Making A Kitchen Knife
Переглядів 3,1 тис.6 місяців тому
Hi! In this video I make a kitchen knife from 80CrV2 carbon steel. Handle is made out of birch bark and I used brass rivets. I wanted to make a forged pattern on the sides of the blade to give it a bit of character. This was first kitchen knife I have ever made from scratch. Music in this video is my own production: soundcloud.com/n0tle/vatsari?

Hi! My channel reached 1000 subs recently. Thanks for that! In this video I make the double leuku. It consists of leuku and puukko knives and one sheath. The blades I'm using are forged by Finnish bladesmith Jaaranen. The leuku blade length is 180mm and the puukko blade 90mm. Both blades are carbonsteel. The handles of both knives are made out of spalted birch, birch bark, moose/reindeer antler...
Making A Puukko
Переглядів 165 тис.Рік тому
Hi! In this video I make a puukko knife and a sheath from a scratch. I am a quite novice at blade making. The blade is 80CrV2 carbon steel. Before quenching I normalized the steel with three cycles at the gas forge. I used heated canola oil for the quench. After quench I tempered the blade at 200 celsius for 2 hours. That heat treatment should give hardness of about 60 HRC. The handle is made o...

Knife Restoration
Переглядів 13 тис.2 роки тому
Hi everyone and happy new year! In this video I restorate a old finnish 'puukko' knife. The blade´s patina looked very nice so I did only some fix to it and polishing to the sharp end and did some cleaning to other parts. New handle is made out of reindeer antler, birch bark and curly birch. Next project is to make sheath for this knife. Music in this video is my own production and it will be r...

Nice looking knife, but it deserved a better heat treatment, in a temperature controlled kiln. The handle, although nice in color, texture and general shape, it looks too bulky and unfinished with those sharp edges, it will hurt the hand if used for prolonged periods, been there, done that. I mean it as a constructive critique, not bashing your work. Cheers!
great work! Was the steel already heat treated?
Thanks! No it wasn't
Thank you
Great work as always 👍👍
It's a very beautiful 🔪 knife, you're like a master of the Pros!!! I like the way you make Puukko better, of course. 👍✊️🤝
hey just curious what thread you use in that sheath
Hi! Waxed polyester thread
Nie nawiercasz większych otworów w stalowej rękojeści żeby była lżejsza,a ostrze cięższe? Nóż jest lepiej wyważony i łatwiej się nim pracuje.🤔
👍 need to get bigger cobalt drill bit and try that sometime :)
Arcydzieło sztuki rzemieślniczej👍 Jak skóra została przytwierdzona do drewnianej pochwy? Sklejona, czy podczas schnięcia mocno się zacisnęła?
Thanks! I used glue in the joint
@@kiehicraftTen klej trzyma jeżeli wcześniej olejowałeś drewno?
I made light sanding to wood to the joint before gluing and then moisturized it because i used polyurethan glue. The joint would be indeed more secure if the oil wasnt used..
That is not a leuku
skórę moczył pan w wodzie? zimnej, cieplej?
Yes, cold water
dokladnie takiego filmu szukalem !
With many innovations but exceedingly beautiful knife and sheath construction.
Очень Хороший 🔪👍👍👍👍👍👍✊️✊️✊️✊️✊️
The knife is beautiful!! But the Scandi had to be lowered. The Finnish knife is the Scandi descents, I think. You make really good knives!!! Keep doing it, or you rarely get new knives. 😅
👍👍👍👍👍👍✊️✊️✊️
Nice work. How long is the blade?
Isn't the smell just horrendous, when you're sanding and working on the bone? Anyway, very cool outcome!
BEAUTIFUL
Thx!
Did you glue the leather on the wood for the sheath? If yes, what kind of glue? Otherwise, how is it holding together?
Actually I put a little bit of glue between the leather and the wood. Glue is not necessary in the case where deep grooves are made in the wooden part, where the wet leather is pressed and sewed tightly. When the leather dries it tightens tightly around the wood and into the groove. But one way or another, the glue makes the joint more secure :)
hi, could you tell me what liquid you used to soak the raw handle?? anyway very nice!!!!!
Hi thanks! It is called finishing oil which consists of different oils, like tung oil
Hi thanks@@kiehicraft
Amazing!
Thx!
Quelle bombe !
WOW….nice craftsmanship…bravo…👍🏼
Technically speaking only one of those is a leuku but they both look good
When doing the flap, you should have punched a hole in the corners, before cutting. By cutting a sharp corner, you've introduced a weakness, which will probably result in it splitting over time. Still, you're a beginner, so you'll learn yet.
Beatiful
Thanks!
Faszinierend!!!!! 👍
Thanks!
Нож шикарный. Ножны сделаны топорно, мастеру не хватило терпения.
Качество слесарной обработки клинков плохое, видно на отблеск что много заполированых ям, а так работа по ножам отличная😊
Great work, brother 👏 👍 💪. Lee
Thanks!
Magnifique 👍👍👍
Cheers!
💪👍👍👍🤝
👍
An outstanding blade and you made a beautiful knife with it. It's something to be proud of and use.
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful build. I have only made one sheath with a wooden blade insert very early on in my leather journey. All my other sheaths have been taco style with a welt. I will have to make another one. Thanks 🎸🔪
Minkä mittainen tuo puukon vyölenkin nahka pitää olla? 40cm?
Joo varmaan siinä 40-50cm luokkaa. Saa olla pituutta jos pyörittää kierteelle
Very nice. It's simple, but very elegant.
Impressive 👍
BRAVO👏 👏 👏
Wowwwwww 😲👏🏻🔪
Awesome! What is the item called you are using at 2:10?
Thanks! It is a compass
Wonderful job, compliments! I have an old pukko with the same manufacturer logo: can you please identify his name?
Hello, what is the brand of the drill press that you use?
You did amazing work on this project ❤❤
Thanks!
😊😊😊
Nice work.👍
Hi 👋 there?!! Hmm, it's a gorgeous 😍 knife 🔪 nice work 👍 👌
