What did you use to cut them …
Friend has this issue on her 2012. What did you use to cut the heater core pipe?
NEWPORTS!!!!!????
Do you need to cut the new one back some to make room or space for the rubber hoses?
Great video thanks!
Used this video the other day. Worked perfectly 👌🏿. Also one of the best videos I've used
Great video!!! I know this is a three year old video, but to you know if this was a 2.0L TDI or as it pertains to the heater core does it even matter. I have a 2013 Passat 2.0L TDI doing exactly what the owner said this one was doing and I know it is either the heater core or blend doors. Thanks again for this video!
In the video you can see the engine cover it says it’s a 2.5. I’m not sure if the heater core is the same.
This is not a hack at all. I think this is an intelligent, well thought out repair. Clean. Efficient. Cost efective.
Looks great me...lm all in on that!
Thank you for this video. I have been scouring the internet trying to figure out how to set this up with 120v.
I used this video as a guide and it worked great, thank you for sharing!!!
I own a 2012 Chrysler 200 sport. Stop using HOAT silica type antifreeze. Flush and use OAT type antifreeze. Add a coolant filter. Filters work.
This was awesome man thank you so much for sharing this video it really saved me in so many ways💯💯💯💯💯👍👍👍👍👍
Anyone in or near philadelphia that can do this job? I have no heat n it's getting cold. ☹️
2014 Passat TDI. Went without much heat last winter while waiting for the dealer to get a core to replace under warranty. Now that winter is here again, we’ve realize that we STILL only have partial heat. (For us, passenger side is better.) Now the deal wants $300 for the blend door actuator and $1,300 for labor. No way, when I can buy the OEM part for $135 or a knock-off for $39. BL;DR: if you need to replace the core, do the stupid actuator at the same time.
What size radiator hose you use? This is a lifesaving hack
5/8THS
Excellent video, superb!
What did you cut the lines with?
This is nothing. I open the box and there is 8 wires, blacks tied to whites, it's a serious mess, but somehow worked before. Took a while to figure out what some bozo did to it.
Fantastic video man!! Appreciate you! Now to tackle my 13' and get good heat for this coming winter. Mine is also driver's side heat only.
Thanks man
I have both heat and cool air my passenger side keeps flooding with water I was told it was because of the heater core what should I do
Thank you sir. Your video really did help. I appreciate your help. Cheers bud
My dude I do not even own this car and I was invested. Good job on the video if you get a 25$ 2k boroscope for your phone you can get all the interesting static camera angles you want... with a bright light!
What did you use to cut the pipes?
Hey man, thank you. This is a great idea. I think something is wrong with my heater core (I already replaced $1000 worth of stuff on my Chrysler 200 this month) All of the sudden two days ago now I have some wetness where my gas pedal is and my windshield keeps fogging up, almost like a vapor coming out of the dash vent. And then I was in the Home Depot parking lot and I was like “ Oh, I’ll just bypass the heater core. I live in Florida” and I just connected the hose like a circle near the airbox. Car was still overheating and I noticed that it runs from the heater core to the oil cooler. So I couldn’t do that! Worst car design ever.
Great video!!! Thank you so much. I have to replace one this weekend and this is definitely how I'll be doing the job!!!!!
If you really want to be impressed by VW you should see the way they built an entire car around a heater core on the MK4 platform . It is the 9th wonder of the world . The aliens are coming from light years away just to find out how they did it. Its insane
Thanks for posting this, just saved me a bunch of money!
Thank you!!! This saved me almost $2,000! The part was under $200 and with a little help from some good friends I have heat again! My old heater core was trashed with gunk filling the passenger side. I’m so thankful to you for sharing this “hack” on UA-cam!
Glad it helped ya
I’m having this exact issue 😟
blow your nose first.
I got no heat in my garage 😂
What did you use to get a clean cut on the piping?
A pipe cutter
I have 2014 Chrysler 200 and at first it only had some heat on driver side, and on passenger side it was cold. I did this method everything in video and now it’s running cold on both sides. What could have i done wrong?
You need 2 remove all air from the HC. Park the car on an extreme up angle. Open the radiator cap, allow the car to run and heat up and the air will escape naturally!!
Did you ever figure it out? I have the same model with the same issue
Good job, my friend you’ve done it. You made my life easy.
Thank you! Great video!
I may be wrong but you say screw #2 is black wire but the video shows a white wire.
It’s hard to see initially but if you look closely there is a black wire there. It’s the hot wire coming from the breaker box. That white wire you see there is an internal wire for the switch. Sorry about the poor video quality.
If you having issues connecting the pipes back it’s probably because you not using the oem heater core
remove 4 panels to get to 2 screws... typical.
I'd rather do it the right way for a customer. If it was my own vehicle, heck ya!
What did you use to cut the piping?
A pipe cutter
Outstanding thank you, just what I was looking for. You made it really easy. Thanks
I have a 2003 does it work Chrysler Voyager LX 😅
This was great!!! I love this idea. I'm working on a 2012 Chrysler 200 with the same issue. This WILL save so much time and the customer, I know, will be happy with the saved money. Thank you so much!!!
@pjhorn5307 do i need to disconnect the battery when pulling panels?
It’s a good idea
I just completed this on our 2011, one extra step, the kick panel under the steering wheel goes over and behind the center console side panel so had to loosen the center console. Four bolts on the bottom of the console compartment then lift up the back end of the console, this allows an easier removal of the kick panel. You do not need to disconnect the hoses on the firewall, just put a large plastic garbage bag open under the pipes where you cut them, it catches the coolant and really there isn't much coming out at all once you drain the coolant. My replacement core was also slightly bigger than the original so the last couple of inches had to use a wood block and rubber hammer to fit it in but other than that this worked, we have hot air coming out both sides now. A bit more work than I thought, totaled 3 and half hours for me. Thank you!
I appreciate the video 🙏🏾
If you take off the plastic guards from the back of the van rather than the front guards, the metal brackets slide into place without needing to unscrew anything else.
thanks for sharing, very generous.
Good video - in terms of getting to see everything that is necessary to do the job. Thanks.
Thank you. This video really helped.
