Sandy Denny. Taken from us much too soon like many others. Her work with Fairport is sublime. Listen, listen from her solo album ranks as one of the most amazing songs ever. Eva Cassidy is another one I think of that can pull you into her soul and bring you to tears. Check out her version of somewhere over the rainbow.
Why does sandy singing make me cry. I have been listening to here singing for 50 years now. In life she was no angel but she sung like one. I have missed you sandy all these years no one will come close to yout talents you died too young see you in heaven
I only just discovered this beautiful. Wonderful singer today and I am76. What a shame for me. But so happy that at my end I am so lucky to have been shown this magical person. The whole world would benefit from her now.
The music of Sandy Denny and Fairport Convention have been part of my life for as long as I can remember. You have probably already found the well-known Fairport Convention version of 'Who Knows Where the Time Goes', which was composed by Sandy Denny. However you may not have heard this (BBC recorded) version - just Sandy Denny, accompanying herself on a 12-string guitar: ua-cam.com/video/jsqztvHIB9Y/v-deo.html
I just learned of this vocalist, she sang side by side with plant in thee battle of evermore, always wandered who that was, some of her music she hits that same register and tone, then it hits you exactly what parts she sang... what a voice but such a sad ending to her life and career, she needed to be around people that understood her troubles and conditions .. RIP Sandy... I know your lead in the big choir upstairs, bring it on...
Sandy is the best female singer (I would probably also put Karen Matheson up there too) that I've heard in my lifetime. You don't train to sing like that it comes from the soul. Sometimes the plaintive ache in her voice almost hurts when I listen to her songs.
I saw Sandy Denny twice with Fairport- 69 and 75 (with Dave Mattacks rather than Bruce Rowlands on drums) - and once with Fotheringay, when they played The Sea in a torrential downpour. Such a wonderful voice.
@@Iampalindrome People say that about my voice as well. Having "an amazing voice" doesn't necessarily get you places. Money and a bit of luck do. Thanks and take care.
The only other voice that is as compelling as Denny , was Eva Cassidy, who also died far too young . ❤

She sang on the Led Zeppelin song “the battle of evermore”

Simply perfect - thank you so much for sharing this.

Sad, damaged woman.

She's a fine singer all right .... better than Judith Durham though? I'm not sure.

Way to short what beautiful music ❤
There isn't a lot of video of Sandy singing, sadly.
That voice ❤
Beautiful talent taken way too soon ❤

I had to Upvote every Comment. Angelic voice, now where it belongs... And Richard Thompson, too.
Such a gift from God giving us Sandy's voice.
And I had to study for some class the night Fairport played in D.C.......luckily tapes exist.

Saw Fairport at brangwin hall Swansea sandy had sore throat she did not sing much not long after she was gone
Geht nicht! Jedes Wort ist überflüssig.
A very sad decline into mental illness and depression. Died aged only 31.
Devastating in its beauty
Wow!!!
In just 50 seconds, Sandy drills right to your heart.
One of the most beautiful voices ever. ♥ 🏴

She was the perfect choice for Led Zeppelin's Battle of Evermore.
Listened to a lot of versions, never bettered

Words cannot describe how beautiful Sandy Denny's voice is.😇✌
It is a shame that her life was cut short. She had a beautiful, resonant voice. Every word she sang was honest and true.
She had an amazing voice.
