A slightly eclectic mix of things that interest me, such as old cars, cars in general, dogs, single malt scotch whisky, fixing things, collecting and restoring straight razors, the list is endless. None of the films are intended to be instructional, so if you are looking for expert guidance on something, then best find another channel. There are a lot of self-professed experts out there and some are even genuine.

Peugeot 3008 MPV (2016) - Wing Mirror Replacement
Переглядів 13 тис.11 місяців тому
After my wife had a tangle with a tree, trying to avoid an oncoming car, the passenger wing mirror needed replacing. New ones are very costly, so found a good second hand one for £45. Took a couple of hours to fit it.

Land Rover Discovery 3 Tailgate will not open
Переглядів 6 тис.Рік тому
If you own a Land Rover Discovery 3 for long enough, eventually there will be a fault causing the the tailgate not to open. This can be caused by a fault with the switch itself, or by a failed actuator. Fortunately, on this occasion, it was the switch, which is an easier and less costly job to fix. This video shows how I determine the fault and replace the switch. This is a record of how I repl...

Land Rover Discovery 3: Wheel Change and Wheel Nut Replacement
Excellent video, thank you. My Disco had the same problem. When I inspected the switch, the actual tiny red button still works fine when touched. The problem was with the hinged flap: this has a raised bulge on it, which is supposed to press on the little red switch. The bulge seems to have worn enough so that it no longer presses the switch. Temporary fix: superglue a strip of rubber band across to ensure the bulge presses against the red switch. Hopefully it will hold until a replacement switch unit arrives. Thanks again.
very very useful, thank you! Just wondering how much oil you put in?
I do not know off hand the volume of oil the gearbox holds, but all you need do is fill it until the oil starts flowing out of the filler plug. Once the overflow stops, you know that the oil level is correct.
That gaiter replacement over joint looks very difficult....i understand what you did pushed it in ovrrself then pulled back...over &over...with grease...things get slippery...have not heard of any easier way.
It was hard work and the film only shows a fraction of the length of time it took. If I have to do it again, I'll have a think about another way, maybe stretching the gaiter a bit beforehand.
So glad I found your video. i wouldn't have wanted to tackle this job otherwise.
Glad it was of use.
Fantastic - thank you. Had thought to cut the wiring at the mirror and an use the wiring to pull through the replacement - it didn't work because the original wiring was clipped internally. Had to cut a hole like you.
Glad that the film was of use to you Stuart and that you got the job sorted.
While removing old wiring just use cord or zipties to thread new wiring. Then it takes 20sec with no cutting
Yes, it was one of the things that I thought of after pulling the wing mirror off, unfortunately. I'll remember next time. Thanks.
Hi, I’ve got to do this with my drivers side door, could you tell me the types of clips you used please? Thanks in advance and great tutorial video.
Hi Steve, Are you talking about the trim clips that you see me fitting from about 5 minutes 48 seconds in the film? If so, I cannot remember exactly where I got them, but it was probably eBay or Amazon. They are nothing particularly special. If you search eBay for "10x VVO® Peugeot Front Door Card Clips / Trim Panel Clips- 9341PF", then I think they might be right.
@ Perfect. I’ll take a look. Thank you Sir
After you have removed the needle seating, check for the spacing washer that should be under it. If you do not check, and then put another in, the spacing will be wrong and the float needle will close in the seating at the right time. 48 pence + postage and packing from LS Engineers. Thanks for that tip. Useful to know for next time.
Broken muffler
No, the exhaust is fine on the car, it's more of a recording distortion that you hear. Although, the car is quite loud due to engine upgrades.
Beautiful
Best colour by a million miles in my view. The spot lights at the front are a good move too aesthetically.
Thank you.
Absolutely gorgeous!!!
In my case one of the wires had corroded through. I only noticed it when it broke. Once I rewired all good.
My best years ❤️ them my tr250 tr6. Tr4 tr3 had them all . Them were the days my friends. Fun to drive easy to work on And they all fell apart ! Rust , wiring , was bad on them all . But the must fun driving cars ever made! Wish I had them all right now ❤ anyone else fell.the same way ?
Up until about 25 years ago, rust was an issue with pretty much every British built car (in fact every car, no matter where it was built). But, I agree, British sports cars did have more than their fair share of reliability issues. Nevertheless, they all looked fantastic and drove well in their era, and thankfully there have been many enthusiasts since production ended who have kept them alive. Long may they last.
Beautiful Car.
Great car, love the TR6
An excellent tribute to such beautiful souls and ❤lovely memories
Thank you.
Really helpful video and just what I needed. Top tip: tie some string to the old wing mirror wires before pulling them through and then use the string to bring the new wires back in and I avoided needing to cut the door metal
Thanks. And yes, that's a great idea to put some string on the old wires. I did think of it, but unfortunately it was afterwards, annoyingly. Glad the film was of use to you.
Nie łatwiej zdemontować głośnik niż wycinać dziurę w drzwiach?
@@slawio2012 It may have worked better to go in via the speaker, but the wiring was caught up much higher in the door, so even with the speaker out I might not have been able to reach the wiring. Cutting just seemed the easiest option to me, as I had a rotary tool to hand. And once a hole was cut, it was easy to reach the wires.
Thank you for the video. I needed it today for my 1975 Triumph Spitfire. The drum as so tight I couldn't get it to spin. Hadn't even noticed the adjuster on the back. Thanks!
Glad it helped!
Should have slacked the adjuster off for the brake shoes through the disc before trying to hammer off next time. Just some advice
I agree. For some reason, I'd thought that putting the car into Park Brake Service Mode at the start automatically pulled the brake shoes in, but I don't think it did. Then, of course, once I was into the job, with my head down cracking on, I didn't think to make life easier by using the adjuster, I just got to it with the hammer. All a learning experience as it's not a job I'd done before, so will know better next time.
Mine has same problem, not opening the tailgate. Will try the same process. Thank you so much
It's not a bad job. Just a bit of a fiddle attaching the wires. Hope the process works for you. Good luck.
Cutting well, very nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
Whats the idea behind sea foam?

Hi, I really appreciated your video, I was wondering if the procedure for putting the EPB into services mode is the same for the Discovery 4, that it doesn't have the key but the ignition button? Thnaks
I'm sorry, I do not know the answer to that. I would suggest that you join the excellent Disco3 forum, where there is a section for Disco 4 owners. I'm sure someone there will know the answer and will help. Here's the link: www.disco3.co.uk/forum
Regarding my car Disco 4 SDV6 the EPB does not activate automatically but with the engine off the gearbox goes into parking mode and therefore this would prevent the rear disc adjustment
As I do not know the differences between the Disco 3 and 4, I do not know what to suggest to you, other than to look on the forum I mentioned earlier. Also, if you search UA-cam for Land Rover Discovery 4 rear discs and brake pads replacement, I see there are a few videos that might be helpful. Good luck.
This is interesting as on my Stag I seemed to go through coils because of the heat from the engine, a chap I talked to who knows a lot about Stags suggested a resin coil instead so I have bought a Viper one so I shall see how I go.
Great video, now I know how to setup my newly rebuilt Zenith 24T carb on my old Villiers MK12.
Glad I could help
Lovely car. I spent this weekend driving an early series 1 lotus 7. There amazing cars
Hi there, I’ve just discovered your channel and subscribed. Love this video. We have twice stayed, the second time only three weeks ago in St Mary’s church opposite the Pen-y-bont hotel. It’s been converted in to a holiday home but with part of the original church being kept. We also visited Castell-y-Bere. You have some great drone footage. 😀 I do have a hiking channel myself if you are interested. All the best Dave.
Hello Dave, Thanks for your kind remarks on the video. Glad you enjoyed it. I do know the church you mention and have wondered what it would be like to stay there. I've subscribed to your channel, so will take a look. Best wishes.
@@OffMyCloud Thank you for subscribing, its really appreciated. If you go in to the link on my Cadair Idris video there is a link to the church on the Sykes Cottages website. I can highly recommend it.
TR-250 owner here, Nice
What oil i may yo use?
Details of the oil I used for the transfer box can be found at about 4 minutes and 50 seconds into the video.
Nice!
good video + information!
Looks like a great bit of road, but yes, that scuttle shake and wiper blade need sorting out. www.youtube.com/@sevendrives
Good video mate ..
Thanks 👍
Where did you get the solid steel lug nuts?
I purchased those steel wheel nuts from a firm called Wrington Engineering. They were very helpful. Can be found with a web search.
I'm using shell lately as they recommend better than Tesco Esso. I'm Going back to Esso Tesco.
So simple and helpful, thank you
You're welcome Casey.
Thanks, very clear. Not a fan of the liquid effect fades though.
Glad it was of some use. I don't like straight cut video edits, but agree that for some videos the liquid fade isn't the best. I think it's particularly bad in this video because there is a lot of close up work.
Great video thanks - have just picked up 2 punches and a colt. Running OK but I will follow this process with the carbs to get running correctly.
Glad the film was of help. Good luck with the punches and the colt.
nice one had placed the oil ring wrong position,,,,,,,I can see you are on manual suspension is it easy to convert from air suspension
Thanks Boniras. My car is on the original air suspension. I've never considered changing it, so I wouldn't know if it is easy to do or not.
Nice job done 👍
Thanks 👍
did you ever find out what caused this ??
As I suspected, it's a failure of the glow plugs that is causing this issue. It's potentially a very expensive repair (if the plugs snap off) and a lot specialists don't want to touch the job. It's not too bad for me, as I don't use the car much in the winter and if it's an emergency I use the method shown in the video. It's not ideal, but better than spending lots of money for the little I use it.
Perfect, thanks
Glad it helped!
I can't find this grey part on RR sport 2008 3.6 diesel :(
Unfortunately, my video is specifc to the LR Disco 3. I don't know if it is the same on your RR Sport.
Jaysus... £250 for 20 of them.. The original ones are hateful things though..
Yes, they are expensive. I replaced mine over several months.
Where can I get a new gasket for the carby to bowl? Please
I got mine on eBay. You'll also find them for sale at online shops, such as japgmowers.
Good evening I.m have same problem but I cannot locate the sensor where exactly is it as lots show rough is right or left to back or front of engine how close to coolant bottel ect as I.m no mechanic all looks the same
Hello, If you stand at the front of the car and look at the engine (with plastic cover removed), the sensor on my RHD, 2005, Disco 3 diesel is at the front of the engine, slightly right of centre and just behind the fan cover. In relation to the coolant bottle, it's just to the left of it. Hope that helps.
Will these fit with 18 inche wheels thanks Rob
My rims are 18 inch. I used the kit supplied by Powerful UK. Main thing is that the carriers need changing to larger ones. I'd suggest looking at this link and checking with the supplier that what they are selling meets your requirements. www.powerfuluk.com/land-rover-discovery-3-front-brake-upgrade-refurb-kit-336mm.html
Thanks - those caps on the factory fit nuts had me a bit confused as the cap that looks so similar (dimple centre) on the locking nut has to be removed of course! I think I have 27mm on the rear spare, 22mm on the locking nut socket and 23mm on the wheels!! Thanks for the video - I have a Disco as well but you might enjoy a bit of UK scenery from my very rare Series 1. ua-cam.com/video/Dy5Sbr5YOG0/v-deo.html
Glad my film was of use to you. Just watching your film about your series 1. Very nice.
Many thanks 👌🏻
Happy to help!
