    Struggling alot at the moment. I'm trying to get back into the dslr world. I was looking at a a7ii but 500+ is quite alot for me preowned. And I mean I wouldn't have money for this month if I got it. And I'm trying to find something that I can get into semi professional without breaking the bank and this has really upped this camera on my list of candidates.

    Hi! Just watched your video and had to subscribe - you take beautiful photos and videos :) I bought a Lumix S5II a couple of months ago to dive back into my hobby photography and currently have my kit lens which is 20-60mm (full frame). I love to take photos in dawn and moody scenes as well as macro (e.g. little mushrooms, leaves in the rain etc) and am considering this lens (or the 60-600mm version) so that I have more flexibility. I have a feeling that I might take more photos when I can zoom in more, as I love to capture the stars, the moon, birds a distance away etc. Do you have any tips for how to focus a camera to take star photos? I tried the method with lighting a torch to focus, then move the camera to capture the stars before the focus is off again but they turn out blurry every time... I did 2 years of photography with a Canon 1100D in high school a few years ago so slowly getting back into it. Any thoughts or tips welcome! Thanks :)

      Thank you so much I really appreciate the kind feedback! :) when I photograph things like birds and planets, I have my lens at 600mm, I use a sturdy tripod that can support the weight of the big heavy lens, and use the magnify setting on my camera to get as close as I can to the subject, then I manually focus from there :)

    Great video. Likewise had the camera a while since 2016, got it for my 18th birthday and my dad got a 750D a few months earlier using some gift voucher he got for being at his job for 25 years or something and then I wanted my own. I've always sort of gravitated to being the photographer / videographer in the family, recording us singing happy birthday each year and things like that so I guess that's where my own photography story starts, don't know about yourself. I've just got a RX100 VII so that I can maybe shoot some concerts from the crowd and build a little portfolio to use either in videos or a blog site and then maybe I'll get noticed to take part in the photo pit etc for shows I would otherwise miss

Just a quick question Becky, in 2024 would you buy a Canon 750D with both the EFS 18-55mm & Canon EF 50mm F1.8 STM Lenses for £290 OR buy the Canon 200D, Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM & Canon EF 50mm F1.8 STM for £400. Hi, just found your video. You got some really nice shots! I've just bought a 750d and thought about getting the sigma 150-600c for wildlife photography. However I feel like the camera struggles a bit with low light conditions. Have you taken wildlife shots in low light with high ISO already? Since a lot of wildlife is active at dusk or dawn I fear I'm gonna miss a lot of good shots

    • @beckybokeh
      @beckybokeh 6 місяців тому

      Thank you!! :) I have not used the lens a great deal in low light conditions, if that is something that is important you then possibly look into a lens with a wider aperture maybe a 2.8. But for the price this lens is very good. The more you spend the more you get and especially with telephoto lenses, the more you spend the better it will perform in low light conditions. If your budget is in the £1000 range this is the best value for money when it comes to a wildlife lens :) hope that helps.

    • @dropsnooze5274
      @dropsnooze5274 6 місяців тому

      @@beckybokeh Thanks for the kind answer, it already helped :) unfortunately a 2.8 lens would nuke my budget lmao. When shooting with the 750d, how high do you comfortably set the ISO? Of course as low as possible but what do you think the camera can handle well and at which point does the post processing get difficult with the noise?

    • @beckybokeh
      @beckybokeh 4 місяці тому

      Sorry for the late reply! I personally try and stay under iso 1600, sometimes I will go 3200 or 6400 but that’s when it starts to get quite noisy. Beyond 6400 it is just a grainy mess in Lightroom to me. And yes I agree a 2.8 telephoto is simply out of my budget at the moment, this was the best in my price range :)

    As I was photographing at an air show with my Nikkor 28-300 G lens, I found that I had to crop most of the images in post existentially to decently fill the frame. (In fact I could have used a crop sensor and still needed to crop - 300 mm is just not enough) The same occurred when photographing birds. That led to my search for an affordable super-tele zoom and I ended up by Tamron and Sigma 150-600 zooms. After some time reading and viewing reviews, I bought a second hand Sigma Contemporary. I knew by the reviews it was good, but my copy is better than what I've expected. I only stop it down to adjust the exposure or depth of field. Never because for gaining detail. Even with the 1.4x converter on my Olympus OM-D (which results in a FOV like a 1680 mm would give me), the images are sharp. Stopping down 2/3 just adds a little bit of detail on moon and sun shots, but not by such amount that it benefits over the atmospheric distortion (on the Olympus). With such a long focal length atmospheric distortion is more of a problem than the optical aberrations, but still, I am really surprised about this lens. Definitely at that price point. Thanks for sharing your experience.

    I noticed with my lens that the focal length lock does not work. It will keep it locked at 150mm with no problem, but when I lock it on any other preset length, it takes very little force to turn the lens and disengage the lock. It's not a deal breaker for me, as I never need to lock the lens at different focal lengths, but it seems like a design flaw. Otherwise, it's my favorite lens in my lineup!

      The intermediate locking indeed is not as strong as the 150 mm setting, but to me it it is strong enough for pointing up my lens for astrophotography, where shifting would be a big problem. With other lenses, I generally use duct tape to secure them (because astrophotography requires hundreds of long exposure shots and any deviation would render the shots useless).

      this is intentional. so when someone adjusts it forgetting that they locked it.. it doesnt break the lock.

      I never really use the lock either to be honest, if it works as intended it is a useful tool ! It’s definitely my favourite lens that I own too :)
