    Leaf Guard covers minus the mesh on them have a cool Death Star vibe. Or the covers that go over the long floor drains. If turned up and down they look like control panel cooling vents. I try to get some ideas from salvage stores in my town. Keep an eye out for the small shop heaters with the metal body.

    How many letters is taking oil with filter?

    • @garlandsworkshop
      @garlandsworkshop 7 днів тому

      Supplies: Oil Filter: - Many can be used, but I used the WIX WL10514 from O’Reilly Auto Parts Store Oil: - Use a 0w-16 Full Synthetic Oil. - 5.5 quarts are required, but make sure you check your dipstick to ensure proper fill levels. First clean the dipstick, then recheck. The oil should be visible between the 2 round detents on the end of the dipstick.

      The manual says that for outside temps of 120 degrees, 10w30, 5w20 or 5w30 will work. But when the weather cools down, those may have too much viscosity.

  • @g-zeusthaprofit
    @g-zeusthaprofit 21 день тому

    The only thing missing I feel like could’ve been done is making sure that the new filter was filled halfway with new oil before being installed, but seeing as how it goes in sideways maybe that wasn’t an option.

    • @garlandsworkshop
      @garlandsworkshop 20 днів тому

      I considered that, but like you said, the filter sits awkwardly. And since I was sharing this to the internet…I didn’t want people doing that and then coming for me because oil spilt all over them or their driveway. 😂 Excellent catch though.

    I know this is the wrong time of the year for most, but getting a hold of a small commercial room heater has a nice look to it with the metal housing and grilled exterior. Also I found that the packaging for some computer cases ( the foam packing) has some nice cutouts and is light enough to alter. I hope you never run out of greeble idea.

    • @garlandsworkshop
      @garlandsworkshop 28 днів тому

      Those all sound like awesome finds. Foam packing is always a score. I haven’t seen a commercial heater, but I have taken apart a commercial building boiler. Way cool As for this one, ai already have ideas for a fun build…but may have to postpone that so I can finish the video editing on my current build I just finished. And as for Greebles… will always be in the lookout. However I want to present content that is ground I haven’t traveled already. So finding newer free things to take apart is more challenging at this point. But for now, my garage is full of a few more baubles to take apart and I will share soon

    • @pixelmator
      @pixelmator 28 днів тому

      @@garlandsworkshop Yeah the foam packing that came along with my NZXT tower is interesting for sure. It's not high density like the pink foam stuff but has knock out areas where the case had access to the ports on the mother board and the front. Maybe if you know someone in a computer business they might have something like that around. One day I will have enough time to actually put something together, lol. Keep posting.

      I have come across a lot of tv and stereo foam. Even though I purchased a sheet of XPS foam years ago….i keep using the EPS foam. Using grout, plater of Paris or even just by itself with only latex paint. I have a shed full of it. As of late…I just like using them to make galaxies edge type rock surrounds for panels I make. There really is no bounds to its use…only limits to imagination I guess

    This is not a HUD

    • @garlandsworkshop
      @garlandsworkshop 2 місяці тому

      You are 100% correct. This is not a literal dictionary definition “: a system that projects information onto a usually transparent surface that sits directly in a user's line of vision” Instead, it’s more of an example of adaptations of the English language morphing to work in the imaginary world of prop making….as many makers just call most any display of information a HUD. It lacks the overlay aspect with regards to field of vision. If creators are all going to call these hud’s, I have no problem running with it Besides, I can’t get too worked up about literal translations after all…as I’m building a sci-fi inspired prop related to a movie about fiction. It is just fun to build and display on a wall…and the acronym seems to help people in this niche, find what they are looking for. I hope you enjoyed the video, regardless of the title nomenclature. Hopefully one day, house appliances will offer me what I need to make a home hud from their parts. Cheers

      These videos show what is inside things. So that people who like making movie props can make their own art using parts found therein. I have a video called the hat is a Greebles and “in search of Greebles “ that explains this in more depth. It’s techniques that movies like Aliens and star wars used to make sets and props.

      I can appreciate that, but this is content that supplements the main content will hich us to build things. The “hunting for Greebles” series is by design a minute (ish) video set to music to show off a sort of visual grocery list. The idea is an item in the video might elicit the mind to build something based on the inspiration that the component offers by its aesthetics alone. There is a playlist I created called “searching for Greebles”. This is where I find an item and then find an inspiration to build off of. I also understand this is a very niche hobby. So it will not always find a home for me everyone. I invite you to watch one of my build videos and let me know in that video what you think. Or go to my playlist of projects that inspire me…. Where creators better than I, create wonderful art from nothing but trash, scraps of wood, etc. because at the end of the day…it’s about stretching the mind for creativity. And my channel is merely my video log of my progress in this hobby that I am lucky to share with others in this community of makers. Are you a maker? If not, I invite you to try as it can be quite a lot of fun. If you are, you hat do you like making?

      Bueno, La verdad es que lo que sucede es más trágico que nada…..En realidad la televisión no tenía nada mal ni ocupaba ninguna reparación…. Simplemente quise abrir la y enseñarle a toda la gente las partes que van en ella y coleccionar partes conocidas aquí como “greebles” para futuros proyectos que tengo en mente. Esperemos que el sacrificio que hizo la tele no sea en vano y que se pueda armar algo padrísimo de esto! Muchísimas gracias!!

    Sweet. I really thought there was more inside those things. The strap metal handles would be good looking hold-downs for a bundle of cables, or tubes. The square enclosure for the heating elements looks to be about the right size to hold a pose-able figure. It would probably fit right in there spread eagle -- attached to the elements. So, maybe an imperial interrogation chamber book nook? <-You know... for the kids. ••• Stratus! FEAR!!!
