This video is made in loving memory of Thor, who was my dog and best friend since I was a child, and whose loss at the end of last year still hurts me to this day. However, he will stay by my side in this channel for now, and forever in my heart. Thank you for everything old friend, and Godspeed.
PS: Huge respect to Cesar Millan and the fantastic work he does with dogs. He even adopted Holly, the dog that bit him in the linked video, and she was completely reformed. And since the story had a good ending, we can have fun with it and be a little goofy ;)

23:27 this could be done but it'll be $70 have half the national dex and will come out in 2035 do you still want all this?
BuT, iT NOw iS mORe CoMPetItIVe.
Sword and shield single handedly made me fall out of love w pokemon
7:04 Surpassed ONLY by Mario. Tetris: Am I a joke to you?
I stopped playing the newer Pokémon games as it lacked the charm, the Stadium games had. I think there’s a timeline where the new 3D games were given the same love and attention by the original team behind the Stadium games, would’ve been amazing.
I personally say, “Reboot everything after Black and White 2”
One of the craziest things to note as well: The people making Colosseum had almost no knowledge of Pokémon while they were making it, and they still made a banger.
It was always like this, nothing new
The A.I. Sada & Turo's strength. Can't hold a candle to A.I. Inity's.
This video is way more relevant now, scarlet and violet were the most uninspired and boring game yet. And the graphics even got worse. Pokemon fell off
13:41 why did she do that?lmao
I said when that game came out all I wanted was a full console game where battles were like this. Well I did get a console game. That, I did get.
What a pathetic video Who didn't even stand one year before being laughed at
Years later nothing has come close to XD
Meanwhile the boomers pokemon players said they don't want animation, because "it will take too long." Why don't they play card games if they hate the animations so much.
7:58 that was in the pokemon live action movie
4 years later and nothing changed. But then again, for ever 1 smart consumer who recognizes a bad product, there are 80 more who will buy mud and call it gold. There is no fixing it.
I am not going to deny that the animations in Colosseum are better than SwSh. But dang it, I love SwSh.
I think there is another aspect to it: a generational preference. I am 30, and I love pure combat, some nonlinear storyline (but mostly linear), and a target that makes me feel mature and tough. Gen Z and Alpha seem to like a more open-world aspect and do not mind the lack of combat or a simple story. Take for example the Last of Us franchise. The first part was enjoyed mostly by Millennials and some Gen Z'ers with similar inclinations. It had a great story but focused mostly on combat and puzzles. The second part focused mostly on story and interactions. This is the case with God of War as well. The earlier, more brutal parts were liked by Millennials and Boomers. Gamefreak is now trying to appeal to the latest generation of consumers who like the open-world gameplay with almost no emphasis on gym battles and leagues. I myself still wish we could go back to the format of gym battles, puzzles, bad guys, and leagues. :D
It's 2024 and this aged beautifully. I'm in my 30s. Pokemon games have lost their touch and has still been going down. Screw Nintendo and their greedy corporate ways.
It’s funny that coliseum’s animations came from the Pokemon stadium games. (Obv. not 3rd gen Pokemon.) I wouldn’t mind if they reused the animations from battle revolution for the Pokemon up to 4th gen.
all I want is a pkmn game where we can go through every region. They don't even have to change the story. Just make it THE pokemon game and game engine. Slowly give all the pokemon interesting animations in battles, and constantly build on it and it alone. Each region could be DLC, or maybe a subscription aspect. Give it some base building, some crop-farming, some controllable pokemon flight, a couple vehicles, a battle tower. Make it easy to obtain the exact stats and moves needed on the mons. Maybe make breeding the #1 way to get the exact right pokemon through dna-sequencing or something. Oh yeah, and give it MMO features.
Reminds me of Mojang/Microsoft and 4J You have Legacy Edition by 4J. Polished, stable, and fun. You can tell they were passionate. You have Bugrock by Mojang/Microcock Microtransactions, super buggy, horribly optimized, and a slog to play. It reeks of corporate. Sadly we live in a world where the old is better
Gamefreak is just a bad videogame developer and their success with Pokémon was a fluke. Don't agree with me? Name, from the top of your head; non-Pokémon games that they've made. I'm confident that, AT MOST, a small minority of you might come up with a handful of games that are all either obscure and forgettable, financial failures or a combination of the two.
The only hope is the pokemon legends type game. U got to agree that legends arceus was a breath of fresh air. Not sure why they resorted back to the old style after raising hopes by given us legends arceus. Hope the next legends game and other gens follow its foot prints....
It doesn't matter. With the way fan ingenuity is moving, fans will eventually make rom hacks that bring back the great graphics in the 3D setting and even bring significantly better stories. There have already been too many pokemon 2D rom hacks to count, and now a rise in 3D Zelda Ocarina of Time rom hacks shows that we are figuring out the Nintendo 64 graphics and soon the gamecube.
Yes it does. They are feeding us shit and expecting money in return.
Banger 💡🙏
Interesting to see colosseum almost stand up to SWSH
I wonder if the games could've been improved if they released remakes on new consoles first so they can figure out the hardware. Of course, this probably wouldn't have satisfied the need for new pokemon.
that’s why colosseum is the best pokémon game
Old pokemon was art 🏆 Modern pokemon garbage 🚮
Old Pokemon was not art. It was the entire museum.
How much time Ibhave to say it? Modern pokemon is a garbage 🚮💩
I don't think it's any coincidence that the Pokemon games became lazy and uninspiring as soon as Millennials and gen z, generations with some of the worst work ethic we have seen in a long time started working at gamefreak
I like the standard rpg battle system personally. I don't see any need to change it anymore than they already have.
Great video; the TL;DR: 11:19 - 12:07.
Id rather have the visual and stability problem of current games than the absolute shit game design philosophy behing the old gens.
bro how do you get 11 videos with 3.6k subs HUHHHH did you use too do something else besides this video that help you get hear or did you buy the account that had no videos one or the other my friend buy a youtube channel that had 2000 subs so he wont have too regrind another friend of my privated or deleted so many old lets play videos is doing videos like your self those lets plays videos help him get too 4000 subs he can do another content . what did you do no way you can get 3.6k subs with 11 videos you know how thats a slap too a face with my friend how is a legit 3.6 k subscriber own channel he uploaded like 2000 videos too get where he at thats just lets plays WHAT AGAIN WHAT YOUR STORY did you private or buy this acoount to not put in the hard work ?
Pikachu is so iconic that even non-Pokemon fans recognize it right away instead of Eevee
I was excited to buy a switch and play the new pokemons, until i found out they sucked. Ill stick with the oldies as they were better made
Damn on tv all we heard was cheering and "this is awsome" pathetic
6:05 nice editing
Cant believe scarlet and violet managed to get themselves done ever worst
Very informative even all this time. Glad the algo surfaced this to me. Too bad there are no new videos.
A few things you missed: *In Sw/Sh (and since Generation 6), Hitmontop has been shown STANDING UP, whereas Colosseum (and Stadium 2, and Battle Revolution) properly showed him balancing upside down on his head spike like the Sugimori art and older game sprites. *In Colosseum (and both Stadiums, and PBR), Blastoise has a special "double water" animation for Hydro Pump that shows the water coming out of both of its shell cannons like it's supposed to. Since Generation 6, there's only been one stream of water coming from its mouth. *In Colosseum, some birds were shown grounded, such as Skarmory. In Sw/Sh, almost all birds are shown flying, a leftover of Generation 6's "Sky Battle" mechanic, and in Skarmory's case, the flying animation is awkward.
In 16 years, Colosseum and XD aged like fine cheese. In 6 years, SwSh aged like fine milk.
mogged by a 21 years old game
I say quality downfall explicitly started with Gen 8. Gen 7 was pretty impressive and manages to disable the 3DS's 3D mode by default to increase performance and visuals, which is smart programming wise. On the Switch, you noticed that they are utilizing rendering techniques that people could get away with on PS1, Sega Saturn, Dreamcast, and Nintendo 64 such as popping, areas segmented for memory loading purposes, culling of far away objects, and restricting the camera when possible. The hardware is not the problem, even though it is starting to show its age. It is the developers. However, since I am American, my word means nothing to them.
Some people have to realize that XD/Colosseum was in Gen 3 so it only had 386 Pokémon. The 3rd party animators had more time to add the real-like effects when a Pokémon faints, comes into battle, gets hit, etc. In Sword/Shield, it was in Gen 8 that Pokémon created more than 900 creatures. To animate all of those species and create backgrounds and arenas to that high standard WITH a strict timeframe is very challenging. Probably the reason it didn't include every Pokémon. That and DLCs. Me personally, I love the Colosseum era. Gen 3 was hot at the time. The "next generation" of gameplay with the GBA and GameCube. For everyone that wants the product and style of a Colosseum/XD into a future game, that would need more time to create than the standard 3 year release of every gen. Do the people want to wait that long for a new gen Pokémon game? Me personally, I'm quality over quantity. I will wait the 5 years for a Colosseum like game rather than a 3 year RUSHED game.
They didn't improve ANY animations though! They slashed the dex, said it's for animation, but didn't do animation!
Yes. I'll gladly wait 5 years, even more, for a good mainline PKMN game than get another shit one in the next 2-3 years. It's not like they can't pad out that time with spinoffs and other shit. Make another Mystery Dungeon. Remaster some old games. Do some weird shit like another Pokken or Rumble or whatever the hell else so GamefrEAk has time to cook the mainline games that'll define the entire generation.
Modern GF is embarrassing
Today i showed my 5 year old the Arceus game. He can't read and has minimal knowladge about the game. He has no problem playing that game. All you gotta do is to follow the compass, pick the very first option in every dialogue and that's it. It is incredibly stale and brain dead game.
