I am retired now, but have been privileged to work on two geologic mapping projects in and around the gorge one lasted about two years and one took three. There was limited mining very near if not actually in the park boundaries in the 1970s. I collected coal samples in those mines. Oh, I also watched the bridge being built from the beginning to the dedication!

It’s about damn time they put up cages to stop this nonsense! Seriously does the new river gorge want to be known as the bridge to death!!! It’s time to stop this bullshit!
