The pound used to be backed by a pound of silver hence Pound Sterling. £215 ish. Yes, that is how much the pound has been devalued over time.

I’m Manx and Manx angels are my favorite coins easily, you have great ones in that collection. Pobjoy mint closed end of 2023 however the minting of the angels and also the Manx nobels were taken over by tower mint from 2016 and they have a 10 year minting contract.

The U.S. Mint today needs to get on top of their game they're coins are nice but they suck as a mint. Just take a look at the Buffalo the rim is always wobbly. The Buffalo is really a Bison 🦬...U.S. Mint smh

Anything by the Perth Mint is Quality. It never ceases to amaze me why the endless tat that comes out of the Royal Mint is tolerated by us the consumer and more importantly by Senior Management in Llantrisant....they should be put on a PIP and then sacked if they don't up their game!!!

Love these!! I have few from Germany. Wilhelm II and Hamburg. 5 rubles Nikolai II, Sovereign from 1864. 20 corona from Austro-Hungary. Napoleon III from 1869. Love the history behind these coins. Next i'm aiming for Finland, Usa, Sweden and Norway.

Why don't top dealers or mints or auction houses offer funeral packages to allow clients to plan these events to ease the burden on family? 🤔 You can plan, and even pay for your funeral and trust funds these days, why not the same for liquidising a coin collection? 🤔

Unless your direct heirs are into precious metals themselves - they will reach out for the easiest money when you pass = cash for gold! Your heirs will have to dismantle your total estate, lots of paperwork, so they couldn't be bothered with research and best price quotes on top of that. It's all free money, therefore: yay! I have seen this so many times in my friends' families 😞So in case you grow very old my advice is to sell your collection/stack yourselves - and leave what your heirs call real money = cash!

Totally logical advice. The Potteries auction sold a Charles I gold Unite for just over 5 grand (with fees). That's just nuts. A good grade on a dedicated coin auction would've yielded 10 - 20k.

I appreciate your honesty Shaun, more than most! But I think the topic is broader than just that and it’s something you touched upon. As stackers we all can appreciate trends and market values. It’s more to do with someone that has integrity. We won’t always get what we paid for on the day but let’s be honest. Metals is a long term strategy. Sometimes generational. It’s doing the best with what’s available and who we can trust.

I had a horrific experience at the Potteries Auction House buying coins and haven't bought from any auction since. Better dealing direct with the public.

A lot of coin dealers do not pay fairly or honestly.

Good video Shaun. I would also mention COTR auction as they only charge 10% to the seller and nothing to the buyers thus seller gets a good price.
