      There’s a small dint on the frame. I was concerned about it initially as I bought the bike second hand and it was there already. I’ve been using the bike for over two years and it doesn’t affect it in any way and it’s not getting worse either.

    What size did you have on here. 700x What? 32, 35? I've had very good use from Fincci tires in both 28C and 35C. Right now I have a newer hybrid with stock 35C tires (more for gravel it looks like) made by Kenda. They seems good and have some puncture resistance, but by the spring I think I'd like to have some 32Cs on there, even though I like the 35mm size. The real difference is that the older hybrid I have has front shocks, is heavier by three pounds, and gets me out to dirt trails, not just gravel. The newer hybrid is strictly for city use, with the expectation of a strip of gravel or dirt here or there. Incidentally, not on purpose. So Continental Ride Tour looks like a good bet so far. Ok yeah, you eventually mentioned these were 32mm sized. Good. Also thanks for the rundown. Very helpful.

      Just a P.S. here. The Finnci 700x35Cs that I put on my Marin hybrid were also very tedious to put on the first time for both. More work than for anything else before. Not so with the 28C ones. So I guess that's just what you can expect for those brands and comparable sizes.

    Ended up here while researching tri-folds and have this observation regarding your poor braking performance (which was mitigated by swapping out the pads). Looks like the Litepro is spec'ed with dual pivot calipers which are typically mated to drop bar brifters/levers. These have different pull ratios than levers spec'ed for flat bars meant for V-Brakes--short pull for caliper levers; long pull for V-Brakes. Improperly spec'ed levers can result in very weak brakes. You may want to check it out.

    • @BikeCommuterHero
      @BikeCommuterHero 8 днів тому

      Cheers. Bromptons have the same dual pivot callipers and work great. I own two and both are way better than this one.

    Bardzo fajny test opon. Też szukałem rozwiązania-dobrych opon i wybrałem Conti tour ride...ale potem znów szukałem i myślałem o czymś nowym. Tymczasem okazuje się, że kupione Conti tour ride , są naprawdę dobre i uniwersalne, bezpieczne (podróże 80% miasto, 20% żwir, kamienie, las). Pozdrawiam z centralnej Polski - Łódź🖐️👍 PS w aucie Goodyear allseasons 3gen( ponieważ mamy przez 5 miesięcy delikatne zimy, trochę śniegu i pada deszcz)

    Ride Tour aka Tour Ride (formerly known) is the hardest tyre I've ever had the misfortune to fit, it's awkward to get on evenly on the rim refusing to pop straight as pressure builds even when lube a bit it's 'puncture protection' is no better than Schwalbe Land Cruisers (in fact I'd say both tyres are very similar except I'd say the Conti is a bit better on rolling resistance even if Conti also over state the size i.e. my 32c are 27c on the rim and inflated this is a common theme with Conti Tourride tyres while the Land Cruisers I can easily fit with my hands only) The Marathon and Marathon + I've had experience with are in another league for puncture resistance and I'd argue better rolling resistance than my Ride Tours and also FAR easier to fit tho not as easily as my Land Cruisers were. A decent review but I feel commuters don't generally give a hoot about off roading versatility the puncture protection and rolling resistance level is worth 10x the points of offroad grip for instance. EDIT - oh and Marathon+ are also rated E50

    My ideal "commuter" (actually just errands since I wfh) is an upright step thru city (e)bike, with attachments for accessories. I prioritize comfort, because I don't want to feel like I can't tolerate a long. I'm not too concerned with speed--I got the bike to improve the quality of my rides and for functional exercise. If speed (or weather) is truly a factor, I take my car. I still save on charging and maintenance the less I drive my car.

    Any bike will be stolen in the US doesn't matter if it's inexpensive. Most bike thieves aren't googling the value first, they usually just need something to exchange for drugs or do it impulsively.

    Thanks for the fantastic detailed review!! Your comment that you couldn't put any of the tires on your wheel easily made me wonder if you might have the wrong size tire. You are so knowledgeable, I doubted that you would but thought I'd post a comment anyway. I've been cycling for years and have always found mounting new tires a struggle but have always managed to dismount and mount tire that have been on the bike for a while. Anyway, you settled the debate in my head. I am going for the Contact Plus City for my new ebike - Specialized Turbo Vado. After a weeks ownership, I have found the stock tires too unstable when cornering fast. I'd have gone for the Contact Plus "non-city" but they don't make them in my size. But 99% of my riding is on paved roads and any off-load is relatively slow speed and flat. Cheers! Michael

    My first cycle commute was just over 7 miles on busy roads and using an old bike that was too small for me. For the first month, I arrived so tired that I had to rest for an hour before starting work (fortunately, that was possible!). I bought a better bike, found a more suitable route and got fitter - I haven't looked back since. My final commute before retiring a few years ago, was 12 miles, and I never had any problems, despite my advancing years.

    the sidewall of my marathon plus rear tire finally gave way after seeing a sign of the blue rubber poking through elsewhere on the tire although this was unrelated. I reckon heavy commuting use and some light trail biking for about 10-12 years. Not a single puncture and cycling through plenty of rubbish. front tire is only worn half as much so only buying a rear replacement. The grippy edge of the tire was hardly worn at all, so cornering with day 1 confidence all along... great tires...

    I need new front tire on my commuter bike. Continental Ride Tour is on the back and really worn out schwalbe is on the front. I ride like 95% on the paved roads, but I try to continue even during snowy winter time. Thread on the continentals seems more snowproof. Their opinions and test on this channel praise their puncture resistance. So my question is if someone tried to ride on snow with these Schwalbe tires?

    Excellent points! Have a 2019 Specialized Crossroads-a hybrid that’s comfortable for a 20 mile ride (have no need to ride any further than that), practical (low maintenance), has a lot of gears (more than I really need), and I have customized it to suit my needs in all kinds a weather and on a variety of terrains in a leafy small to medium sized city. Always lock it and keep it in my line of sight. If I can’t see it and lock it I don’t take it. Not a commuter I but run errands and ride for exercise and fun. Best bike I have ever had and it fits my needs perfectly.

    A bit late to the party, but irrespective of what brand grips you go for opting for a larger horn is optimum if you get out of your saddle for hill climbing or sprinting. They allow you more control to better pump your bike with straight flat bars.
