The DIY Robotics Sanding Cell
The Robotic Sanding Cell is a simplified approach to industrial robotic sanding. While DIY Robotics isn’t aiming to reinvent the wheel, we designed this solution to bring industrial robotic sanding into small and medium businesses looking to improve upon their sanding processes.
The combination of these 3 leaders (DIY Robotics, ATI Industrial Automation and 3M ) in their industries brought forward a solution that offers flexibility, performance, and usability.

    it's possible to add any gripper? there is no stl file for that.. do you have any solution?

    • @DIYRobotics
      @DIYRobotics 4 роки тому

      Hi Pavano, You can add a gripper on the robot end of arm. We dit not include stl file for the robot tool , but you can easily find a gripper on internet. Check out www.thingiverse.com, there are several models. The robot uses 6 PWM channels to control the servo motors. Arduino Micro has 7 available PWM channels. You can use the 7th channel to control a servo motor to close / open the gripper. Thank you for your interest :) Don't forget to share your project on the forum ! forum.diy-robotics.com/

    • @DIYRobotics
      @DIYRobotics 4 роки тому

      @@pavanoriccardo8136 There is no dedicated connector on the board for a 7th PWM. You could solder a wire directly on the correct Arduino pin to use the 7th PWM. To control this PWM, you would have to modify a bit the Arduino program. Suggestion: Use the Do1 signal in the software to indicate to the Arduino program when to open and close the gripper.

      We haven't perform any tests on the maximum payload. The servo motors used in this project are low cost which also means low torque. As an educative robotic project, our goal was to offer a fully functionnal robotic platform at low cost. But you could buy servo motors with higher torques if you want better performance ! And don't forget to share your robot on our forum :) forum.diy-robotics.com/hc/en-us/community/topics/360001653371-Educative-Cell

      Is it precise?

    • @DIYRobotics
      @DIYRobotics 4 роки тому

      The minimum increment command on each servo motor is 1deg. There is also a precision loss due to robot stiffness. But it is precise enough to repeat simple cycles as shown in the video.

      For most of the parts, 8mm screws are used. But sometimes, 10mm fits better. Roughly, you will need : (4x)(SH M3x8) (4x)(SH M3x10) (2x)(SH M2.5x8) (2x)(SH M2.5x10) (30x)(SH M2x8) (6x)(SH M2x10)
