I think it's more about not being complacent. Even if you show up every single day, if you go through the motions you'll end up at the same place every day. You have to push yourself to beat the last record every time you go to the gym, either by more weight or one more rep or one more set
don't forget to say about giving every muscle a rest for at least a day after a workout

what kind of workout can we do in half an hour?
push ups, pull ups, jumping rope, squats, some burpees, HIIT (don't recomment if you're skinny), and there's many more, for pullups and jumping rope you only need a bar and a rope for others just a floor.
Does working out immediately after waking affect your strength?
possibly but it could also wake your body up cuz of adrenaline and higher hr etc ig. Or you can just hit a 5 min cold shower
