PT. 6 River Adventure Series [Fall Striper Madness On The Miramichi]
This whole trip was about redemption, in the spring I was not able to get out for the striper bite on the miramichi which runs from end of April to mid June. I was able to accomplice 2 things in this outing. 1. Get redemption and 2. beat the threshold of a 30+ inch fish that has evaded me for years. I've done it in the spring but it just seemed to be such a daunting task for myself in the fall. I had 3 good bites which each fish would of been a 30+ inch fish, luckily I was able to land 1 of those 3 bites and it didn't disappoint!
So stay tuned for this Latest instalment to the river adventure series, because this is a jam packed video loaded with some nice fish!

Smallmouth Feeding Frenzy, REMOTE Lake Fishing

Here's an old video from 2022 of the 3 stooges in a remote lake in NB. As always when the 3 of us get together its a great time, and this trip really lived up to our hopes. Not only did we find the fish, we were able to pattern them which let us stay on them all day. When the bite changed later into the day I pivoted to a more finesse style of the same senko. That presentation being slowed down...

We got some big ones up around the north shore also and they're all coming up from the Miramichi, good job Mitch!
great video buddy! i always wear a glove on my left hand that i grip their mouth with, had lots of sore sore thumbs over the years lol
I am coming up to try the fall tournament for the 1st time. Might catch you on the water. I liked and subscribed. Cheers
Awesome, hope you enjoy yourself and best of luck. I'm sure you'll see me on the water, I'll be there
Great Video!! I always like watching you're videos..
When both rods went off near the end. Did you loose the second fish?
@@lucamadventure6675 negative landed that fish just didn't show it on the video
@mbnoutdoorsnb I was so waiting to see what was on that second line and you left me hanging ( ah bien la ) hahaha 😂
Lol just a dink striper
In general you will not find any nicer people than from that area .
@terrymunn1224 yeah some real good people around!
Great Video!! I really enjoyed this one.. I was a big bass lol
W
Nice small mouth Mitch.
When you said Trout Lake I was first thinking the one at Lake Utopia 😅
Lol nah not there, never fished that actually
Nice video, going to fish smallies in St. Joghn river two weeks later, but never been there and have no idea where to start.
@@BingHanFishing oh your coming here for the pan-am?
@@mbnoutdoorsnb yes
@@BingHanFishing you doing any pre fishing before the event?
@@mbnoutdoorsnb I don’t have time, leaving on the 24th, only the official practice day left for me
@HB_Love_Fishing oh I got cha, I'm there as a volunteer for a media boat, I'd love to give you some hints but I'm not able to. All I can say is watch dome of my videos from nakawic and surrounding areas. And use your knowledge you already have for fall fishing. If you don't see them shallow then they may be deep on structure idk. But use your knowledge bass are bass and relate to most of the same stuff no matter where your from.
Oooo the struggles. All kinds of fun though
Your right, just a part of it!
This is one of my favourite rivers on Earth. I used to fish it a ton for trout in June and early July and then Salmon in October. It's a gem of a river.
It really is, I'd like to fish the lower part of it, but I figure I need my yak for that.
I miss when I was younger and did a lot of brook fishing in SW NB but cant handle the walking anymore.
Great video! Im from Nova Scotia and making a trip to new brunswick with 2 buddys ( 16ft lowe bass boat ) and looking to fish large mouth, where is the best place to fish for them with a campground near by.
@@digntime967 dm me on fb @mbnoutdoorsnb
What kind of fish were being dumped?
A mix of fish to be honest. I'm not exactly sure which species but they do it everyday, whatever fish that comes into the fish ladders at the damn that the workers dont kill. Not that it's done on purpose, maybe some species but dont quote me on that or don't get caught in the damn itself.
i heard they live 8 to 12 tears old
Sweet shad fellas
yum!! what an awesome catch
Yes it was!
Que lugar tan hermoso 🤩
Great Video.. I really enjoyed this one.. I am glad all of you got some trout..
What river are you fishing at
Looks as you guys had a decent day.
Yeah not to bad for maybe 2 hours. Short trip end of day
@@mbnoutdoorsnb were you in the striper cup?
Awesome work brother. Gotta Love those Brookies
Yes sir they really are something else! Thanks!
Nice fish at about 8 in, nice colors, and tasty cookout, NB has some beautiful areas for sure, been through a few times, never got to fish the Miramichi tho, thanks for sharing adventure, sub and like 95
Love watching your videos! You're on the right track with Panther Martin spinners Them along with Mepps Black Fury and Blue Fox Vibrax are among some of, if not the best trout spinners on the market. Never neglect to try the black patterns as is proven by the Black Fury! Cheers!
Thanks a lot! I'll have to try the black pattern.
On the Mepps Aglia?
That's correct mepps silver inline spinner with yellow body and red dots on it. Not sure about the aglia, I just know it's a mepps. And one I think off the rainbow lure but this video mainly the mepps
I use a short narrow canoe with a low seat and a long kayak paddle, best of both worlds. Lots of room for 1 guy with gear and 2 dogs, but maneuverable like a kayak.
Now that's really good idea!
I use a short narrow canoe with a low seat and a long kayak paddle. It's like the best of both worlds. Tons of room for 1 person, dogs, and gear, but you get that maneuverability like a kayak. Lol it's funny that came up because twisted tea is the second most common can found on the trail where I live, after bud light! 🤣
Man that trout looked tasty!
Best Tasting I've had in a long time!
First time watcher, also from NB. Enjoyed it very much! Keep at em bud.
Thanks! Glad you liked it
I worked for a long time as a diver on the aquaculture sites in southwestern NB, and definitely noise or movement can spook fish. I don't think "ambient" noise, like walking normally on an overhung bank would bother them to a great degree but a sharp, sudden noise- like breaking off that rooted tree, or it falling into the water- will send 'em into flight mode. As to movements, kinda the same thing- if the movement is slow and fluid (ie, non-predatory), they don't perceive a threat, but a sharp, sudden movement- casting for distance comes to mind- is a visual trigger, like an osprey plunging or a mink ambush. Thanks for the vid, and tight lines.
No thanks for the reply!
Trenton called it! "This whole bend is gonna have trout in it."
Damn right he did, and I know there's still more in that turn lol.
The man only had one glove
Lol yeah the other one was keeping the strap on the front from rubbing the paint away 🤣
Bonk em boys . I am here in NB too. Give me a shout next run . 1,2 tea
1, 2 TEA! Let's go 🔥
Nice Vid Sir! What is the biggest Pickel you've caught ever? I love catching them. On top water, there is nothing better. I found a spot in N.B that no one ever goes too, off the beaten path. In a small boat, that catches monster pickerel almost every time out there. 24",25',26 all the time. Getting something under 20" is rare. It's a special spot. Honey hole. Tight lines Sir. Keep coming with the vids.
The one that I measured was 26" in one of my videos titled catching big new brunswick pickerel that one was 26". Many moons ago I was fishing owl lake in the valley and I hooked and landed the biggest pickle even to this day. But novascotia is another beast when it comes to pickerel, they are just built different.
Cool video.. Keep up the great work..
Cool video, love exploring new water and places where people don' usually go. Get that fly rod you won't regret it.
oh its on the top of the list for sure, and glad you liked it.
Picked up a 7'6" 5-6 wt for trout, shad and smallmouth.
@@mbnoutdoorsnb perfect! Can't wait to see the video!
Great vid and content. Just subscribed to your channel. Keep up the awesome work and tight lines.
Thanks, I appreciate it!
And if where
Is this in new Brunswick
Correct this is NB
Wasn't aware we had Largemouth in the Mactaquac reservoir?
Thats correct
I really enjoyed this video.. keep up the great fishing content.. I never went fishing for largemouth bass before.. I would like to try it someday..
Bro where do I catch shad in nb?
any river that flows into the saint john river the lower end of it, give it another couple weeks and they should be making there way up. Cannon River any of the ones on the lower end, they run in from the ocean.
Good video Mitch!
❤
The flowage is in my backyard. Greeat largie and smallie fishing!
I can tell from my time spent on the water that day. I will be coming back, I feel if I look hard enough, I should find my pb hidden amongst the mess of cover.
@@mbnoutdoorsnb I’ve heard of 5 pounders in there. Hoping to hook into one myself, got one just shy of 4 out of there last year. Hope ya find them when ya come back!
Get a net
Great video Mitch!! I really enjoyed this one..
Thanks nick!
not a bright and not a grilse 😂 that’s 100% a kelt reconditioning very well but non the less a kelt, also a female adult salmon, best to just drop the net and let her go boys,
best looking black salmon I've ever seen if that's the case, especially for middle of may.
@@mbnoutdoorsnb I’ve hooked enough brights to tell ya that’s not a bright, kelts drop to the estuaries to recondition thru April and sometimes into late may. Color’s look amazing and she’s putting on weight but you can see the slinky looks to her still. Beauty fish buddy but Ask around you’ll hear the same opinion.
@@flyfishingbushwhacker oh i believe ya, I'm just impressed how quick they change back. I figured it would take longer to get that nice pink color.
@@mbnoutdoorsnb it’s pretty cool , some kelts only take a few weeks to recondition, and then hammer right back to the head waters while some might hang out for a few months and not head back up untill fall or late summer, others head to cross the Atlantic feeding in Greenland before returning on a two some times 3 year cycle. Crazy how different Atlantic salmon are from other salmon species, they can spawn multiple times over years , some stay in the river and some decide to go on a 2 year road trip :)
