Anime (Japanese: アニメ?, [anime] ( listen))[a] is Japanese hand-drawn or computer animation. The word is the abbreviated pronunciation of "animation" in Japanese, where this term references all animation.[1] Outside Japan, anime is used to refer specifically to animation from Japan or as a Japanese-disseminated animation style often characterized by colorful graphics, vibrant characters and fantastical themes.[2][3] Arguably, the stylization approach to the meaning may open up the possibility of anime produced in countries other than Japan.[4][5][6] For simplicity, many Westerners strictly view anime as an animation product from Japan.[3] Some scholars suggest defining anime as specifically or quintessentially Japanese may be related to a new form of orientalism.[7]

Hey! this is a devlog that I made for a (different) project that I've been working on for a while.
I made this video towards the end of 2023, almost a year ago. Due to a lot of different reasons, I wasn't able to upload it and kind of forgot about these video projects. But I figured I should just put it out anyway if I want to keep making these at some point.
I hope you like it and thanks for watching!
If you would like to check out my games, I have them here and they are all free:

it ain't much but its honest work I've been working on a game in my free time for a little over a year now. I had a bunch of webms lying around from recordings of development throughout this time so I thought I'd put em all together to see the progress.

Your image for putting modules on the character kinda looks... sus and lewd...
I will follow you. Would be nice if you could cover how you implement systems in your games.

@@YakedoTostuto class of 2020!
This is a great log, glad you got round to uploading it!
Your name is not funny to me because I am a well adjusted adult who pays their taxes
You work to hard
Best of luck! this vid and ur last has helped isnpire me to give game dev a crack lol
Its so funny that I ran into a lot of the same issues as you did with my current project! Luckily I made a save/load system early and got it to save player customization and inventory. I used resources with the inventory and trust me that took FOREVER (months of long weekly sessions of troubleshooting). A method I tried in an earlier version worked with the latest godot version and thats what solved my problem (I can't remember the details of what exactly I did because I took a long break from programming the game). I can maybe try and figure it out for you if your still interested. Blunder 3 is something I have been dreading!!! Hey I know it's been a bit since you worked on the game but if you can give me any pointers sometime? I'm a complete hobbyist who's self taught and advice from someone who works in the field and has had a similar project would be extremely beneficial and exciting!
u fail when you stop trying. Not even bother watching the video, is just u complaining
Got further than I ever did. I spent a week trying to learn Godot, found it overwhelming and insanely unintuitive, got mad at it and went back to learning C++ instead, which I've had greater success with, but but with my work experience being in gravekeeping and bike repair instead of degrees and computer science, it was doomed to fail. I still slowly pick away at my current project every now and then, but I don't have the same faith in my ability to learn and do better you do lol. Best of luck with your game development journey.
JUST LIKE MAKE GAME
"unique duplicates of materials and shaders" bruh, you should put all of them in a folder or two since the start
Keep em coming!
Pretty impressed with how its coming along so far
Sounds like its t ime for horse game 3
"I do not fear the man who fears I fear the man who the man fears." - Man

Cool stuff… since the flash light isn’t attached to the sprite, it’d be even more fitting to just have a floating droid companion.. like the pods from Nier: Automata 🤔 Then you could even give it more uses than just a light source if ya wanted to 🤷♂️
Your first game just looks like cruelty squad
Really underrated 😅
Looks promising, altough I don't see how you'll mix risk-of-rain-esque ability stacking with silent-hill-esque dark flashlight exploration. One requires an explosive, combat+movement-focused gameplay, the other something more subdued, where the gameplay is defined by your limitations.
I have a TON of feedback! Would it be cool if we were to get into contact on Discord DMs? It's a bit long for a UA-cam comment, but I can't find anywhere but here and your itch comments to reach out
itch allows long form reviews in comments, so that would be fine. I also have a community chat on my patreon that is accessible freely

This game looks absolutley amazing. I wish you luck on the dev process and I cant wait for the future dev logs
I like your thought process. When you started describing you upgrade system I just wanted you to say hello to a 10yo mods mechanic from a 2014 hit game Warframe (idk when it became a hit I just know that the game is insanely vast and deep, and is still actively developed and it's immaculate imho). Don't worry though, your upgrade system is more versatile with that interesting idea of putting the same mod on a different action like jump vs attack.
looks aweome! I hope the assets made using AI generated source images get replaced somewhere down the line; it's pretty distracting in an otherwise hand-crafted experience
@@skew5386 yes! I talk about that in the next devlog. Im replacing all the AI assets with hand drawn artwork
@dickbenis220 fantastic! Looking forward to it!
@@dickbenis220I didn't catch that anything was, but it's great to see someone using the tech in a responsible manner :)
Excellent devlog! While I’m not entirely sure what the game’s concept entails, the video is captivating. It seems like it could potentially explore deep, philosophical themes or even take a meta approach but it is just late and I'm tired...
Looks very promising. Love the overall aesthetic :D
turning bad framerate into a feature to show power of a spell 😂
the worse the framerate, the stronger the build lmao
Awesome! Good job! An idea for normal mode or hard mode is finding a one time use save discets. Have them be say red colored. They would enable even normal/hard mode players to use a situational quicksave but at the expense of the discete. Normal mode ones would be more common to find and the hard mode ones would be super rare. Or something simmilar. :D
that is actually a neat idea, consumable quicksaves for anywhere. maybe you could also burn them for health or buffs at save points?
@@dickbenis220 sort of like, in the world you find blank discetes and then at those checkpoints you make them into one of those types
Why don't you just use some engine that is being maintained and updated regularly? Like unreal engine Like it's free before you get a big pile of money
godot is maintained an updated regularly, and has an active community of thousands of developers and contributors, but I do want to give unreal a shot someday and see what its about
Regarding Chapter 10 (16:55), I would like to suggest adding more feedback to the combat - like screen shakes, on damage taken animations and so on.
absolutely! all of that has been implemented and will be covered in future videos!
i want to implement pistol shooting with ik in godot 3d for my 2.5d game like yours but i don't know how to can you please help
so hype tf
Sweet
Don't know why but I really like how this guy makes games and videos
Man your UI design is fucking insane I love it
this is highly underrated, i cant wait to see how this will continue.

This looks really good. Keep up the good work 👍
Hey bro, I love Horse Game 2. Just wanted to let you know.
I like what you're doing man i see you
Not my kinda game from a gamer perspective, but as someone interested in development this is fantastic work. Aesthetic, Implementation, Systems, all great stuff. Looking forward to seeing more!
i hope you stick with this art style moving forward, its sick
I miss the old weird game bro 😭
