Nice way of life!! The hat reminds me the spanish hat and the use of spanish words in the cowboy world, such as corral, riata, mecate, lasso, cinches and others, make me think that the roots cames from the mexicans vaqueros from 19 century,

Lou Curtiss used to bring Kenny down for the Roots Festival, springtime San Diego - always one of my favorite performers; a don't-miss. Like an apparition, one night, all wearing tie dye shirts on a raised platform. Pulled me out of the slump that would normally have followed inhaling some funnel cake. The Roots Fest (now called Adams Ave. Acoustic or something) will never be the same without him (Lou Curtiss is gone, too...)

Growing up in Fresno in the 70's and getting to play with Kenny and all those good old folks, I just took it for granted. Too young and stupid to appreciate what a blessing it actually was. Much older and marginally wiser now, I treasure those memories. Lots of good energy to power an old man through the day.

Great video! It is important that the Steelpan or 'pan' for short be recognized as the official name of the instrument and NOT steel drum, a term which orginated only in North America, the steel drum being the raw material from which the steelpan is made. It is daunting that this name persists to date when it is found nowhere in Trinidad & Tobago. Let us help educate and respect culture bearers by using the correct name. Thank you for including the correct terms.
