Ingenium Checks
Переглядів 15 тис.11 місяців тому
We show you what checks we do before commencing a chain or a big repair on the Ingenium based engine. We have caught a few out now that simply weren't worth doing a chain on as the engine was nearly shot anyway. None of this is in the official Land Rover process before commencing a chain repair.
Ingenium part 3. DPFs, chains, turbos. Are they one to avoid?
Переглядів 39 тис.11 місяців тому
In this video we discuss the repairs we carry out weekly on the Land Rover Ingenium engine. This one is a little random as it is judt random clips we have filmed but here's my thoughts on these engines. #cars #garage #repair #workshop #carrepair #kent #landrover #jaguar #cambelt #timingbelt #timingchain #ingenium

Amazing work Josh!
Another one from Rob & Chris, but my big intro to you was the hour long video when you changed the timing chains on an Ingenium engine for them. I have watched some of your videos working on Jags as well. Loved the Maserati videos too. 👍😎
Not sure if you’ll see this as it’s a while later I’m watching these videos. But have the replacement timing chain kits etc. solved the failure issue, by that I mean are they likely to fail again or have the material/manufacturing problems been sorted?
@ThePowelly999 err they definitely last longer. We have seen a few of the revised kits needed doing though
@ Many thanks, keep up the great videos, garages as they should be!👍
Very good
Iv a Toyota hilux surf and the only serious damage it has is the bonnets Abit stiff from lack of use it’s 35 years old
That has had a hard 75000 miles on the interior. Vans rarely have an easy life.
Love the music..fair play..
Selling for my mate, my daughter, my dog...as soon as i hear that my ears prick up!!
Nice
Great show..love your programmes..❤❤
Josh do u know anyone from Strood? I grew up there in the 70s.❤❤❤
I came over from Rob and Chris really enjoying the content mate, keep it coming, stay Lucky.
Nice work dude
wire integrity was okay so you wouldn't use a voltage drop in the situation but would you try to Scope it?
Anyone ever made more than 200.000km/125.000 miles without changing anything (timing chain, etc)…? My car now has nearly 200.000km and I am afraid that the day will come soon… 😢
*i seen the imobiliser at 29.04 when you plugged the light tester on to the battary you can see the green light on the imobliser light up green inside the fuse box you missed it not sure if anyone noticed too.. At 33.34 was when you found the imobimobliser *
is the gateway unlock the same one for alfa/fiat etc
Do you have any experience with exhaust gas in the interior? Where it can come from..? It smells like more like burned oil, like the blow-by gases. Only when the car is running and standing. In the engine compartment there is absolutely no smell… Thanks!!
@@Tom-iu5yd have the injector seals been checked?
@ no, not yet. Can I easily check it by myself? I am a bit concerned about the engine condition. It has now 120.000 miles. I change oil every 6.000 miles, but definitely the engine is running more rough than 1-2 years ago.
Josh mate at 27:40 in there is a green light inside the fuse / relay box might this be what your looking for?...
@@mrcogginsgarage7062 yep. Saw it on the video watching it back!
Wow, I didn't understand all of that, but I found your approach very interesting...thank you very much for being brave enough to show your thoughts processes in action...no wonder Chris and Rob come to you when they are stumped....I still remember your vid on the range rover cam setup.... brilliant...
What a great bit of detective work Josh.👍
Nice one mate
Total junk. I will stick with my Skoda Kodiaq
A fault like this reminds me of when I worked in IT, you could chase a fault for days, and then all of a sudden bingo. Very frustrating but when you work it out it's very satisfying, I also hate to be beaten. A top job is done🙂 there.
Worth noting here the petrol versions aren't any less reliable than any other engine. They don't suffer from the same oil dilution issues as the diesel. I wouldn't touch the straight 4 diesel for love nor money!
Thanks, well done, came here from Rob and Chris, they took a huge risk with this car and obviously were very relieved when you sorted it. The SR guys are very competent and can fix most things, but they also rely on a network of guys like you and Aidyn (spelling? sorry) to help them, thankfully you know your job and have perseverance, you will never be short of customers. Always difficult with a crash vehicle, salvage yard, unknown history and Italian electrics(to be fair they have improved enormously).
Hi how do you charge for a job like this ?,time spent or just what you think is warranted as you obviously spend alot of time over a few days , great vid good to see other techs thought process 👍
Came to this via Salvage Rebuilds - really interesting (for geeks like me)😂
👍🇦🇺 Thanks Salvage Rebuilds
From 27m.36s Watch the video back you can see the 2 green led's flashing when you lift the fuse box up
Love Josh, such a wise young head on muscular, young shoulder's. ❤❤❤
Good on ya mate!!Cheers from Sydney,Australia.
Under the fuse box is the perfect hiding place with regards to installing....Hiding in plain sight as the saying goes...The small flat "relay" must be the RF reciever for the immobiliser...Great video though matey.....🤔😏😀🇬🇧
That looks like a meta trak GPS system. I bet they're is a sticker in the service book or hidden with an IMEI code for the SIM. Companies are also hiding systems in relays
Get a lot of these fitted on Merc’s by 3rd party renters ,hirers
Josh you actually saw it flash in your earlier footage on camera but you didn’t see it yourself?
@jonathanmoss5328 nope. Noticed that when I watched it back. I had thar fuse box nearly right out and I think pulling on thr wires pulled it off over Christmas
Great job josh
Great work and not beaten by it. Do you know of any sites to get free wiring diagrams from ibiza 1.0 2021
I think theirs an immobilisation box under the fuse box how do I know did I fit it no I didn’t I’ve just watched salvage rebuilds 😂😂
Brilliant video 👍
I did see a flashing green light under the fuse box at position 27.35 in the video, while I was watching and thought it strange. just shows josh, it looks the perfect place to cut power to the starter, without running a load of wires around the car unnecessarily. real old school immobiliser trick that I had one like that on my rs turbo in the 90’s 😂😂, you got there in the end josh, great learning curve, head scratcher 👍
me too i shouted at the screen but Josh didn't hear me 😁great conclusion i hate aftermarket stuff but these things are necessary in this day and age to keep our property where it belongs
Bloody like Russian roulette
The small black flat piece which you suggested was a relay is the ‘Ghost’. The larger box is the tracker with the SIM card slotted into it.
Nice to see a young lad doing well in his trade. One thing I've noticed since the number of youngsters coming into skilled trades has declined is that the ones who have chosen to enter a particular trade are of a better quality.
Wow !. Who'd want to be an auto electrician !!
Well done Josh I’ve been there and feel the stress I worked for a dealer and had a car come in non runner had been to a number of places for electrical faults and no one could fathom it out after a day of stripping and checking my manager wanted me to give up after more head scratching and I’m still not sure why I did it I pulled all the engine management fuses and checked the back of them, one wasn’t working you probed it as normal and it was fine, try telling a customer its cost a days labour for a fuze 😏
Excellent work!. Had jobs like this and always think of them as a learning process and makes me a little sharper on the next one. 👍
Well done !!!😂
Looks like it has a tracker also in that immobiliser.
Had exactly the same thing on a BMW X5. Codes for starter motor circuit. Had a reaper immobiliser which was just a white key fob.
