Hot take: V doesnt work, the game is good bc the story is good, but V is always a cocky asshole you have more choice as Geralt who is a already written character.

if you stop playing fo4 like an rpg its a great time, but the fact that its in the same series of some of the most critically acclaimed rpgs of all time does not bode well for the game in the slightest, i mean there is no situation when you are playing after you get out the vault that you can reasonably justify you doing aside from finding your son, it put you into this narrow path and while it lets you stray away from it, it feels stupid to do so

I still think the story of cyberpunk 2077 would have vastly been improved if jackie lived and had the chip stuck in his head, like if the konpeki heist were reversed and V stuck it in their head first before giving it to jackie so you could both see silverhand

5:05 Do not bother with Fallout 76. Sure it actually has content now, some of it is even good. But it is still one of the buggiest games I have ever played with massive performance issues.

I mean, Bugthesda games aren't even RPGs anymore. They are soulless, empty mod receptacles held together with spit and duck tape, running on an engine that was outdated 12 years ago, written by a gaggle of hacks that couldn't write a grocery list without fucking up. Fallout 4 isn't even a "good" game: gunplay is shit, weapons look like crap, the story makes no sense, it breaks most previously established lore, and they had to add settlement mechanics at the eleventh hour to artificially inflate playing hours.

This is very disrespectful and hurtful to hardcore fans of cyberpunk like me who do not need this, this is FAKE!

Because... you say so? This was definitely NOT the general opinion about V -and- Cyberpunk back in 2020. Here's something to consider: patching the game TECNHICALLY never had anything to do with the STORY.

Another issue with Nora being a lawyer is that it narratively pigeon holds certain build types that players may want to run. Like, what if I wanted to make a bruiser/melee combat character with her with low intelligence and charisma. Yeah, you can if you want, but it would make no sense narratively with her background.

You don't play Fallout 4 for the Story, you play it for the Gameplay.... and the 1000s of Mods which will inevitably break the game.....

V works because the character background all stem back to the path they are going down. V is a mercenary, a hired gun who carries out jobs. With some variable changes in their lifepath. It all comes back to how V learned to survive in Night City. Their lifepath and experiences allows you to define what V desires, what they pursue, and what is important to them. They've lost a lot and are losing themselves thanks to the imprint of Johnny Silverhand in their head. How far are they willing to go? Do they want to cure themselves or enact revenge? What is important to V is yours to define with the details of their life to compliment their journey. Fallout 4's protagonist has an established life that is quickly uprooted and it never comes back up again. Nora is a Lawyer, Nate is a War Veteran. Bethesda cut out a lot of the content to avoid forcing a role or life onto the protagonist while leaving just enough that the main character was somebody before they were thrown into the future hellscape. They failed to keep the balance of a moderately blank slate character and a preset character. The Sole Survivor has too many defining aspects that you cannot embody yourself as them, but also bland enough that they have no strict moral code or virtues they follow. Nate and Nora would've easily been perfect companions and side characters. Other survivors of Vault 101 who help establish the weight of losing everything from your old lives. Playing as them however... you gain nothing as you're not stepping into the shoes of a pre-established character. But rather an emptied shell with their face on it. And them being killed not only ends any effort to learn about who Nate/Nora was before the bombs fell too.

They aren't related to one another, so I don't really understand the desperate comparison. Is the only way you could make Cyberpunk sound interesting to compare it to the worst Fallout game?

I don't usually sit around for full 40 minute videos - which is ironic because I like to *make* 40 minute videos sometimes - but wow was this a captivating one. I can tell full well that you put your whole heart into this, it really shows. It's such a shame that Cyberpunk was shrouded in so much controversy and issues when it first came out because narrative-wise it's clearly a masterpiece. I know, "if the writing's the only captivating part about a game, why not just make a book," yadda yadda, but something incredibly important about video games as narrative piece is the personal connection added by having the player be the one making the choices rather than just reading or watching a character do things.

Tbf cyberpunk does limit your desired ending if you choose male. You can do panam ending and romance judy to come with you if you play as fem but if you play as male, you can't take judy with you at all. I however love this. It encourages the player to try a nes perspective, helped by the life path option

fr, the start of fallout 4 has made me so emotional and made me want to make revenge & finding my lost son the top priority... but the game is just not about that. you can't really focus on that goal and you'll likely to have more fun pursuing other ends. thus the backstory is just there as an open sore

You chose that the sole survivor would immediately fall in love with someone else, you chose that they would run around the wasteland instead of finding their son. "It doesn't fit with the character" Then make it. My sole survivor ran around the wasteland for a while and never completed the main quest because he just gave up. He believed his son was dead. You don't think the sole survivor would romance a character (who the video essayist SAYS adds nothing to the characters or story) then don't romance them. It's a role-playing game, you chose the role of a guy who wanted to kiss an Irish lady and not find his son as he ran around the commonwealth.

My biggest problem with FO4 can be summed up with the following fact: You can't tell Garvey to go fuck himself. The only way to not join the minutemen is to never visit Concord.

As someone who is really into worldbuilding and environmental storytelling, Night City is the first video game city that truely captivated me. I wish there were more games that didn't just copy real life cities and had their own fictional modern and futuristic urban areas.

On one of my playthroughs, I started with Nate and gave him the maximum muscular build (the guy was in the army after all). Once he realises what has happened to the world, he snaps. He went to the Hubris Comics office, collected the axe and costume of Grognak and believed that he was in fact, Grognak. Yeah, didn't work 100%, but it was a fun way to play a strictly melee build.

Don't forget Fortnite will add cyberpunk but not only in Fortnite but in Rocket League. So they gonna add some vehicles. But the main question is, What vehicle will come to Fortnite and Rocket League?

Do you even need to ask? Fallout 4 has no Story its just a basic sandbox where you make your own fun, like mine craft with guns. While Cyberpunk has a great story you can sink your teeth in.

The unfortunate part is how unnecessary the restrictions in FO4's protaganist are. The Father/Son dynamics are some of the weakest story elements of the game, and even there push you along the story in the most random ways. A drugged up old lady tells you to go to Diamond City to find your kid, then you follow a 50 year old trail that somehow leads you to the original antagonist. Since they're already just Macguffining you across the map to hit key story points, it wouldn't be that hard to add in alternate motivations.
