Day Three Stalking Rutting Red Stags On The Isle Of Arran, James's First Stag
Part three of my deer stalking trip to the Isle of Arran. This was a quick morning outing, before James had to get back for his ferry. We spotted deer early on and it was my plan to get James on to his first Red stag. James has had multiple opportunities on Red Deer but the moment has never been perfect, this time it was.

Day Two Stalking Rutting Red Stags On The Isle Of Arran
Переглядів 2,6 тис.21 день тому
Part Two of my deer stalking trip to the Isle of Arran, after the previous morning success, we made a plan for a full day deer stalking on the hill. The morning started off slow but after some radio communication from my dad, who was on the other side of the hill, we had a great long stalk into a great malform Red Stag. This was our most challenging drag of the ground yet, but gave us a great s...

Part one of my deer stalking trip to the Isle of Arran, after last week success on the reds in Argyle. I made my way back to my ground on the Isle of Arran, during the back end of the Red Stag rut. We was on to a good stag from the moment we got out the car. As always shotting the deer is the easy part getting them off the hill is the challenge. Part two coming next week don't forget to subscri...
Red And Sika Deer Stalking During The Rut

This video is part one of a 10 day deer stalking trip. Starting with a few days after Sika Stags and Red Stags. This is my first time stalking this ground, I didn't spend a lot of time filming. The Triggercam 2.1 let me down with the kill shot, sadly the light conditions was too low. This is not the first time i have had this issue the camera does not like low light condtions. After this video ...

Taking a break from deer stalking this week and got out on some pigeons. This is my first time recording with the shot gun, i think next time i may invest in a Shotkam the go pro worked great but remembering to press record was a challenge in its self. I got a good bag of pigeons and decided to film a little field to fork this is practise for future videos, so if you like it drop me a comment a...
August Bank Holiday Red Stag Stalking On The Isle Of Arran
Переглядів 5 тис.2 місяці тому
This August Bank Holiday, me and dad took the chance to get back on the Isle of Arran to do some deer stalking. As always, we had a mixed bag of weather conditions. After arriving on the back end of a storm, we pushed through and managed to get out on the hill three times. There were plenty hinds moving about, but the stags seemed more reclusive. Don't forget to like the video and subscribe to ...
Deer Stalking During Roe Buck Rut
Переглядів 3,1 тис.3 місяці тому
I got out with my dad deer stalking with the intention to call in some Roe Bucks. This is my first time succeeding calling in a Roe Buck to shot. The reason for this is I never seem to catch the Roe rut right on my grounds, never even seen any evidence of it. This time was different, the rut was well and truly in full swing. I am no expert on Roe buck calling so if anyone has any tips please le...
Bergara Range Day Testing Some Rifles For Deer Stalking And Rabbit Control

Thankyou to Lewis from Bergara rifles and Ian from Artemis Outdoor UK for the invite and thankyou to Cotswold Sporting for providing the range. I was invited down to the Cotswolds for a range day organised by Bergara rifles and given a chance to shoot some .22lr and 6.5 Creedmoor rifles on a range up to 600 yards! I had a great day and a few rifles stood out to me as potential deer stalking rif...

Nice work lads the dreaded drag 🦌👍
Tbf the drag makes the experience haha
Well done James, not my cup of tea up on the hill but fair play to you both.
Arran is a labour of love haha
👍
Ace, liked the natural atmos on the intro, that must of felt ace getting James in and on to his first Stag well done 👍, really great content, see your still rocking the S20 I’m the same they get heavy on the shoulder after a few hours but I do like mine. Bet that pint washed down well 😂.
@WEEGIMEDIA Long time coming had james on a few beasts just wasn't right for him, it felt great getting him in on one. The sako s20 is perfect rifle, in .270 the weight takes all the recoil, just makes it difficult once you've shot the deer and need to drag it off haha
@@thecigarsmokinghunter Aye that looked like a long arduous extraction, what did he come in at weight wise ? 90 ish Kg ? Bet you washed down more than the one pint after that 😂.
@WEEGIMEDIA he weighed 84kg wasn't as big as the stag before, but was a longer drag haha
Good stuff mate 👌🤙
What cal James used?
.270 for me, james was using .308
@@thecigarsmokinghunter best to go with on reds 👌
@razhuntingandoutdoor .270 is the best all round round. James is thinking of moving to it
@thecigarsmokinghunter I'm thinking of getting something chambered in .270 or 30.06 for big game
Great stuff, you'll sleep like a log 😊.
We did was alot of work for these last 4 videos haha
Great video,well done 🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌
Cheers mate enjoyed making the last 4 videos
Nice work on the stag mate 🦌👍

@@thecigarsmokinghunterayyy he's a lovely lad, inside and out
Broken during growth stage.
Cheers mate. I don't come across many malforms
Well done , can’t wait to join you on Arran when hopefully BASC get the tender
@jonathanwright670 hopefully they get it bob and chris, run it so well.
Great video again thanks 🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌
Cheers mate as always appreciate your comment
When I watch footage like this, I have often thought about come back home to England. Before I left, some thirty plus years ago (I'm in NZ), I hardly heard anything about the deer population! Now these seems to be a plague of them in the UK. Was the land private? I'm 71 and I have just come back from a two-night hunt staying at Spurs Hut on DOC land. I could have shot two reds, but I was after Tahr. When making video's, it's good to know what rifle and calibre you are using. Anyway, well done and thank you for sharing.
The deer population in the UK had increased, but no where near the levels of NZ. This was private land. I'd love to hunt in NZ public land.
@@thecigarsmokinghunter I'm no great hunter, I left it too late in life I'm 71 this year, but if you do decide to visit, I would be happy to put you up and point you in the right direction. But be aware, NZ hunting is so much different to the UK, for best results, your fitness will need to be up there, mainly because the easier DOC hunting areas are normally well hunted!
Great video,well done 🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌
Cheers mate glad to see you keep watching
Nice video pal that’s something I have always wanted to do hopefully the opportunity will come one day
Cheers mate
Nice big stag , easy part the shooting hated the drag out Nice work 🦌👍
I get a even bigger stag on the next part and that's a longer drag haha
You weren’t arguing with your dad were you? I’m just not having that😂 Good work
I'm sure you've seen it 1st time enough times haha
great vid as always, please continue to upload what you want to
Thanks, will do!
What make off quad sticks do you use great vid keep them coming cheers.

Are you still using the sako s20 in .308
@@hannigan40 sako s20 in .270
👍👍, sorry man, thought it was 308, I have one myself in 308 and was wondering what ammo you use for reds great video man 👍
@hannigan40 I've been using sako blades non toxic I think they do them in .308 aswel

Got a brill jacket for shooting do you have a P.O. Box?
Unfortunately, I haven't set up a P.O. box bit appreciate the thought mate
👍👍🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️👍🦌👍
Lovely stuff. Do my pigeon in the field and leave the “bits” for kites, etc. Thanks for the vid, loved it.
That's a great idea
Nice work on the winged rats mate I'm the same rarely touch the shotgun pal bang on 👍
Winged rats? A great disservice to a fine quarry species.
Brilliant video. Definitely want more field to fork videos
Cheers mate, I'll be trying to do.some in future videos
What bleach are you using?
Borthe 12% 40 volume I get it from amazon
Well done - very honest video, there's a lot of pressure on sometimes when you have had to travel as far and the expense etc to get a shot. Sometimes its not to be.
Always try to tell myself there is always next time. We are back on in October hopefully get some roaring stags
Hello sigar smoking hunter ! I like your video's a lot and love watching them, I am sorry for you that you were caught in such bad weather and also have to suffer from that miss. But I do have a question, is it true that your reticule is not level in your scope or do not hold the scope level while shooting ? Of coarse I am an subscriber...
@bertcremers3134 hi mate it's the trigger cam attachment on my eye piece of my scope, some times I need to focus the scope and means the camera is not in line with the reticle, and thanks for subscribing appreciate it
@@thecigarsmokinghunter Thank you, That's cleared !
@@bertcremers3134I was thinking similar but not to do with the scopecam but assuming the trees are upright you must have the rifle severely tilted over. This will explain your miss also.
@@Tallltim Aparently the same thouhts, I first thought that the scope was not mounted properly level, also not quite in focus, these are things that disturb me during hunting , hence my reaction. verry honest of our smoker (☺) that he also is fair enough to mention a miss...👍🏼thumbs up tor those guys.
@Tallltim the trees at a angle because the whole ground is a pretty much vertical incline there is no level ground, the scope cam can rotate 180 degrees around my scope as to allow me to focus so some times the reticle will be twisted.
You're doing better than me, mate. I can't even get the cross hairs on a deer at the moment 👍
@danumoutdoor I think the weather has been odd this year, we havnt really had a summer and I think the deer have had there patterns effect by it, alot of my roe havnt been as active as they normally are
Great video mate you was fighting the weather wind rain looked horrific 🦌👍
@popnmeg cheers mate. Hopefully October will be better weather and the rut will be in full swing

In that clag they’ll be couched up in cover as you know, but nothing gained sitting indoors . Happy to give you good Pro tips on your sound in those windy conditions 24 years as a location sound recordist all over the world so I know how to get clean audio in far worse 😉 . Don’t know how to reach out apart from on here but know how to get your audio bang on no matter how shat the weather is 👍. My pop took me up Goat Fell as a babby I’m from the up there but now down here in the SE and the Fallow Bucks have been like phantoms right as the 01/08 until the other morning I started seeing them so I’ll be on them this week thinning the shat out 👍
PS keep it real as you always do it’s refreshing compared to the majority of product placement vids floating about 👍

Have been eyeing up the Crest and Wilderness Thumbhole, like yourself I shoot an S20 in 6.5 CM, deadly accurate but the stock lets it down and if out pulling an all dayer so to speak the weight makes itself known, that said the build quality is spot on and have doubts about changing, if it’s not broke n all that…
Exactly how I have been thinking, but I think I may take the plunge
@@thecigarsmokinghunter @Chris Parkinson reviewed the Crest with carbon barrel recently and Peter Moore reviewed the Wilderness Thumbhole Carbon also Bruce Potts, for a bit of tech spec and reference 👍
Would have been nice to see more of the rifles 👍 Also is there an agenda by scope manufactures to stop having to make MOA scopes, all i hear now is range in meters, mil and mil..always been a yard and MOA man,i guess cheaper and easier to make just metric scopes.
This was my first attempt at a media event like this, so I was a bit nervous about interviewing. Hopefully, with more practise, I can get more information across. I understand about meters and yards like yourself I've always used yards even though at school everything was taught in meters think it's something I picked up shooting with my dad haha but thanks for watching.
We had range cards next to the shooter in both Yards and Meters and the required elevation so they could dial it themselves if they wanted to. The Zeiss optics we had for the event was both in MOA and MRAD with a good selection of reticles from Duplex to the S5 ret of ZF-MRi 👍
