Is the ink blotchy? And, does it dry quickly or smear?

best pen for sure.

I love this pen because I can write more in the margins of my med school books, but often the tip gets damaged. I'm probably too careless with them, idk... it starts writing like a needle that cuts my paper, so at that point I need to toss them even if they have ink left. Is there any way to refill or to replace just the tip?

It seems that the line is far lesser than 1.0... it seems pretty thin, don't you agree?

I just discovered the Zebra Z Grip Flight at the Dollar General. It has hybrid ink. 1.2mm. Very smooth.

By the way, those tiny erasers on mechanical pencils, are PERFECT, for the job that those pencils are built for, and that's Technical drawing. Pentel has the best ones on their pencils bar none. People who don't like those erasers, or finds them tiny etc, are wrong, because they got the wrong tool for their needs, and they are judging it, as something it was never meant to be. Even for free drawing, you can't draw, without an eraser like that. That's why all Artists, own and use a lot, the Tombow Mono Zero pencil eraser. it's a similar tiny eraser, that all mechanical pencils come with, just with higher quality/performance.

I've tried almost all the famous mechanical pencils out there and for many years. The verdict: The Pentel Graphgear 500, is the best mechanical pencil for drawing. Why not the 1000? Because the tip isn't stable and generally the 1000 can fail, it's not trustful at professional level. The reason these pencils exist, is their precision, retractable tips, do not offer that precision, they are just pencils designed for on the go situations, with the sacrifice of performance/precision/reliability. As for lead holders, yes I love the Rotring Rapid Pro 2mm, but it's the Faber Castell TK 9400/TK 4600 that most Architects/professionals use. (Same brand leads too, except for the Pentel Graphgear, where the Ain Stein are really good quality and the way to go for 0.5/0.3mm pencils. As for writing or edc, taking notes etc, the Pentel Kerry can't be beat. Honorable mention, budget friendly do it all workhorse pencil, Pentel P205. It's the Toyota Corolla of the Pencil world. There is a reason ,it's one of the most copied pencils ever. Most Japanese brands, have copied that and the Graphgear 500 design, with some of them, having copied those designs, almost 100% but none is as good, as the originals by Pentel. PS Rotring is Porsche / Faber Castell is the Mercedes and Staedtler is BMW of the pencil world lo

The only problem with Pilot pens is : Their ink is NOT waterproof. 😭

My favorite pen. Precise. It does not skip. Only thing is...if you drop it and it lands on the point... game over.

i have this pencil and i really like it!! the only downside is that the tip where the led comes out is a bit fragile and can bend easily but everything else is amazing!

Pentel's P200 and GG500 series are A LOT BETTER than the GG1000.

Why not check if the ink is visible from the other side of the paper? That s an important point.

I recently grabbed a couple of 1.0mm G2s and am enjoying them; but I think 0.7mm is still my favorite. Even 0.5mm is a bit too small for my preference! 😁
