Motorcycle filled day. Started off accompanying a friend to take delivery of her Ducati Monster 30th Anniversario. Then met up with another 30th Anniversario and watched a stunt show at Wild West Motoplex in Katy. Capped the day with a ride to Royers Pie Haven in Round Top for pie and coffee.

Saturday, November 25, 2023 2023 Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello S Waller, Texas It was a gloomy day today so I found me some curves, curves, and more curves. Rode around the Rose Hill and Fields Store areas at a relaxed pace. The bike is running great. I just passed 11,000 miles. I had a issue with the SHAD Moto Guzzi top case falling off twice on a ride through the Sam Houston National Forest. I scr...

Saturday, July 29, 2023. Houston, Texas Went out for a short ride followed by sushi for lunch. Chased (not really hunted 🙃) a V2 Bayliss Special Edition, two V4s, and a R1 around the west Houston back roads. Met up with the Noobie group at Racers Road. The V100 is at 7,300 miles now. I'll be having the 7,500 mile service done at AF1 this Friday. Great day to be out.

Enjoyed some crepes at Sweet Paris in College Station. I'm at 4,300 miles...
V100 Mandello S - Mistral to Agostini Exhaust - Houston, Texas (1080p)

I received a delivery from AF1 today. Had ordered a Agostini exhaust a month ago to compare to the Mistral. Installed it and went out for a ride. As usual, it got dark on me. I had the camera pointed in the wrong direction for the footage with the baffle still in. I kept it so as to not waste more time. I went home, adjusted the camera, removed the baffle, and filmed without the baffle; in the ...

    I got a Mistral slip-on muffler, had to remove the dB killer. Took the complete OEM system off, I should be getting my Ago headers and y-pipe in a couple of days, and will use the Mistral on the end. I've had the bike a week, haven't even started it or even ridden it yet. But from past experiences, I'm sure it'll be worth the wait when that first ride has the full Ago exhaust and open Mistral muffler (and dual Hella disc horns)!

  • @bronzestarvue
    @bronzestarvue 4 місяці тому

    So the only change in this video is the Mistral slip-on with no dB killer? How are the pops when you roll off the throttle? There's another person who did a slip-on on their V100 (not a Mistral though), and popped a lot when rolling off the throttle. I would think with the Ago headers + y-pipe + tune those pops should be gone? I put a deposit down on a '24 V100 Aviazione Navale, and ordered the Mistral slip-on from AF1 already. I'm hoping it'll sound like yours, but not too bad with pops when rolling off the throttle?

    • @BenManrriquez
      @BenManrriquez 4 місяці тому

      @bronzestarvue, yes, in that video, the Mistral slip on was the only change. The pops were still there. The baffle was still in. I meant to take the baffle out and do another video but never got around to do it. I got the Agostini Ice Grey exhaust. Liked the look much better. Sound was almost the same as stock and the Mistral. I haven't attempted to remove the baffle on the Agostini. I'm at 16,000 miles now 19 months since taking delivery. But I also put around 25k miles per year on my truck and another 10k to 15k per year on my other bikes. Congrats on ordering the 2024 Aviazione. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.

    Ok... we talked enough about the sound of these 2 exhausts. But how does the bike actually perform with each one of them on? Do you see any difference in hp, torque or even throttle response? Even more, if there is any difference in weight loss and how does the balance of the bike feel compared to the stock exhaust.

      @kaveiros75, I felt no performance gains. No difference in HP, torque, or throttle response. Only adds a bit more noise. The weight loss is not significant as the stock exhaust is already very light. I felt no change to balance. The bike feels the same with slightly more noise. Which I'm ok with for now until someone comes up with a cat delete option.

    One thing for me is that it's fiddly to fuel. If i put down the fueling nozzle in the hole it keeps turning off, seems like air isn't getting out while fueling so i have to keep the fueling nozzle above the hole.

    • @BenManrriquez
      @BenManrriquez Рік тому

      @Karl-dn9el, I have found that by tilting the nozzle rearward and inserting it all the way, it stays on and I get no splash as compared to inserting it forward or straight down. In this position, I can even pull the trigger at the highest flow rate with no splash. I've actually had other motorcycles that are way more finicky than this and no matter what angle I point the nozzle in, it splashes or turns off. Could just be your local gas station nozzles. Where are you located? They do vary for us from gas station to gas station in Texas. But I've mostly had good success with the rearward tilting. Hope it begins to work better for you.

      Also, for the gold wheels, my retailer told me it was 100% doable to swap with white or red gold wheels the S black model. As people who buy red or white non S want black wheels, and people buying green S model want gold wheels xD That said the black/grey S really nail the black rims. ;)

      @thomasbouvier3203: I test rode a 2020 MV TV when I got my 2019 Brutale RC. I liked it. But, the triple engine took some time to get up to speed. You really have to rev the engine to get the power out of it. The V100 has power everywhere. I can take off in 2nd through 4th gears and keep that gear to a high speed. I've never ridden a monster. The latest Monster SP looks nice though. I've ridden 2 RS 660's and a Ducati V2. Both are similar. Being smaller displacement, you have to ring their necks to get the power.

Gas mileage is settling in to mid 40’s, so 200 mis per tank is decent. Looking forward to your current impression review. Cheers!

      @sfzx54, sorry. Just now saw this. Full update coming. Been distracted lately. I'm at 5,400 miles as of today, Sunday, June 25. Thought I had a oil leak. But it was just loose nuts. Tightened them up and it's fine now. I did lose a screw from the silver header cover. Replaced it with M6 bolt from Ace Hardware. Drove to AF1 yesterday to pick up my gold wheels that finally arrived. As others have complained, the Angel GT II tires cause wobble on these new longitudinally grooved paved roads. For me it's most noticeable starting at 70 mph on up. I don't ride much on highway so not an issue for me. The MIA is hard to pair with phones. I got a nail in my rear tire so ordered new ones. Gonna try the Angel GT. Those don't have the groove down the middle. Yes, i definitely would get it again. Do it. As soon as you can. Join us. 😀 I'm going to see about coordinating a V100 meet up in Central Texas in the Fall. North or West of Austin. Hill country where it runs well.

      @alp3781, I'd say go for it. We have a Moto Guzzi dealer in Houston. They actually have 2 locations in Houston and are expanding to Dallas. But, I've had bad experiences with all 3 of their make lines (which I have all 3 of); Aprilia, MV Agusta, and Moto Guzzi. They have a reputation for dealing a certain way and lacking customer service. So.... I drive almost 3 hours away to AF1 in Austin for service. There is a former Houston dealer, MPH, that is well sought after for his Moto Guzzi expertise and his shop is only a few miles away from me in West Houston. But, he has a work order queue that's too long for me to wait on. As long as I set an appointment with them, AF1 has gotten me in and out within hours.

      @Eli The Great, in general, I agree with that. But my 2017 Aprilia Tuono Factory has been flawless at 34,500 miles now. Maybe I'm just lucky. On the other hand, I had 2 Ducatis a few years ago that both had severe fatal electrical issues. Maybe I was just unlucky in that case. But 2 of them! My 2019 MV Agusta Brutale RC has been great at 10,500 miles now. No issues with 2 other Moto Guzzis. But, yes, a risk, nonetheless with this first year totally new V100.

    I have a V100 S now for about 500 miles. The bike is amazing, one or two complaints J would have that in Sport Mode the suspension is harsh, like excessively harsh. I understand it is customizable to get some of the hardness out. One other complaint would be the none existent fenders. I rode home from the dealer in the rain after picking up the new bike and the bike looked like it was a year old already. The front fender has almost no rear plastics past the forks which flings mud and gravel into the radiator. I definitely need a radiator guard (which I don’t want) or a fender extender. The rear fender ends at the 12 o’clock position or the rear wheel so the road grime fling is insane as well. And to agree, gold wheels should have come stock on the S and not the standard and the heated grips are sub-par at best. One other thing, I’m hoping the neutral to first gear clunk will soften after break in (but I doubt it)

      can't agree more about the front fender its poor , Ive fitted a pyramid extender at £ 70.oo works well but why on a GT tourer don't MG fit as standard this bike is made to be used not just looked at. I love mine

    Love the bike and would love it be my next bike. The biggest drawback imo is the small dealer network. The nearest dealer is over an hour from me so any servicing or warranty issues ( it is Italian) would be a major pain.

    • @BenManrriquez
      @BenManrriquez Рік тому

      @Mozeby, yea, good point. That's what's keeping many from buying... the lack of local dealer support. We have an authorized Houston area dealer but my service experience with them on a Aprilia Tuono 3 years ago was not good. Others I've spoken to about their experience with this place have similar opinions. So, I bought it from AF1 in Austin 2 1/2 hours away from my home. I took it back to them for the 900 mile service. I expect to keep taking it to them for each upcoming service. My Tuono has not had any issues. I'm at 34,500 miles on it now. I'm at 2,850 miles on the V100. I have a 2016 Moto Guzzi V7 II Racer and a just acquired a 2020 V7 III Racer 10th Anniversary last weekend. No issues with them so far. But I am lucky that I have within 10 miles from me an Aprilia / MV Agusta / Ducati / BMW certified technician and a Moto Guzzi master technician. I've owned 2 Ducatis and both had severe electrical problems. Luck of the draw, I guess!

      @@BenManrriquez how’s the size? I’m 6’1 and about 220. My Triumph Trident is a great bike but maybe a little small and little to no wind protection so that’s why I’m looking at a sport touring like this or Tracer 9. I ride to work on the hwy doing 70’ish so comfort is a big deal. First bike so live and learn.

      @@mozeby1975 at 6'1 you should be fine. It depends on where on the seat you prefer to sit. I'd imagine that some over 6 feet tall will touch the cylinder heads with their knees if they sit up close to the tank. As far as speed, I have found that this bike feels most at home in the 80 to 100 mph range. It will easily do 70 with no wind buffeting.

    Good review. I've been waiting for this bike to arrive in Australia ( now June I believe ) I also preferred the gold wheels on the pre-production version of 2 years ago when it first surfaced at EICMA show. One thing that no reviews mention is, that as a tourer, it doesn't have a centre stand! I think that's a bad oversight, and not sure if one is available as an option? I believe they will retail, ride away price of $30,000+ Australian Dollars which is well up there. I am 6'2" with long legs, and I read some comments here that maybe my knees will touch the cylinders?

      @gp92510, oh, heck. I re-read the Ice Grey exhaust description and you're right, it says with DB killer. Dammit. I somehow missed that. I'll figure out how to remove the DB killer, remove the Agostini and put this Mistral back on to see if I like it even better. I was liking the Agostini because of the shorter length. Don't like that the Mistral hides some of the wheel. www.af1racing.com/mistral-stainless-steel-ice-grey-slip-on-mgh-v100-sa
