    Thanks for sharing, I appreciate to see also which issues might find as I am considering to do this solo. From my comfortable sofa :-) I would suggest to leave the panniers at home and get some dry-bag for your seat. We normally don’t use half of the staff we bring anyway. Panniers are not noticeable at high speed but can make you loose your balance at low speeds.

    • @advgnome

      The Antenna... Well, let me be absolute honest. Until this day, I have never really experienced a difference whether I have the antenna out or not. The CARDO can still play music from the phone or connect to other cards with the antenna in. The only thing that could be improved (that is my best guess) is the reception of the built-in FM Radio. But I have never intentionally used the FM radio.

    Great video. Some years back I tried TET Italy without any experience on a big adventure bike ( KTM 1090 R). I made it as you and learned as well on the hard way. I booked an off-road training and learned so much about clutch control and balance that was amazing. I did part of the track one year later where I failed before and it was easy going. Thanks for being brave and sharing this video. Failing is not an issue as long we learn and try it again. Well done Alex

    Bikes like this do N.O.T belong on the TET. This is getting rediculous... what kind of riders do find the project and then just think because they have the GPS-Tracks should go with heavy and mostly unprepped bikes.

    • @advgnome
      @advgnome Рік тому

      Thank you for sharing your concerns about the choice of bikes on the TET. It's important to remember that adventure bike riding is diverse, and there's no one "right" bike. Riders have various skills, preferences, and reasons for choosing their motorcycles. The TET offers a unique opportunity for personal growth and skill development. Many riders start with limited off-road experience and improve as they go along. What might seem challenging can be a rewarding adventure. Let's celebrate the diversity within the adventure riding community and support each other in our shared passion. What may appear "ridiculous" to some is an exciting adventure to others.

    Sehr interessant zu sehen was passieren kann. Wir sind gerade gestern zurück gekommen von Sardinien. Auch für mich war es das erste Mal und auch ich habe es ein bisschen unterschätzt. Was ich mir aber eingetrichtert habe war: „Geschwindigkeit hilft“ und „nicht anhalten!“. Mein Setup war eine BMW R1250GS mit Alukoffer und Topcase, meiner Frau mit 45 KG hinten drauf und meiner Wenigkeit mit 170kg. Mein Vorteil war sicherlich, dass ich meine Maschine samt Gepäck alleine aufgehoben bekomme. Anspruchsvoll waren einige Passagen an Bergpässen die zum Teil sehr ausgewaschen und voller Geröll lagen. Aber ich bin angefixxt und möchte bald wieder ohne Frau hinten drauf loslegen. Du scheinst aus Deitschland zu kommen. Wenn du Lust hast können wir ja mal zusammen fahren. Grüße

      Ja, Geschwindigkeit ist der Schlüssel zum Erfolg. Ich war dieses Jahr noch einmal dort, und wer hätte es gedacht, mit mehr Geschwindigkeit und ohne Filmausrüstung ging das plötzlich wirklich super. Vor allem, wenn jetzt die ersten Kratzer an der Maschine sind, ist es nicht mehr so schlimm, wenn sie noch einmal umfällt. Ich werde auf jeden Fall wieder hingehen. Mittlerweile bin ich aus der Region Wien, Österreich, aber das sollte kein Hindernis sein. :) Nicht vergessen, lackierte Seite nach oben Gummierte nach unten :)

    how to sound when compared to Packtalk Black and Edge/NEO is it the same?. Because the speaker is Black 45mm while the Edge/Neo is 40mm. I'm confused about choosing Packtalk Black or Edge

    • @advgnome

      The EDGE/NEO provides superior sound quality due to its updated audio profiles, and the 40mm speakers are compatible with almost all helmet types. There have been reports from some individuals stating that the 45mm speakers were too large and required foam adjustments within the helmet. However, Cardo offers 45mm speakers in the "speakers" category of their shop, should you prefer them.

      The pressure pump is still functioning flawlessly, and I have not encountered any issues with it so far. However, the inline tire gauge hasn't aged well. After my trip to Sardinia last summer, I had to dispose of it since it became unreliable. I wasn't able to obtain an accurate pressure reading anymore. Therefore, I replaced it with a digital inline gauge.

  • @Goathead85
    @Goathead85 Рік тому

    That's a unique gage. Great that you can inflate through the gage so you can see the pressure. Where did you get the gage or can you give a name/brand please?

    • @advgnome
      @advgnome Рік тому

      The gage is great! you can get the "MOTOPRESSOR INLINE TYRE GAUGE" either directly from the rockycreekdesigns web page. But if you prefer the inline gage to be digital, I recommend the "Topeak Shuttle Digital in-line tire gauge" you can get it at "eastbound.shop". I have changed to the digital one as I have a better control over the pressure in the tires.

    • @advgnome
      @advgnome 2 роки тому

      Well, basically yes, you have to create groups with the edge in order to group with older devices like the Bold. You are not able to join a group (that was created with one of the older units) with your edge. According to the Cardo systems support Quote, "PT Edge can not join the existing group. It is designed to be the admin. There is a need to create a new group." Creating a group with the EDGE is fast and reliable when creating a new group with the older units.

      I was able to resolve the problem today. I went online to download the CARDO updater to my computer. Still wouldn't connect to the app on the iPhone. I finally figured out the I needed to go to the apps on the phone and enable the Cardo app to use Bluetooth. What are your impressions now, after having had more time to use it (hoping you did)? Do others hear you fine? Is the mic volume low (a recurring theme with Cardo units)? Any cut offs while talking to other participants in DMC? I've seen reports where users would say their audio gets cut off every now and then in DMC with just one other participant, and they are close to each other. They also claim that radio signal and range are significantly lower than on Packtalk Bold, probably due to no antenna? What's your experience with these? Trying to make an informed decision before upgrading from Freecom 4x :)

    • @advgnome
      @advgnome 2 роки тому

      I am very happy with the Cardo and even upgraded my wife to it. Let's go into your Points. - Others here me fine, but that always depends on more than just one factor. Example we have one in our group that I can barely hear, and when we swap the devices (Packtalk Black) it got a bit better. But he is not using a full face helmet and has the mic directly in the Wind. We adjusted his settings after that it was better. - We did not experience more cut-offs than with the Bold or other devices. The distance seems to be a bit smaller than the previous ones but I cannot verify that as it always depends on the surroundings. - What does annoy me is that joining a existing group almost never works (older devices being the group admin) If you (EDGE) are the group admin pairing works super fast and is reliable. But the other way around that is a totally different story. my personal opinion is that I would never go back.

I love how I can finally communicate without any problems with the cardo and my phone (Volume Up/Down/next track/ call someone or dictate a message and so on). I also love that i dont have to fold out the antenna anymore. If you want to use the voice commands rather than pressing a button then you should definitely consider changing. But if your are just looking for better sound then you should invest in the 45 mm speakers, and then you can still upgrade at a later point. No matter how you decide i would love to hear what you went for.

      So I habe testet it today on my tour. I was going on the Autobahn at around 120kmh and I was able to create a new calendar event, dictate a simple message (regular message asking about the plans for the next rides), call a friend and play a specific Radiostation without any problems. With the text message however I found that it wasent 100% perfect. Also the voice commands towards the cardo were 95% successful at this speed. I was only using Siri and don’t have a android phone. The call quality was cristal clear and on the other end they did not realize that I was on my bike riding. I will have to try that again with my special edition black to get a better comparison but from my experience today I would say that it is a lot better.

    It is a heavy motorcycle and you have to stand on such a route on your motorcycle and not sit but maybe an off-road course is something for you.😉👌🏻

      You are absolutely correct! Every mistake I could have made I did 😂. I had a week long off-road training planned, but covid had other plans. But I will definitely do the training as soon as I can and it is available again. 👍

    As a solo cyclist can I use this device to listen to Bluetooth streaming music or FM radio, have the music interrupted to hear driving directions from my iPhone navigation app or take a call while listening to music and navigation both easily? Can it do it all? Thanks.

    • @advgnome
      @advgnome 2 роки тому

      Yes, you can stream any music directly from your phone via Bluetooth or listen to the build in FM Radio. The EDGE manages the audio sources you hear through the speakers according to the following audio source priorities: GPS device instructions, then phone calls and last Music or Intercom. You can start or end a call via voice commands, your phone or the speed dail function with the edge. If you stream the music from your phone and have the navigation on your phone as well, you will have to manage the audio levels on your phone.

    were those whitetail deer running by in the background?

      These were probably just deer, as they are running around in our area and also come into the gardens all year around.

    Hi, nice video. I see that you mount Ax41 tires; how are they on asphalt and off-road?

    • @advgnome
      @advgnome 2 роки тому

      Thanks :) The AX41 are work perfectly on the road even if you try to get it down in the corners in wet conditions I would not corner too fast. The singing of the tires gets louder the closer you get to the end of there lifespan. Off-road they are very good! Love the handling and how nimble they are, even with low psi. The downside is that the tire only lasted 6000Km.

      @@advgnome Thank you! Do you remember that PSI you had on and off-road?

      On the road I drive with apron 36PSI and in the dirt deplete as much as I need.
