I was really lucky to get this (my first and only) footage of a bat. They are usually so fast that by the time the camera reacts to them they are out of field. But this time, there was already a mouse in action, triggering the camera just in time to catch the bat.
Then came another surprise performer; a frog, probably a "forest green tree frog" モリアオガエル, who'd been part of a mating party in the tree above and gotten pushed out by another member of the party.
The mouse continued his business and the water skaters were pretty much oblivious to the whole thing. I tried to see if the bat took anything from the surface of the water but can't see anything. Can you?
