Riding spectacular trails in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming in the Yamaha Rmax4 LE.

Heavy spring snow is now all but gone, but the creeks are running high. It was really cool to see water running everywhere.

We have been waiting out the return to our local rides this spring. The local foothills received lots of late season snow and we thought by this time it should be free and clear. Not so much. Glad to have record snow pack. Lots of fun too. We got stuck multiple times but were always able to extract ourselves. This video was recorded in the vicinity of Blackhawk, Colorado.

Rmax4 and Rmax2 ride the high country near Keystone ski resort in Colorado. The air quality has been hit or miss the last couple years but was crystal clear on this day. This has to be one of the most visually stunning rides we have the good fortune of living near.

We return for the first time this year to a local favorite. Heavy winter snow prevents us from too far. We were lucky enough to briefly see some moose and deer.

We explore the beautiful White Wash Sand Dunes in the Rmax 1000. The new Tusk Terrabites performed surprisingly well in the deep sand. Located 25 miles South West of Green River Utah. This is one of the few opportunities to be able to ride cross country within its boundaries.

Riding trails around Woodland Park Colorado. First ride of 2023. Heavy winter snow has kept us off the trails unti now. Looking forward to a great new year.
Chaffee County Colorado. Part 2. Mount Antero Trail. October 21, 2022

We headed across the valley to do a quick summit of the Mount Antero trail. The summit is around 13,880 feet. The weather was amazing. At that elevation you get up into the jet stream and the wind can be pretty strong. Luckily it wasn't too bad on this day. The ride is not very technical but incredibly beautiful. This was one of the last days of the season to be able to ride this. Snow came in ...

This was our last destination ride for 2022. This trail is located on the lower Four Mile trail system near Buena Vista, CO. The trail is not very long but is lots of fun for the duration. The mountains in the background are the Collegiate Peaks, specifically Mt. Antero and Mt. Princeton. We finished up early enough to head across valley and summit the Mt. Antero trail. Thanks to my riding budd...

This video is a combo from Eagle County and Pitkin County Colorado. There is a fair amount of silent content due to drone footage and still photos. I am not a fan of stock audio, so put on some good tunes and enjoy.

We returned to Eagle County to see the fall colors. We planned on a Thursday ride in hopes of having the place to ourselves. This is a short trail but has many obstacles which can mean a long day if it is crowded. We didn't see anyone on this day. The machines performed flawlessly.

John and I wait until after Labor Day weekend to ride the most difficult trail in our area. The trail is very steep and has some great technical sections. The Rmax performed well, unfortunately I do something really dumb at the end.

I know I’m a little late, great video Gentleman, Beautiful country!
The most underrated Rmax videos on YT
Thank you for producing videos with no narration and stupid music. I can watch your videos 100 times and they don’t get old. Question why does the two seat look like it’s squatted?
AIR DOWN fellas
Are there a quieter aftermarket exhaust options? That thing would be annoyingly loud to ride all day, especially out exploring nature.
I think somebody makes an electric s x s and I bet it's quite
Someone please teach lead driver to pick a line not placing tallest obstacles directly under the belly.
I think the old boy does pretty good. I hope I'm still picking lines when I'm 75 yrs young
Are you running with both sway bars removed? I’ve pulled the front but heard removing the rear as well would make the machine pretty squirrelly. I’m on 30’s now and the extra clearance has been nice but the ride seems a little rough with 17 lbs in the tires.
I removed both sway bars a while ago. I guess I'm used to the body roll. I have the IQS suspension and running it firm on high speed pavement helps. We run 10 psi almost exclusively. 32" Tusk Aramids.
Lots of snow still in the higher elevations. Is this normal for this time of year?
No it's not. This area got hit with a 48" snowstorm in early April.
Thanks for video. I enjoy the channel
Love to watch you guys putting the RMAX4 through some of the tough stuff!
That area looks familiar....what state?
Good driving 👍
Wait what happened on hells gate?!? 😂
Any other trips or trails planned for this year?
I thought you may have given up on creating videos, glad to see you are back!!! Another epic journey in the books.
Thanks. Need to up my game. We have alot of new terrain we will check out this year. Hopefully some good vids.
When in doubt…
Great video! Could you please tell me what cargo net is on the green XTR?
Great video , this is my type of riding. Is the sway bar disconnected on the Rmax 2 ? It seems to flex pretty nicely!
All sway bars removed.
That looks like Coney Flats on the Middle St. Vrain to me.
What an amazing adventure, definitely on my bucket lists. Thanks for sharing!!!
I just did this run in reverse of you. Webster’s Pass to Radical Hill to Saints John Trail and ended at Montezuma, Colorado.
I hope this is a preview of a future episode. Really enjoy your content.
I would have gone with you. No way to contact you outside of a forum?
How's the Tusk rubber holding up, and what sizes are you running? ~12lbs? Do you think you could have gotten much further, once in the snow, with a more aggressive tire, like the Carnivore? I'm running Carnies on my RMax4, and don't mind giving up a bit of tread wear, for some extra bite on a greasy, exposed, off camber side hill section. I've run the same set of Carnivores- 1st on a '21 YXZ, then moved that set of 30s onto the RMax4. I'm happy with both wear and performance (no flats, mounted to Method beadlocks). Looking forward to some high elevation trails in UT next month.
The zero rattling on that kind of trail is impressive! I feel like all other UTV have tons of rattle and noise compared ti this rig!
Which trail was that? Looks like a great place to test out my new 30” Maxxis Liberty tires. I dropped the front sway bar as well based on your videos and can’t believe what a difference it makes!
What trail are you riding there?
Silver Creek
@@jimscangthanks!
Great video!!! Can’t wait for the next one.
Did you go into the mine? It goes in really far and makes lots of twist and turns.
We have in the past. Pretty cool!
Use to love riding White Wash back in the day before it became so popular. Beside the dunes there is great canyon riding all the way to the river. Thanks for the ride along!
This looks fun where is this at?
This trail starts in Lawson Colorado.
Really enjoyed the video, can’t wait to see where you go next. Do you venture out of Colorado?
That's a drive for me lol, I'll keep it in mind ya never know
We ride Utah and Wyoming as well.
How do I meet up with you for the next trail? 2022 Rmax, Seems like we have about the same skill level
If you are local let me know. Hit me up on the Wolverine forum. DesertDweller67.
Not the usual going up a mountain on a rocky trail, but still enjoyed the video. Can’t wait to see what else is coming next.
Thanks. It's been a while since the last video. Not my usual but there are some places that I want to remember when I'm too old to ride. I enjoy the scenery and I hope others will too.
Love your videos. Does your cab get hot when you’re riding for awhile. I have a Honda pioneer 1000 and the cab area gets really hot even on a 80 degree day. I’m thinking of getting a R max. Thank you for the videos.
I love your videos. I have a question. Does the cab get hot at all. I have a Honda pioneer 1000 and it gets really hot to where your legs feel that they are on fire. I’m thinking on getting a Rmax. Thank you. Frank
The front doesn't get very hot from the engine. The back seats can get warm, especially if your legs touch the center engine cover.
What size tires are you running on the rmax4 and is it stock suspension great video
I was running 30" Maxxis Liberty's (Rmax4) and John was running new 32" Terrabites. I just put on 32" Terrabite Aramides. We both have Bandit tender springs, front limit straps, and no sway bars. Thanks.
Always look forward to seeing your adventures. Can’t wait to see what’s next!!!
Great video and beautiful scenery, thanks for upload, I watch them all.
I love trail riding, but this is a little too extreme. Great job, I look forward to more of your videos!!
It would be interesting if you would tell what drive mode, Gear, diff lock, etc, you are running at the technical parts of the trail
I appreciate the thought. What I can say is that you can usually hear us switch into diff lock. Often accompanied with expletives when it doesn't shift right away. Drive mode. I run in trail mode most of the time. I will run in crawl in more technical terrain. The slow throttle response is nice when the terrain gets uneven/off cambre and you are trying not to roll it. I rarely use sport mode. Deep snow and sand which is seldom for me. Thanks.
If there ever was a case of needing the front (at least) stabilizer bar removal.....I just watched it, very little articulation observed! To bad manufacturers have to deal with liability issues as much as they do!
This was running without sway bars in front. Removed rear shortly after.
Hello, I watched a number of your videos as I wait for my RMAX4 XT-R to arrive. Have you done a walk around on any mods to your RMAX? Tire sizes, fwd front a-arms/stock, etc. Is it on Wolverineforums? How does the full windshield with solid vinyl/poly rear work on dust?
I have not done a walk around. I am happy to mention some specifics. Right now I am running 30" Maxxis Liberty's with 1.5" spacers all around. I have Weller tie rods as well. A arms are stock. I have the Yamaha synthetic full skid plate ( a must). I have a thing for wind in my face and rarely have my windshield up. I thought I made a mistake in not getting the flip up windshield until I drove my buddies xtr and because of my height it obstructed my view. The soft rear window is perfect for me. Really cuts down on dust. I am also running the Bandit tender springs on all corners and they are a huge improvement. I am running a greaseless cvt with carbon fiber sliders. My next upgrades will be 32" tires, power vision 3, putting a shim in the cvt for better low end and the new hood light. You are going to love that machine. Good luck!
@@jimscang Thanks for the reply. I am looking at building my own glass fold down windshield with wiper. I think I can use the brush guard for a down mounting point. The Bandit, Schmidy, or Shock Therapy shock upgrade is on my list. I have seen that hood light on Amazon. Should I wear the OEM tires out before upgrade? Is your setup the same on all for corners? Was the Weller tie rods preventative or a repair?
I would run those tires. I would have except I tore a sidewall and they were not available at the time. So I ended up buying tusk beadlocks and tge Liberty's. I also bought a spare combo. The carnage sidewalls are a little soft so be careful, otherwise not a bad tire. I did go with a square setups with 10" wide. The tie rods were because I did something stupid. I just got through a very technical section and was being distracted and ran into a 20" boulder on the driver's side. Luckily my buddy had a spare at his house and we were able to change it out the next day. The Wellers are a better design. I wouldn't switch them out unless you have to. That happened on my Spring Creek video.
Sorry, Silver Creek.
@@jimscang OBTW Really enjoy your filming style, with POV, exterior shots, moving around, makes it interesting and is great seeing the RMAX(s) work through the technical stuff. Thank you.
Awesome trails
This is Holy Cross... Not sure why you want to hide it. Tons of people attempt this trail.
Just for the record I am not interested in advertising any trails we ride going forward. Social media is quickly getting trails closed through over use and abuse. It doesn't take much effort to figure out where these trails are.
@@jimscang I'm not concerned with what you're interested in. Keep them open through education about trail etiquette instead of secrecy and pretending they belong to you or that only you are allowed to access them. You should be more open to welcoming people that want to join the off-road community. If you're that worried, disable the comments or stop showcasing the trails.
You must be young Padawan. These videos are to enjoy. If you need guidance, direction or to be educated than I suggest watching someone else's videos.
So if you get a queezy stomach just from watching the video, I guess that means don’t go.😂
does this trail have a name. I want to ride it
Red Elephant Hill
that looks like a fun trail!! Have any GPX tracks you'd be willing to share?
jimscang, you guys have been running the Rmax for a while now. do you have any complaints about them?
All things considered, I am very happy with it. The only thing I would change is my seating position. I am 6' 3" and am a little cramped in the cockpit. I think for most people this is not an issue. I am going to modify the seat mount to tilt it back a little. These machines a very reliable and I love how they perform. No regrets.
@@jimscang I'm 6'1" and I could use more legroom also. I may try moving seat back, but it looks like I would have to do some cutting and welding. 2021 rmax 4 le. looking at some tusk terabytes and bead locks 31 inch.
You guys ever see any elk
Once in a while. Believe it or not I have seen more moose this year thank elk.
Thanks for another great video! You got some breathtaking footage on the that shelf road. Looks like a fun trail!
Awesome video. This looks like one of the most difficult trails you've done, at least on video. Is that Chinaman Gulch / Carnage Canyon?
