    Great info! Thank you! I was wondering if we should try one of the other adult only resorts. We’ll stick with Royal Hideaway. This will be our, maybe, 5th time there. We love it although it could use some updating and as you said, better food. The food is okay but only some of it is truly delicious.

    We have been at many relatively big towns in Mexico that are very primitive. There's no decent restaurant in the entire town. The popular Pizza place just heated up frozen pizzas for their customers. Mexico is an experience, but those "pretend" restaurants I'd rather just stay away from. One town had the best coffee shop in town across the street, BUT they opened at 12 noon, so thankfully I had a bean grinder and brewed my own coffee from beans I 'd bought in Zehautanejo - it was amazingly outstanding coffee, so very please I bought those beans.

      We have had some really great restaurant experiences in Mexico. I will say that finding decent Asian food, hamburgers, and pizza are all difficult. Excellent seafood is easy to find. We travel with a french press and make our own at home. I agree that Mexico grows some excellent beans especially in Chiapas.

    Our house is huge so I'm doing a lot of maintenance and improvements; however, it's on track to be sold soon, so we intend to relo to P.V. once we are free from our work here. We have a smaller home nearby, but would live in P.V. This week I took one of our SUVs to Nogales Sonora for body work and, then, we will likely paint the vehicle with Urethane - some snowbird in Az. passed out and destroyed our front grill and, after 6 mos., we have the settlement to repair the car. Ha, ha - next door from the body shop the Mex. military were raiding a drug house, so I was waving at the military as they ran it with weapons drawn. I thought they could paint it, but they don't have urethane, so I told them I'll paint it in Phx. if they cannot - strangely, the price is similar either place so no benefit for painting in Mexico.

      We have found that prices for restaurants, real estate, and most services are lower in Mexico than in the US. Things like technology, hygiene, clothing, and home goods tend to be the same price or sometimes even higher than back home.

    • @dennishassler605
      @dennishassler605 12 днів тому

      @@GeorgiaandDavid Yes, luxury costs MORE so wealthy people actually live better in the USA where they are catered to. I get mechanics working for maybe $25/hr. in Mex. but here in PHx. maybe more like $135/hr. I'm having a front end rebuilt as body work, but they wanted $1,000 for a paint job and I can get a Urethine pant job here in Phx. for $1300, but in Mex. it was basic paint - so I told them NO - I'll do that in the USA. The culture in Mex. is much more honest than business in the USA in my opinion.

    I love travel with the dog!!!! In Mexico, I was surprised by a small boney black dog crawling out from under a car to greet me obviously distressed, so I went back inside to return with a can of tuna to feed the dog. Returning six hrs. later at 11PM the dog was curled up sleeping in my doorway. I took her in, cleaned her up and took her. to the vet. The dog would be ideal for a young child I thought, but she became so attached to me that I couldn't leave her for a second - huge abandonment syndrome. She's been with me ever since and has been AMAZING as a pet and as a friend - I believe she was a gift from God.

    The infrastructure in Huatulco is more challenging, but meat in Mexico is all grass fed beef and not as tender as finished beef in the USA - still, there are places you can find good beef. I spend more time in PV which is easier given the strong expat pressence there.

      "Pueblo Magico" or magic town, is a title given by the secretary of tourism to small towns throughout Mexico. Tequila is one of those towns. Sometimes the award is given for the town's natural beauty, history, a specific art or craft, a unique dish, or in the case of tequila its speciality drink. Currently there are 177 of these magic towns and our current goal is to visit 100 pueblos magicos.

      I can see why it was absolutely massive but ended up being our favorite due to its size and the fact that there were so few people there. If you go back I definitely recommend the crater lakes as well. We stayed in Cuetzalan...that video will be out in two weeks.

    Thank you sooo much for your video. I so appreciate the intel you provide us!! For others, I am going to SLP in 4 days. My BEAUTIFUL AirBnB downtown will be $53 USD per night. I currently am living in Guanajuato where Street “Tacos” and the like are $1.50 USD and my Steak Dinner at a beautiful downtown Restaurant “Truco 7” was $225.00 MXP or $12.16 USD. Food prices in comparison seem really high in SLP??!! I will know soon enough. Thanks again for taking the time to make a video for us!!

      The lower cost options are about the same but the fancy places were definitely pricier. Also when we show our totals we are usually including two cocktails, two sparkling waters, two entrees, and tip. Enjoy your trip it's a great city! Thank you for your comment, glad you enjoyed the video!

    Georgia and Dave..... is nice to see you are having a good time in Mexico. And it's great to see you finally in my hometown. As you have discovered, there are many things to see and to do in Orizaba. This city has changed a lot since my chilehood (belive me.... A LOT). In the 70's-80's it was not as touristy as it is nowadays. You videos have an excellent level of production. Congratullations for that. This video in particular brought back good memories..... See the house painted green by the Parque López (around minute 7:25)? Many many years ago, it use to host the "Gabriela Mistral Kindergarden", which I attended...... Thank you for sharing your experiences. Hope you have many more good times in Mexico. Have a very happy travel.
