of screens and a suruca from Crystal Towne there in Murfreesboro. What’s the lengths of your screens? Did you make them yourself? I got the regular size square ones and I have to make some or find some longer
@@RedneckHillabilly I think the set I have is 16x24. I bought them from Diamond Classics. Have you tried the Muddy Miner Saruca? These are super light weight but designed to be rigid. I have had one of mine for 3 years now and still no issues. These screens will make a huge difference on volume for you. I hope all the videos help! Hope to see you there!
@@TheArkansasDiamondMiner Thankyou sir I appreciate you responding and maybe see you out there some time!
@@TheArkansasDiamondMiner I just ordered a 20 mesh saruca Should I have went with the 16 mesh? I know it would let the silt out quicker What do you recommend?
@@RedneckHillabilly honestly if the gravel is already cleaned in a screen set, you should be good with a 20 mesh for centering heavies.

What is the most expensive stones you have find?
@@TedSmatha I have never put a value on anything I have found there, although I have found some beautiful stones. I dont keep them so they might be of more value to those whom that I gave them to.
I really enjoy watching your videos and trying to learn new techniques and tricks to explore. I’m only been to the crater one time and to me it was just a trial run to get to know the weather, terrain, and the area around the crater. I was there 2 weeks ago. I’m not sure if you still monitor these comments but if so I have a question. Does the size of your wash tub matter. I’m using a 1 1/2 foot x 2 foot x 8 inch deep container and when trying to make a loaf my material tends to come higher on the saruca closest to me to the point of over flow and not much material if any on the farthest part to the point of bare screen. I tried with less material and the same happened. P.s. I’ve been looking thru your and other UA-cam videos and haven’t found a general overview of the part. Like from standing at the entrance ramp where is the north, south, west east drain, snake pit, or other areas that ppl talk about in there pages. I’ve watched some of miner Ivins UA-cam and he talks about the west, east, north drains and the snake pit etc. but nothing that says when you come off the entrance ramp you want to look for “blank” when looking for this area.
Hello! The size of tub can matter when it comes to the use to center your material. The off-center center is usually just due to a lean when you work the material or tires arms or shoulders. Also, make sure you have enough material in the saruca. It needs to be about 1/4 inch or so from the top. The water in your tub needs to be clean though. If you wash material and make the water soupy with minerals and silt, the specific gravity will be a little different and you wont have as good of centers. Always center in clean water if possible. Be sure the saruca bounces on finger tips and hands are on opposite sides directly across from one another. I hope this helps, please let me know how you do!!
This helps a lot, I had my wife watch me and she said I was trying to force it rather than just letting it happen. When I slowed down some I was able to make a loaf a little better. With more practice I’m sure I’ll get it. Thank you for your help.
@@cofficer2123good deal! Good luck on your next trip! I hope to see you holding up the big one for the reporters!!😂
@@TheArkansasDiamondMiner I hope so too. I’m planning to be back down there Aug 10-12th. Maybe I’ll see ya down there and can get some more pointers. I had a dream the other morning I found a 12.5 caret yellow 😂.
Where did you get your wooden classifiers, is this something that can be purchased? Can it be purchased locally (murfreesboro)
I did get these from a local business in Murfreesboro. There are a few places to got them, I would recommend that if you invest in a set, get stainless steel mesh type.
I love your videos man. I am going next month for my anniversary and I feel so much more well prepared. I hope I find my wife a diamond 💎 I only have 5 days. Again, thank you for all the information and techniques

Will you post a video of what to do with the box of goodness we can order? I have a box on the way and am going in blind lol I have watched your videos about field work BUT when I receive this box of goodness I may be lost as what to do at home with the “virgin” material. Thank you!! 😊
You’ll need to break it down a bit with water and time. Some people crush the lumps with wood. Remember this is material that has not been uncovered as long as Crater of Diamonds, so it will take some time to break down.
@@TheArkansasDiamondMiner thank you so much for your quick response. I appreciate all your tips and helpful videos. This box will be my practice run. It will probably be September before I make the trip alone, and I hope I’ll have some treasures with me 💎
I love the nice quiet rv park! Cant wait to go back! I love Hot Springs, too! Everything is manuel. You cant bring anything motorized inside the mining firld
Yes!! Beautiful camping areas and good hard work searching for diamonds. Makes for a good vacation!
Getting dizzy looking at your camera ground scans.
Shoot, I was getting dizzy filming it. That sun is intense😂
We are getting ready to make a trip there. Is there any way we can get in touch with you to ask some questions
I do have an email listed in the “about” section on my YT channel, feel free to reach to me there!
With so many people looking, the larger diamonds must all be gone.
There are larger ones found almost yearly. Many feet of loose soil lay on top of the hardpan, and that hardpan is slowly softening, constantly freeing more diamonds as well. So thousands of tons covering almost 40 open acres of search area with nature slowly adding more searchable soil, we’ll never run out.
Dry county no alcohol for a long ways.
I have just started going to the creator. Im about 1 hour away hoping to find one sometime. Maybe i will meet you out there some time and learn a few thing. My two young kids love the mud my son asks to go back almost everyday. Realy like the videos. Thanks for your time
I am glad you enjoy the videos! Its awesome that the little ones enjoy going with you. Hope to see yall out there!
What size mesh should I get in my saruca
I prefer the 16 mesh. If there is any silt left in your material, the 16 mesh will let it pass through quicker than the 20 mesh. The opening size is a tad larger, but a diamond that could pass through a 16 mesh would be very tiny.
Curious, are you still using these? Just a week before I discovered your channel I had gotten a set of 9 from a different brand I think but when I tried just one of them I was disappointed. The mesh is cupped upwards making it hard to center material and stones get stuck in between mesh and edge of frame.
I do not. I was able to classify with them, but they didnt work to center very well due to the cupped screen. After all the effort to get there, find and work all that material, I decided to quit using them. Now I have Muddy Miner Sarucas in 1/4, 1/8, and usually a 16 mesh. I found a beautiful 4 point yellow my last trip, last flip of the day with my 16 mesh.
@@TheArkansasDiamondMiner we will be down for our second trip in three weeks. Although I would be extremely excited if I found just one, I’m looking forward to the ‘hunt’ and to see if I’ve learned anything from all your videos I’ve been watching. First trip was a surprise trip from hubby and we knew nothing.
@@vivalaketo5617 good luck on your upcoming visit!
Hello! Just recently discovered your channel and binge watching many of your videos. I haven’t seen yet where you mention the tubs you use for setting up a wash station. Where you get them?
I got these from a farmer who had horses. I think these were mineral tubs. I started washing at the wash station more frequently, and also started using the barrels. It got more difficult to rent a storage pen and became easier for me to just use a wagon to move equipment in each day.
I was recently down there for 2 days. I saw some of the same people the second day but nobody using 3 screens. . I believe also 3 screens would be better, but it would nice to see other people doing it or have some videos on UA-cam. People using 3 screens.
Very few people use three screens. Its mostly just regulars, who are a small percentage of the visitation at the park daily, who use three screens to process material. I hope you had some luck out there!!
Hi, Do you remember where you got your 1/8 th inch? I have been searching online and am struggling to find that size stainless steel mesh to make a medium like you did. Thanks!
I cannot remember where the 1/8 came from. I had to make the screen box and had ordered the screen wire. There is an option to use a 1/8 Muddy Miner Saruca to cut the size when you center the heavies. They stack and you can actually center both at once when you get the hang of it. The 1/8 is only available on the website right now I believe.
Hey Solomon this is Jason from Minnesota I’m the guy with the big beard lol I just want to saw it was a pleasure to meet you and to think you for all the videos you make an continue to make. 😊
It was great to meet you, thanks for the support!!!
I have a question for you, what do you know about metallic glass being found at the crater, is found 3 pieces and had them identified by the workers and that’s what they told me it was, just want to know your thoughts
@@jasonrowe4574there have been many years worth of bottles and various types of glass left out on the field going all the way back to the commercial operations there. It is more likely to find something like tempered glass or burned glass than a diamond I think.
There is a farmer that has kimberlite on his place in the Lawrence area, and they've found diamonds there.
I have heard about a couple pipes nearby I believe. I was not aware of the diamond finds but I hope to visit again soon, maybe I will be in the creeks again😂!
The Kimberlites are near Manhattan and do NOT contain diamonds.
i like to use a cookie tray, so i can really get my eyes closer to the material. i also do literally a spoon full at a time. it does take time, but thats sort of the fun of it haha. works for diamonds, and i have found, really well for Montana Sapphires
I am trying to plan a trip to hunt sapphires this summer! Have you visited or do you order the buckets?
@@TheArkansasDiamondMiner i got boxes of ore from a mine in Yogo Gulch via the site that Glen Worthington shared. i wish they continued the program, but i think they were working on mine development for a while. so i haven't got any more boxes since. BUT, i would LOVE to go to some locations in person. i know of at least two places that have gem finding activities. though i dont have the exact info on them. should be able to look them up though. happy hunting =)
What do you mean order buckets 🪣
Some of the sapphire mines will ship buckets of material for you to search at home.

That day is rainy. I d be looking on top. These dudes dig all day then lock it up. Come back next day and wash. I have learned that. Wash 20- 5 gallons of prime material for maybe a 💎. It's a numbers game. Majority of finds are ppl who did this every weekend and got cages. Tell me I m lying if not
Well, I have been going here since 1998, so I have seen several people do different things. Some visit for a week at a time, some weekend every so often, some even camp year round and alternate digging and washing. Prime material is getting harder to find every year, people have been getting into it for 50 years (1972-present), so the easy stuff is scarce. The cages stay rented out long term now, but that was a good plan prior to that. I used to stay two days at a time, load a cage the first then wash the second day. Its all in how you want to do it, and all works best if you have a plan, learn the ropes, and are able to apply the basic concepts.
How many diamonds do find in a month? Can you show a video of you finding diamonds at home when shifting fines?
I only visit occasionally, so there’s no monthly total. I can usually count on finding one per weekend if I can go through enough material in the two days. I have an upcoming video showing how I search my take home gravel.
Thanks for answering my question and look forward to the video. Do you just collect your diamonds or sale them?
@@leisa-millerharrison8226I usually give the diamonds I find to my kids or grandkids. I have never sold one, but occasionally donate one to a good cause.
Excellent video, my friend! 40 buckets in a day is IMPRESSIVE. That's a lot of work!! I hope you get a couple of diamonds out of all that material!
It's almost pointless to a newbie. Yeah the thrill right? I d rather go to cossatot and have fun. Somuch beautiful scenery. Take the kids to look for crystals around Ida or one of the pay mines. Ron coleman. Better yet head up to Heber and catch some trout.❤
Thank you for videos! Very helpful! Headed there end of week. How do you go through the 5 gallon bucket once you leave? TIA Lots of Brotherly love from the Philly PA travelers.
