yep, Shadow Tower: Abyss is the best. great level design, unique limb cutting mechanic, wonderful new ideas, interesting areas, and even a decently fleshed out system for guns! really fun to play though i beat the game on 1.2x speed because this game is SO SLOW some times.

The evolution of Metallica is really funny to me. After the black album they tended to chase trends. St. Anger for example was basically a Nu metal album and load/reload aped the stoner/desert rock sound. They openly admitted to being fans of Fu Manchu and also touring with Kyuss before they broke up!

Tomorrow Never Dies is quality and feels shockingly relevant to today.

Gunz online. It's my favorite but it's a trash game, the fan base is still going strong thought which is amazing. Edit: I forgot to mention I never had a computer good enough to run it above 20fps and my computer would crash frequently, so I would go play pirated servers for Ragnarok online instead lmao

22:09 they exist! I'm watching this video mainly because I'm interested in checking out the King's Field / Shadow Tower games once I'm done with every Souls game. With every new FromSoft game, new players are introduced to the Souls franchise. And some (very few, of course) of those players eventually work their way backwards to older FromSoft games.

Felvidek is so surprisingly good and i love the creativity of the indie scene these days.

I bought Felvidek and started playing. Died in 5 minutes after letting a corrupt guard lead me to a barn where he and his evil comrades promptly murdered me. 10/10 do recommend.

Trying to explain why I like KF3 more than KF4 is like trying to explain why I like Ultima V more than Ultima VI. It's obviously not as good, but... Look at it. It was the pinnacle of what it was. What came after was... Something else.

the art style reminds me of who's lila but not quite. it's not super dotted like it can be, but it's close. also they have a connection through the "lynchian comparison", though one is directly inspired by lynch, and the other is somewhat. also they're both made by slavic devs, funny coincidences

I would rate all these games the same way except swap 3 and 4 but yeah I love shadow tower abyss the closest game to that is bloodborne I really really wanna make a game like shadow tower but just 3rd person and with improved combat and maybe more movement options

I can't imagine Star Control 2 won't be extremely your shit. It's one of the all-time greats. Arguable if it's an rpg in the modern sense, but I think it resists being easily categorized.

I love all of these games. They are so niche and outside of the normal. They don't appeal the masses. The oppressive and strange atmosphere can never be replicated. I'd love a re-released collection of these on modern console with trophies. They don't even have to remaster them. Leave them janky and ugly. I don't mind.

As far as Kings Field 3, the greys are greier and the grays are graier. Sometimes that is all it takes. I am still worried he never found the map in Shadow Tower.

I'd switch the two games. I'd put “King's Field 3” in third place and “King's Field 4” in second. Otherwise, I agree with all the conclusions.

I grew up with king's field 3 so I am biased towards it over the other kf games

I would love for fromsoft to hire the same people who did dark souls remaster and do a kingsfield quadralogy remaster for modern hardware. Runing at 4k60. I'd buy it instantly.

King's field IV is the best game of all time for me. Nothing above it. I love newer fast paced games but this just feels different. (Dark reality is my favourite soundtrack)
