We can observe both those facets of being kind to those you love and strong when you need to be in Aragorn, who can be seen fighting, but also singing, throughout the movies. The problem about Elrond in Rings of power is that we see his soft side, but not only do we not see his strong side, we dont see anything that suggests such a strong side even exists. THAT is why he looks weak and feminine. (to give a real life parallel: nobody thinks Goethe was weak and feminine because he wrote poetry. We may think nowadays that poetry isn't the most masculine thing to do, but we also know Goethe fought in battle, which is like, the most traditionally masculine thing to do)

To start off, I want to say that you and Little Platoon are my go to reviewers. I enjoy both of you precisely because you are measured, analytical, go into great detail, have obviously done your research, and to top it all off, are humorous in your presentation, which I really enjoy. On this video: I enjoyed your response to HFM. I think you've been fair and measured. I subscribed to HFM a while back, only to unsubscribe precisely because of his condescending and preachy manner as put on display here. I find HFM to be full of himself. Preaching at me about who I should or should not listen to on UA-cam is the quickest way to lose my subscription - which is what he did in my case. Hopefully that's a little comforting. As you said, the audience is not stupid. We can think for ourselves. I think in just about all cases, there is not one single reviewer I follow whom I agree with on every opinion - and if I dont agree I'll generally respectfully say so in comments. Also if any reviewer consistently were to be racist, mysognist, or overly preachy about politics (I mean the odd mention now and then - yeah, they're human, they have views - so I dont care about a passing comment) I'd probably stop watching. People can decide that for themselves. We dont need some up himself superior youtube reviewer to instruct us.

I'm a lefty, I suspect I disagree with Random on a lot of things politically, and I find him to be the best critic on this site. The amount of time he spends detailing why he arrives at his conclusions is frankly insane, and I can't imagine how anyone could think he lazily dismisses anything as "woke". Shad and Drinker, in particular - especially Drinker - are clearly not political activists: They simply fell into criticising THE MESSAGE, which is so blatant. Just Some Guy is actually pretty "progressive", but not "woke" enough to want it all over the media, and is very knowledgeable about Tolkien. I wouldn't be surprised if HFM was so in agreement with The Message that he simply doesn't recognise its existence - despite there not only being mounds of evidence, but "progressives" admitting to pushing it. It comes across like this part of the video is a struggle-session to prove he's "not one of them", as well as simply being offended that other people aren't fond of his beloved feminism and its outcomes on Western society - or limp-wristed men like him. Marriage does seem to send male feminists more mad than they already were.

Such a shame that antagonists have to reduce to lowest denominators.
