My oil was clear on my 350 after the first change,no metal.
Thank you-a good presentation of something I might use to carry my Ktm 500 and take it to Alaska via ferry up the inside passage.
You went through all that time and effort to get a free $20 wheel bearing that can be changed in 30mins?
My stomach just turned as you did a panorama view😵💫😵
Sounds like you are trying to do things that it’s not really designed for
I definitely appreciate the honest review. There’s not enough us doing that on UA-cam. I ride a Suzuki sv650 for 6 years now (fantastic bike) and think I want to upgrade to an adventure bike in the spring. The toureg is nice, the reliability and availability of parts is what makes me nervous.
Hello, did you manage to resolve your problem ? I am currently looking for a new bike and considering an aprilia tuareg but i am concerned about reliability
@@gauthiergresle3480 the piston became disconnected from the crankshaft and the motor blew up.
@@PNW.Voyager Holy fuck...
Never ever put your helmet on the ground or else thats where itll end again but with you in it. Its bad luck
so why did you go with a spacer lift than a suspension lift?
@@dylanschmidt4607 cheap and easy :-)
You said that you’re a really tall person, how about telling us how tall you are that way we get a better feel about what you’re talking about.
@@petertrout7866 6’3
I guess almost 7foot11 by the looks of it.
@@PNW.Voyager thanks!
Terry are heavily discounted right now at the dealers just saying
Ready to Rebuild
Much better sound! But are u using a camera from Wish?
Good try of making a review video. 5/10 though! Im sure you will post better videos in the future. Hang in there
Lol, says the guy with 16 subscribers and 4 videos to his credit. Troll elsewhere mate
@@dylansheldon4913 16 subscribers and 4 videos yupp! im sad and lonely :( So I watch alooooot of bike videos, and I know what im talking about :) I also work with mc:s. So I stand my ground, this was a really shitty "review".
You keep saying you are no mechanic, but you keep trying to repair it yourself.... :):)
Friend of mine had a new 2024 Toureg 660 had to be towed during a 3 day PA wilds BDR. The issue was air filter seal not installed properly from the factory. Thus the engine sucked in dirt and dust. the bike shut down ruined his trip ! Dealer replaced the whole engine. Due to the fear of future failures the bike was quickly sold.
I get 45mpg average on my 1200 tenere???
With a new model or major revision, it's safest to wait for the third year of production. This is especially true with BMW, but it can also help with a Japanese bike too. Pre-2020 Honda ATs had fork coating issues and some had tank flaking as well.
So if that’s a GS rather than a GSA, have you swapped the wheels for spoked, or were spoked wheels standard? My 2005 has cast wheels.
@@theskiband-ur3tw the spoke wheels were an option.
@@PNW.Voyagerthanks, I’ve been wondering about this. I’d like to find some one day.
@@theskiband-ur3tw eBay is a good place to find them!
Do you know what brand bearings they use? If they use low quality bearings in one area they probably do throughout the bike.
Honestly I'm not sure. I understand bearings are a wearing item, but for an ADV bike I've never had them go bad so quickly. Not sure if you've watched any of the new vids, the Tuareg's motor blew up. The right piston became disconnected from the crank shaft... :(
@@PNW.Voyager No I didn't!!!! Wow. I'm out. T7 it is for me. I ride a Sherco 300 with over 500 hours and never replaced a single bearing. My KTM buddies replace them all the time.
Thanks for the candid info.
Only Tenere 700. 35k miles, 0 problems.
Aprillia getting towed by a KTM?! Holy cannoli
Mine dropped a valve a few months ago… managed to replace the piston, cylinder and head for a few hundred. Seems fine now but was terrifying and I was 8n the middle of know where.
100th comment lol
Stresse bonhomme
is that a 350 or 300mm exhaust?
That mx hauler you said is now $899.00 😮
dude this is awesome, Im glad it wont be cramped im only 5'11 so seeing that you are 6'4 and you still have room to lay down is legit! Thanks for the video :)
How good is that rear hugger in rain or muddy roads?
Dude, I can assure you a DR650 will fill the void without the frustrations. Save the $$ by buying a used DR with all the farkles then... FIX THE SUSPENSION FIRST. You will not look back but forward towards the next journey. Good luck
This is concerning. I'm in the PNW too and have been considering moving from my T700 to the Tuareg. I must admit that as a former F800GS and R1200GS owner I'm missing the euro fit and finish a bit. I'm close to Optimum Performance in Bellevue - are they your dealer?
The T7 is all you need, don't get suckered in by spec sheets and reviewers who need to stir the pot for content. Put the MT-07 turbo kit on if you really need more power.
F900GS?
The battery in the Tuareg is shit. Mine was dead before a year’s time. I switched to a Yuasa acid battery and I will never look back
I used to have a 7:50 Honda and I used to ride up there all of the time
After 1.5 years I sold my Tuareg! Just tired of so many trips to dealership to fix stuff! It was all on warranty, but dealer was not closed by, and weeks waiting for parts… probably lost 2 months all together in problems…. Great bike on the trail, but will never buy another Aprilia 😢
its à pocket bike for you ...😅😅😅
Meh It happens
Hate to hear you're going through this man! A loud pop like that is a fueling issue for sure. By the way, oil in the airbox is fairly normal, and will recirculate back into the engine, so I wouldn't be worried as much with that. Older bikes used to have a hose that dumped it on the ground, but EPA regs and stuff. I always start small. Fuses, Plug, Ignition coil, then timing/valve checks. Knowing it has been flashed though, my money is on the ECU. I''d say there is an issue with the mapping/fueling somewhere. Does it still have the stock exhaust? Returning it to stock with stock settings would be a good test, and free. If you don't want to go that route I'd reach out to the Gabro guy and give him your symptoms as well. No reason a bike this new should be having fueling issues or down a cylinder. Probably a small chance, but the ECU could've taken a hard shake/impact and messed with something. You never know. A spare stock test ECU would be nice to have on hand to plug in and see how it runs. Let us know! Good luck dude!
You could’ve bought a set of wheel bearings yourself for about $20 and put them in in about 30 minutes.
Reliability > Performance Thank you for saving so many of us lots of money and frustration by helping us avoid this bike.
you're taking the word of a guy that says he is not a mechanic then pulls his engine apart?
installed stabilizer wrong
I used to ride a Honda XR600R back in the 90's. It only had a kick starter with a manual deconpression release. When cold, I'd stand on a milk creat to kick start it, when we were out riding, for rest stops we'd park on top of hills for I could roll her down the hill and click her up into 2nd. gear and pop the cluch to start her in 2nd gear. My current dirt bike is a 2008 KLR that I bought new in Oct 2007 has a 6 GALLON GAS tank, with a 300 mile range. I'm 71 and keep up with my 35 year old friend riding a DR650 (with it's dumb ass small 2.5 gallon tank). I've owned my KLR650 for 17 years and it has never NOT started, has broken down on me. I just rode it yesterday.
Check the TPS Throttle Position Sensor
Only Japanese...
Seeing way too many issues with these bikes, bummer.
Like what? If you don't mind me asking. Honestly curious.
Sounds like you hydro locked it with oil. Oil will be from it running on its side.
This sucks. I just sold my 2020 R1250GSA. Never had a single issue in 16K miles and I rode mostly hard off road. Thank you though as this is now the third review of aprilia Tuareg reliability issues I’ve seen and it’s now off my list. I’m leaning hard towards the Norden 901 Expedition.
Or go back to a GS/GSA.
You miss out, in general the Tuareg 660 has been very reliable with no fundamental design flaws. He just got a lemon, many others - including mine - have been flawless.
@@Hibbicon And many reported to have issues. Not in the market for one, cool bikes, but not interested personally. Just here to hear more first handed documented failures just like the 790/890 and cam lobes.
just type "norden 901 issues" on youtube.
Reliability? Norden? Not my first pick if reliability is your concern. Stick with BMW or Japanese.
I think I would do a compression check and also put a cheap USB endoscope down the spark plug hole to see if your piston/rings/cylinder wall are damaged in the dead cylinder.
Is it really responsible of you to conclude that the Tuareg is unreliable given that your first problem was 100% the battery which has zero to do with Aprilia and you have not even given the dealer a chance to diagnosis your second problem so you have zero idea what caused it. If there has been some major engine failure it is probably under warranty why would you not take it to the dealer? Or did you already take it there and you just are'nt willing say what they told you?
