    I have one like that with an Onan. About 50 hrs total time. It is a little fussy to start after sitting awhile. I usually have to prime it with starting fluid down the carb a few times before it picks up fuel on its own.

      @@madmanmechanic8847 this method came about because I was working by myself and needed to get a fuel pump done. The bolts weren’t bad rusted and I did do some pregaming. I suggest spraying the bolts with penetrating oil a few days prior to doing it. Be careful doing this if you choose to do it. Keep me updated on your progress. • @JLCmike4014
    @JLCmike4014 8 місяців тому

    That no oil pressure/long crank issue is the low pressure oil pump not being able to supply enough pressure for the hpop. Melling makes a much better low pressure oil pump for the 7.3L. Just make sure you grease the gears of the pump so it helps with priming. The gauge on the dash is reading base oil pressure only (low pressure).

    The flashing OD light is likely the TPS. A functioning tach sensor is necessary for the TPS to work properly. I had a bad TPS and tach sensor on my 1993 7.3 IDI that dogged me for years. When the OD light flashes the truck goes into limp mode. Another possibility is the speed sensor. All three have to be healthy and the TPS adjusted correctly for the OD light to quit flashing. Also the TCM capacitors are known to go bad which will throw error codes so the OD light flashes.

    I'm in NY and bought a "1994" F150 that came from Tennessee. I think it's a junkyard Frankenstein. When I went to buy new front brake calipers, my calipers were held on by slide pins. But all the 1994 calipers were held on with two bolts. I figured out when servicing the rear universal that the tag said 1992. So what I have, I think, is a 1994 body sitting on a 1992 frame. I guess that means I have a "unique" vehicle. But, like you, I have leaky gas tanks and bad sending units. So I was wondering what could I do for tail/brake lights if I decided to leave the bed off and drive around like a flat bed? Are there kits I could splice in or plug into the existing wiring harness that you've heard of? I guess I'd have to bolt them onto the rear frame or something.

    • @FuelTilt
      @FuelTilt 9 місяців тому

      Good question. I think you could get the tail light just used to tow a car behind a vehicle/RV and wire them into the plug at the rear that you have to unhook in order to remove the bed. Secondary, I would look at your title and make sure the vin sticker on the drivers door jamb matches the title as well as the vin seen through the windshield.

      Good ideas. I believe that I have checked the VIN numbers and they match in all three places. At 80, my memory isn't absolutely sure but the truck got registered here in NY with no problems. Since the VIN is located on the body, that is probably why they originally registered it as a '94. Magnetic Tow Lights - that's what I was trying to remember. I'll have to check to see if they have turn signal lights incorporated, too. Thanks for the tips and quick reply.

      Ya know what I just saw? A guy in another video zip tied his tail lights to the rear bumper. I hope God has a special place for you guys who post your videos to help your brothers and sisters have an easier time doing these repairs.
