The disconnect most likely comes from reading the tier list as a power rating. It's *not* that type of tier list. This list is based on the ability to climb with the character. I'm taking into account the ability for the characters to be impactful and allow players to consistently win matches and climb. Both Wanda and Starlord are in the same category because you're not climbing if you don't main them. Yes, certain aspects of their kit may do different things for their teams, however, overall if you played them a few games in a row you most likely will end up losing them due to lack of understanding the character. To directly approach the Starlord statement. Imo, his ult isn't that strong. On paper it may seem like it, but playing with players who understand how it works and what to do, it'll be countered, evaded, or he'll be shot out of the sky. Ultimates do not make or break characters/matches, especially if they are used incorrectly. As far as good players for characters, I have no clue. What you could do is go to the leaderboard and click players profiles and look at their history to find a Wanda in their recent matches *or* you could look at each profile until you come across a Wanda player. The former I think is easier. I hope that helps with the understanding of the list as well as how to find better players to watch. Honestly, for this game I don't think you need to find the "main", just a character similar. 🙏

@@poppinoftenwithlofton6036 Thank you for the reply, I have one more question though. As someone not at a top level yet, generally I consider a good ult for a dps any that demand an immediate response. Mr. Fantastic despite being a strong hero everyone would agree has a weak ult obviously as unless you're in a building or your team is retreating after already losing a fight you can easily reposition to handle it, while Hela would have a very strong one since as long as she's not whipping it out randomly it pressures such a large area. I heard another youtuber refer to these as checkmate ultimates since if the enemy team doesn't handle it, they lose the fight. Under these ideas, I'd put starlords ult in the good category but if you think it's stronger on paper than in practice, could you consider making some sort of video breaking down how impactful different characters ults are? I realize how situational a lot of them can be and it's hard to directly value them, but it would be interesting hearing a high level player's thoughts on this.

@HildaTwice When I think of ults, I mainly think of them in three ways. 1. Wipe potential 2. Anti wipe potential 3. Everything else. If a character has the first two as a solo player they are "good" ultimates imo. Regarding Mr Fantastic, I think his ult is fine, just needs to be used properly like...let's just say Wanda. People assume things are weak if they have counter play or if they need to be used strategically. This is a misconception imo. Same thing was said about squirrel girl and I didn't agree. However, good devs always tried to find a middle ground so they changed her ult for the community since everyone seemed to feel that way. I don't think Mr. Fantastic will get it changed, especially because he is new and people are learning still. Some character abilities require finesse and some characters don't. However, this is present in all hero based games, not just this one. That's not a great indicator to justify what is "good/bad" or "strong/weak". (again, my opinion) It's clear developers want to have players have a way to stop or avoid every ultimate and if it's too op there are limits to keep them in check (ie. Mr Fantastic). In regards of how impactful an ultimate is, it's really just based on how the player chooses to use it. There is no click button and it's impactful type of ultimate, you know? Even something like cloak and dagger can't just click and it's impactful. If used incorrectly or at the incorrect time it's not good at all It's possible you may be overthinking things. I used to as well a loooong time ago when I was into other hero/MOBA games. I remember one of my top rank friends, like too 10 in the world top rank told me that in one of the games he was helping me in. I came to the realization that if *he* a top rank player says that, then I must be. (he told me this as I was top 2% in the game, so even in high ranks I was overthinking) My advice, focus on the impact you have as a player. That'll go a lot longer of a way than what any character you select will do for you. 💪

Exactly! You're one of the first people who noticed (or at least commented) about it *not* being a typical S tier list. I wasn't going for who is strong or weak, just which helps you climb easier. Good insight.💪

@ hey there are times when I’m in deep I get a pick and I continue to push but no one behind me despite whole team being alive. I often have to ask where is my team?? I assume that’s just an awareness issue on my part?

Sometimes they are busy doing something. A quick realization for me is watching the replay and looking at what they are doing when I go in. Often times (not all the time) my team wasn't close enough, wasn't ready, maybe not aware. I'd check and see.

Same concept applies. The bright side is, staying alive means there are multiple players focused on you and not the teamfight. This means you could most likely win the game as long as you stay alive.

LMAO! Yea, even happens in high ranks. People have PTSD from some characters. However, the higher you go, the less time is spent looking around aiming at the character. Usually, I just spam ping and pray they listen. Otherwise...it's an L LMAO! 🤣 I feel the pain.

@ yeah it’s tragic lol, I feel like everyone’s just kinda like a sheep in the lower ranks, they see someone do something and they all follow blindly what they’re doing, they kinda tunnel vision and don’t look around them (I for sure do the same thing sometimes, but it’s a major issue)

For sure, I'm the same way. We all make mistakes, the only difference between low rank and high rank is the amount that is made in each game. 😉

LMAO! No worries, once you get diamond + there are two bans per team. Some games I do ban him, especially if I know a main is on the other team. I 100% feel your pain. 😂

I'm glad it helped out. It is definitely a different way of thinking for characters that don't have major escapes for sure. When the person made a comment about it, I thought this could help them.

I think learning a character at the start is best. If you have a *reason* to play other tanks it's definitely beneficial. If you don't and just flick through then, them it doesn't really help you. Let's say you play strange on attack because you feel you're better at pushing with him and Peni on defense because you're better at holding your ground with her. With that mindset you're actively working on skills and those skills will indeed transfer to other characters. If you're just flicking through and playing characters for the sake of it, skills won't transfer and you're not really learning much at the end of the day.

@@poppinoftenwithlofton6036 is there a point where it becomes more worthwhile to learn more characters? If so, what’s the best sway to go about learning them? Do you just grind quickplay with them for a while or risk throwing comp games by playing someone you aren’t comfortable with yet?

Nah, in my opinion I just end up learning characters when I feel it's a good time for me. You can easily one trick your way up the ladder (or two trick if you prefer). Anyone who says you need to have a character for each different situation or map may just be overthinking things or wanting to make the game seem more complicated than it is? When you hit top tier games, some characters struggle and have to put in bonus work to win but it's not like you can't play them and win with them.

It's awesome to know you're enjoying the content. I try my best to see the point of view of others and a lot of what is dropped has some sort of influence from the comments hah. That's an interesting idea and I'm not really sure how I'd go about incorporating that to make sense to everyone (not just yourself, you clearly understand what you want). I'll jot the idea down in my notes and think about what could be done that'd make sense. It may not come in a sort of..."each stage approach" or something like that but it could come in another fashion that's a bit more digestible for the average viewer. I appreciate the kind words and the thoughtful ideas you're sharing, it means a lot. 🙂

I experienced a game today where it became incredibly clear we'd begun to "funnel" - dying over and over. Once I registered this, I approached from a different angle (but made sure to time it with my team as you've taught), broke their focus and formation leading us to gain traction pushing point again. I think you could make an incredibly clickbait-y sounding video like: "Stop throwing games" or "this one thing is keeping you in Silver/Gold" or whatever - where you go over the most common choke points that cause funnelling on maps, showing how both to realise its happening and address the issue. Or likely better "top 5 mistakes keeping you hardstuck" where you address things like clearing the enemy team off convoy but then not moving up to capitalise on staggered deaths and make them earn ground back to point. I dunno, a really condensed and clickbait-y video looking at most common game losing mistakes might just get your content viral enough that I can stop facepalm-ing over my teams!!

You're not wrong, but I tend to not do clickbaity content. Although it is far easier to grow in the short term, I want to stay true to myself and be as transparent as possible. It's also cool you spotted what was going wrong within the game and were able to adjust. That's the level of thinking high ranking and pro players use. 👀

I wouldn't say there is a right or wrong way to play him, I just mean he is so flexible and can do so many different things you may feel as though you're making progress with him. Then once you hit a certain rank you feel *hard* stuck. From there, you'll most likely have to back track and learn how to play tank properly and then go back to him. Basically, without the knowledge of how to play the role in general, he gives you way too much freedom. If you understand a lot of the dos and don'ts as a tank in general, you'll know what you should be doing and how it can better benefit your team. A lot of dive tank players in general miss that step and eventually get to a point where they feel their team is lacking due to them not capitalizing on w.e they did when diving. This creates really selfish dive tank players who will eventually get stuck when they reach a rank that is more coordinated. So I felt if the player learns the other characters first that'll help them understand what they should do and why, they'd have much more success down the road later. I hope that makes sense? 😅
