2018 Camaro ZL1 100% Stock 6 Speed Top Speed Run 900 Feet Above Sea Level 80° F
I have a '24 ZR2 and I find the acceleration quite good, and yes I've seen that warning too... LOL
is there a way to change the speed limit of 98mph its annoying. i just want to take that off
It's because of the tires.
It's got all of that horsepower and it barely reaches 180?
Jesus that must feel like a rocket.
very nice power coming out of a stock car. Some E85 will definitely wake this monster up.
Daaaammmm ... a buck eighty ... Sheeeeeeeesh ✌️❤️💯 ... my best was about 155 ... those Mexican streets sure are decent!!!
A tune would solve that.
6th is so tall lol
That's not all it's got. It's the limiter.
Awesome!!!
That’s a long ass 6th gear!
Shorten 6th gear ratio and I’ll think she’ll do 200
That's one hell of a Overdrive.. .
Tach was cool, oil pressure better.
Dude that thing has so much left in it
Painfully slow Dyno pull
For a sports car, sure.
LOL Ok smoothbrain
I miss when cars had gauges.. 😔
Your sick bro 🔥💯
Thanks!!
Nice run man,6th gear really drops it low.
That's a long legged 6th. Another hundred horsepower might put that thing well over 200
It would've for sure. I managed to get it to 186 on another video. Another hundred horse would've pushed it higher into the rpms.
I think my 2019 gmc canyon v6 would beat that in a race but I could tell that turbo kicked in but my 2019 has a supercharger
You can literally watch the fuel consumption
Nice
The 2.7s aren’t bad engines at all, but that thing desperately needs a tune. Im glad they finally put good transmissions in all these trucks now. The last Canyon I had was a 12’ with the 5.3. It ran really well with some bolt ons, but the 4 speed killed it only having two under drive gears. Off the line it would walk away from most newer full size trucks at the time, but after the 2-3 shift it was all but over lol. I still have one of my 5.3 RCSB Silverados, but my main truck these days is a Coyote/10R80 F150 and that thing is an animal. Feels more like a Mustang than a pickup honestly.
Very quick for a 4 cylinder truck
Car ain’t meant for 180 , all that horsepower but good until 140 unless nitrous or turbo upgrade over supercharger
It never struggled once to 172mph.
Pretty damn smooth for 180mph
It really was. I put the cruise on once at 155mph and drove it for 50 miles for about 20 minutes. It wasn't struggling... It was showing like 10mpg if I remember correctly. With an open road and an aux fuel tank, it would've put a whoop on a helicopter or Cessna for regional travel.
Swap the trans for the ZR1 TR6060 and you'll get a useful 6th gear. This is a 200mph capable car otherwise
I agree with that!
4500 RPMs at 180 is wild.
Why does GM have to put such low limiters on these cars? These cars can go well over 100 easily.
The factory tire rating. It's annoying!
0:09 is my favorite
Needs tuned my guy most zl1's do
Quick but that 4 cylinder makes no power up top
Agreed!
Yea but man oh man does she pull hard off the line. It pulls decent on the highway, but it for sure makes its power sub 4000 rpm
@@bradyb2233 The torque is actually very impressive for a mid size. I still have this trick and overall I enjoy it
@@Jeff-Wfrd I just got mine. I found the last 23 in my area still new. They gave me a bunch off the sticker so I took it. I was blown away with it from a dead stop just smashing the gas. It takes a second to get going, but once it hits, it hits hard.
@@bradyb2233 definitely incredible torque off the line shame it dies off
So much torque 🤩 I wonder how well this engine would be with the 10 speed
Probably better fuel economy, but to be honest I can’t tell the difference. I had a 21 Silverado with the 10 speed and moved to this truck and basically can’t tell them apart.
0-100 - 18 seconds
Shifts: 3-5 business days
0-60 - 6 and some change
My Scat Pack m6 Challenger will do 182. I woulda expected 190 or more on a zl1
100%. It does get to 172 quickly though. It's a struggle to get to 180mph, simply due to gearing. The power was there.
0:23
Not even close to a Hellcat.
I don't understund why the 4th gear is so (stupid) short, this makes 6th too much long 💀
Its funny how Chevy advertises that this car can hit 198. smh........
Agreed. That's 100% the reason I bought it. 186 is the fastest I could get it to go and it took at least 2 miles from 172 to 186.
@@Jeff-Wfrd 186 is still wicked fast. Do you have the 1LE aero package on yours? Sometimes the drag those packages create can diminish the top speeds a little.
@@GasGuzzlerz I sold it, but it did not have the 1LE. final gear ratio was better in that, but it also has more downforce. I'm guessing it's about the same.
Now understand why tuned camaros have more top speed as 220
10speed gaer best ln 100\0
Love how this guy ain't even phased in th3 slightest
Thanks man!
Scares me once I see that oil pressure start to dip I have to let off
dude that 6th gear was not gonna let you hit redline 😳😳
That is a solid run😮😊
Thanks!
Geez! 180 mph. In 1985 I bought the top Camaro money could buy at the time. An IROC-Z It had a crazy 215 hp. I traded an '83 Z-28 with the H.O. 5.0 with 5 speed at 190 hp. My, how things have changed. Nice video. Thanks for posting.
Hey I had a 1992 Z28 5 speed with the 305 and it is crazy. I could barley max the speedo in 5th, which was 145mph.
That was a great up tempo run up! A pleasure to see a good driver shifting along in their car with knowledge and care. Years ago, I had a '79 280 ZX with a 5 speed. I traveled a lot for work on various more rural Interstates; I could have used a 6th gear when doing my late night speedy travel; 5th gear had very little drop off at shifting , plus DID have more GO to pick up speed, quite a bit more. I raced various Z-28's and Trans AM's, for distance stretches (2-5 miles), I outran all of them through 1985. I really loved those Camaro's and was going to buy one, but I got a crazy good deal to get that ZX, which by chance had a Paul Newman racing tune on it, and everything that spun on it, was centered and balanced perfectly. I also followed the Official break in guidelines for the engine, which was an insanely hard to do: two minutes at idle at Start, no revs over 4000, and no speed over 55; I did that for 2000 miles! I remember hearing all 6 piston ring setting on the way to work as I slowly drove through a quiet neighborhood. Thanks for your ear; your video just took me back in time.
Then all of a sudden the ice is gone and the tires get traction 😂
I did 193 in New Jersey
Should’ve held 5th longer or at least no lift shift to maintain boost she can do it
There is no holding 5th longer. The rev limiter begins at 172. No Lift shift would have put me in the rev limiter. There's full boost at 175 and 180. Makes no difference. I can assure you if that's all I had to do to go faster, I would do it. I've been hauling ass (just like this video) for 25 years. I can squeeze every last Mph out of a top end run. Is yours an auto or a stick?
Gimme your email I’ll send you a video
