TRIUMPH TR8 RPi ENGINEERING, Thank you
I come from a rusty place, I feel your pain. What you see is tip of the iceberg, sandblast it and all you’ll have is brown dust and bondo. If it runs you can keep it going for a while with a wire feed welder and scrap steel but that one is well past its ‘best if used by’ date for both aesthetic pleasure and safety.
I see you have changed your profile, at first I thought who is this then realised it was you in sunny North Wales 😂 Car coming along great fab job on those brakes. So now you’ve got the stop you need to make her go vroom, vroom 🤣👍
Hi mate, done good job on those brake lines and the brakes are biting well , she will be on the road in no time. Just got back from Bala and I was talking to an owner of a yellow TR7 2-Litre 5 speed S-reg 1978 from near Oswestry he was parked up by Llyn Tegid. Got back to Wrexham and I was parked up next to a yellow V-reg 79-80 1500 Spitfire that was mint. Your doing a great job keeping a classic alive, enjoy your pint of what looks like just drained the oil sump ( I dont like Guiness ) great video take care
Is that Guinness on top of your engine or old brake fluid?😂
Hooray for the Red, White and Blue. Enjoy your Guinness!
Interesting brake upgrade Chris. Anybody out there know if these Princess calipers were used on other applications? I have heard something about Volvo caliper swaps. I'm on the wrong side of the Atlantic!
Hiya Chris, always nice when it comes together, I do believe it's raining tomorrow & I'm on my way from Plymouth to Bicester for the 2nd scramble of the year! good luck :)
👋👋🇸🇪
I have been here! I feel for you! Take care!
I’m jealous! I love the sign! Just painted my TR8 coupe on Monday.
Top work , job well done Chris. Nice to see a job come together with the right parts in hand👍
Hi Chris, you done a good job there making off those brake lines, catch you soon👍
Nice & neat job :)
Hi Chris, was that a single flare, if so change it for a double flare for safety’s sake as most of the braking is done on the front and a single flare can fatigue and crack. Create a bubble flare first then turn the die round to push it down into a double flare - just saying, keep up the good work fella 👍
Wonderful sound
Hi Chris, That Rover V8 sounds good, a quick blast down the A55 , that Northop Hall junction is tight off the dual carriageway. A nice drive through Northop Hall and Connha's Quay. About 20 years ago a mate of mine had a 1974 ( N reg ) last of the chrome bumper models had a MGB V8 3500 in red with a 5 speed gearbox I wonder if the gearbox came from a TR7 / TR8 or SD1. Great video take care
Hi Chris, She sounds good and pulls well, been on the Flinshire Bridge many a time and driving through towards Connahs Quay. Bit of a nuisance on the Deeside Ind Est, with those roundabouts on the main carriageway and the traffic just piles up as you go in to Flint. Yes I agree the 20 mph is a joke especially on main through routes it should be 30 mph. Driving through the centre of Wrexham at 20 you get pedestrains over taking traffic, have a good one
Hi Chris, nice car, nothing better on the car radio than V8 FM in stereo, are those wheels off the Rover 45 and MG ZS , have fun
Not too sure. They're the same wheels as on the Red car. Cheers.
Hi Chris, Looks good from far, but far from good, you got a big job on there. but I noticed this was made a year ago, how you getting on with the TR7 now. where abouts are you. Good luck with the rebuild, Shaun in Wrexham
Shaun, she features in a later video. Keep watching. Take care. Chris Robinson
Great build! Love the look of the John Woolfe Racing Offy Dual Port intake. Keep up the good work!
I think TR7 brakes lines are metric. M10 fine
Good job. The roundabouts and mergers from the left side of the road are disconcerting forYanks like me in California. I drive a TR4 that my dad bought new in 1964...
Been a subscriber not long watched a lot today amd commented this never came up untill later in the day 22:22 hrs my wife went to bed I said see you in a bit I never saw this in your uploads you tube put this up kind of knew what it was before watching must have been so hard for you. I am so so sorry for your loss of your Jackie.
Many, many thanks for you kind words. Take care. Chris Robinson
I feel your frustration Chris!
I hate it when wrong parts arrives in the post, either blame myself or the internet 😭
All fun & games eh!
Chris, it never ends. I love it. Take care Mate. Chris Robinson
Looks like a lot of faffing about with little to no room for error you must have the paitence of a saint I would've launched it out the workshop.
As Neil Young sang rust never sleeps.
Lovely sound Chris....on throttle it is a little throatier than my 8 with factory exhausts
v8 fm........🤣
she sounds good mate. hard to beat the sound of the little rover 8 with the right pipes. jeez the roads are rough in places. what's the latest on yer two wheeled babies?
The Bikes are on pause at the moment until I get some enthusiasm. I'm going to try to get some work done on the cars while it isn't raining. Take care. Chris Robinson
And another nice cruise in Sunny North Wales !! Car's flying nicely Chris. Good job !! 20 MPH in my neck of the woods just means people are doing at least 30 MPH. I think you made up for it on the highways- lol. We're coming into Autumn here soon so weather is still nice for cruising but the days sure are shorter. Well, take care. Thnx for sharing the video.
Car pulls well Chris, nice 😄
Thanks Chris. 👍👍🇨🇦
20mph is an absolute joke, I have been to Llandudno four times since June and it was painful, hopefully being rescinded this October I heard, love the car and a great drive out Chris 👍
I love the sound off that V8 thans Chris for this nice video !
Done that trip just for fun quite a few times, but 20 mph a joke? Just relax a bit and remember you are helping to save lives and prevent injuries. Enjoyed the ride otherwise, thanks for sharing 🙂
Collecting the tr7/8 must be an addiction fair play to you for keeping cars like this on the road my late dad had one wdb953s in pagent blue then ford sunburst red I learnt how to balance carbs, set points and other jobs on that car only a 2ltr but as a kid it felt fast. I would love to own one with a v8 lump sadly time space.
Love the new discs & calipers, I guess the alloys have room still :) Unfortunate on the clutch pipe, but not a big job, he that has made no mistake has learnt bugger all!
You can't trust new parts anymore.
Totally agree. Take care. Chris Robinson
Lovely burble. I swapped batteries on my Capri 2.8 injection yesterday. Owned that one 33 years and I started it up and being fitted with big bore exhausts that has a nice sound even on tick over. A really good rasp when it gets revved.
Nice one. I owned a Capri 2.8 many years ago. I regret selling her. Take care. Chris Robinson
Well done Chris... Fixing a similar problem myself where the wipers won't switch off after turning them off...
👍 perfect
Car sounds fantastic! Wow! You have some dangerous roads there as some look like one lane with cars going both directions? Thanks and hope you do more. Very well done👍🏻
Hey Chris!! Well it's about bloody time !!!! I'm joking with you, but I'm seriously glad to see you out on the road with the TR7-V8 after all the time you put into it. Isn't it a great feeling? It sure sounds great too. Driving since I'm 16 I'll never get used to you guys driving on the other side of the road as I live in Long Island, NY. It's fun to watch though. Glad you're enjoying the fruits of your labor my friend ! 👍
You've done an awesome job with that car.
Hi Chris. In one of your recent videos you mention the fuel pump fitted where the battery used to live. Have you noticed any fuel supply issues with the pump being higher than the tank?
Andy, no issues at the moment. I guess it was back primed upon installation. Take care. Chris Robinson
V8 Fm 👍. I noticed that the front bumper covers are spliced near each ends, unlike the US models here in the states. What is the reason for that?
I believe the US cars had to comply with US Federal rules which mandated 5 MPH Bumpers. Not so for UK cars. Thanks for your comment. Take care. Chris Robinson
@@chrisrobinson61 I thought perhaps to get the bumpers to fit better to the sides of the car. I noticed the gaps especially in the front bumper to fenders here are terrible.
Agreed, my Red car has the US bumpers.
Nice!
Brought back some memories for me there Chris, I lived not far from you there in Connah's Quay for 12 years, looked a nice smooth ride, good buy I think, the V8 sounded awesome.
What a great noise, thanks for posting!
