After Qualifying 3rd, Chris Edmunds was denied a potential win after 2 red flags and the race later being abandoned. However, he still managed to come home 3rd overall, 1st in class with fastest lap for good measure! Apologies for the shaky GoPro, not sure why the video recorded like that. Great to see you out there making more overtakes than a whole season on F1, but you need to learn to toe and heal ( the Americans call it rev matching ) It will be easier on your transmission, and give you more car speed. Coasting into a corner with the clutch pedal down is not good. Try Warren Hughes, a good guy and trainer.

Hi Chris - only just seen this. This was my very first race ever. I drove the racing line. I'm sorry that I simply hadn't seen you make the move up the inside on the fastest corner on the track at the bottom of Craners so I couldn't avoid you. The impact was a complete shock. From what I can see there was room to move left and across and even to have cut the corner as oppose to having the contact. But perhaps you assumed that I had seen you? Anyhow, hopefully not too much damage done to your car. We have got away with a new door skin. Hopefully see you out again and have the chance to shake hands and move on. Happy racing and stay safe! That bloody Galaxie looks like it handles like a barge, fishtailing all over the place and ruining the enjoyment of driving a well prepared mini in the corners.

You need to heal and toe downshift, your gearbox will last longer and love you for it
Here in the gun totin" states a lot of Mustangs get wrecked in crashes. And that's just on the streets! Fast driving morons!
Nice work avoiding the obstetrical, but your still coming into the corners to fast that's giving you massive understeer one thing a mini has a lot of, your leaving you braking zone way to late thats robbing you of corner speed, and get your foot of the bloody clutch peddle, it's not a foot rest, that's what the foot rest is for next to it.
Always appreciate your comments. I'm at Goodwood Wednesday, will try and change some of my bad habits.

A little 'heal and toe' goes a long way!
Strange technique to say the least, downshifts from 4th to 2nd without heal and toe, then uses clutch release as second brake pedal. The car is never balanced in the braking phase hence the different lines every lap
@@ianbrown9082 "Heel", not "heal". Toe on brake pedal, heel on accelerator, or vice versa. Mind you, that's when brake and accelerator pedals are some distance apart. Pedals should be placed/modified so that when you brake, the two are alongside, and close together. After braking, hold the pedal down and roll the right hand side of the right foot across the accelerator pedal WHILE STILL BRAKING to blip it to match the revs when you change down. Yeah, I know that you know this, but lots of folk, many of whom have raced for years without doing this, don't know. Not only does it allow you to brake later and get closer to the corner before turning in, but it also looks after the gearbox. And brakes are a LOT cheaper than gearboxes. Never too late to learn.

The 3.4 Jaguar is clearly faster in a straight line…the light mini is clearly faster in the breaking zones and cornering. The Jaguar is qualifying and racing his race. Its down to you to get past, not for him to suit your race….he is racing for himself and in his class.
Those bloody Yank tanks are like adults playing rugby against primary school boys. They should only be allowed to race against other Yank tanks. Great drive, Chris!

Group N in Australia has become just like this. Subgroup Nc is from 1965-1972 and is dominated by V8s, with the occasional Torana getting in the way. And that seems to be all that TV commentators want to see, and sell to the public, anyway. Never mind all the great racing seen in Nb between Minis, Cortinas, Valiants and EH Holdens.

Interesting gearing. Most of the lap in third, including the Craners, second for the esses, fourth for the top straight and a bit of the pit straight. 8000 rpm, I think.

Well Done. You first win is always special. A trick to starting in the wet, start in 2nd gear, it helps kill the wheel spin. You need to look at learning to toe and heal. It will give you better control and corner speed.

Oh man, I bet his feet were toasty by the end of that. I used to have an '80 Mini in Applejack Green and after a while I could feel my feet getting hot from the engine.
I had several Mk1 Jags, narrow rigid back end ruined handling. 3.4 litre with second version discs stopped well for a vintage car.
I raced/hillclimbed bricks 60 years ago. Half the thrill was the sense of speed with your arse only 8 inches off the ground. This variant has the short gearshift and decent synchromesh. When the spot welded seams at each corner of the body were removed, the similar shape to the A30 was very apparent.

Impressive understeer...
Much more fun, and quicker, by setting the rears to straight ahead, heel and toeing, getting the back out and driving oversteer through the corners with your boot in it.
@@phildavenport4150 A bit of trail braking into the corner will help that as well.
