Top's problem seems to be that he's too friendly with Rudkin and Wheelan, and it's hard to sack a friend. Understandably, he would have relied heavily on them in the aftermath of the death of his father. Vichai, as the more mature businessman would also have been friendly but only on his own terms, and would most likely have been able distance himself far enough to veto them.
