It is completely possible that you made the cut mark when cutting the old link. Unlikely it was a previous upgrade for handling or camber adjustment etc without other complimentary components, which would likely have been noticed. For cleaner cuts & more control use higher tpi blades

Hey Tim, Thank you for the video.. I have an issue with my BMW that I believe comes from this module. My driver's seat isn't working at all. I first thought it was the buttons on the side of the seat but I tested them and its not that. The weird thing is the memory seat buttons works on the side of the door. I push one of the memory buttons and the seat moves but, nothing can be controlled by the switches on the side of the seat. Do you think my problem could be coming seat module? I don't have any fuses blown and I believe this is the only thing that controls the seat. I have BMW G30. Let me know what you think? Thanks Tim

Oh the reason I wrote this post in the first place was to tell you that I was able to plug my HFP wing 3rd light right into the factory plug that the stock. It can be done the wire is inside the hatch

I bought a 2005 Ep3 with a blown engine Im pretty sure it has the HFP Package on it. Because it has the Type R wing has Carbon Viber on the vents amd shifter column. It did not come with them but you can see its set up to have them the Side skirt ground effects. The one thing I have never seen in any other Si Ep3 from the states and that is Leather heated seats with the Si bage stitched into the seats. But im not a 100% Sure its an HFP Package because it came with 17" aftermarket wheels. Also has no HFP bages on the reare hatch or inside on the center council so im kinda at a loss. How else would it have the wing and Carbin trim and the leather heated seats?

Along with the “reprogramming” issue already mentioned in lots of other comments, the “leaving people with permanently locked furniture” statement is also false. The lock auto-unlocks when the batteries are too low specifically to prevent that kind of lockout.

Well produced video from a small creator with good production quality and decent information - except that the core issue regarding the smart lock is entirely wrong and you just reprogrammed the custom key for it every time :p Me and a friend did some research on this unit when it was new a while back. Never got to the point of dumping the firmware, but it seemed to be fairly resistant (more resistant than some industrial access control systems...), especially considering the price and usecase (keeping a piece of ikea-cardboard/furniture locked.)

During the entire video I couldn't stop thinking about the fact that if the battery dies, this thing locks itself inside a cabinet. What's the recourse? Does it at least warn you that it's running low on battery?

It can have one NFC card in addition to the two master keys. I don’t feel that’s a problem. You need to reprogram it to accept a new card, you can’t just add 10 of your own NFC card.
