Belíssimo!!!
I wondered who Archdeacon Thornburgh might have been, so did a little research. He was the Venerable Edward Thornburgh, Archdeacon of Worcester 1629-45, also a Canon of Salisbury Cathedral. MA St. Alban Hall, Oxford, 1610. D.D., Christ Church, Oxford, 1636. Died 1645 aged about 58.
I had planned to click out on the sermon part, but the captivating delivery made me listen all the way through. A young man going places in the church.
What a sublime and perfect performance of Mr.Handel’s great oratorio “Messiah”. This must be the most perfect musical work of all time and supreme among the greatest of musical composers across the centuries. Profound thanks and sincere congratulations to all concerned with its preparation and performance. No other past performance could surpass it nor is likely to be so for the foreseeable future, if ever! Sincere thanks and congratulations to all concerned! 😅 Owen, Adelaide, SA.
To think Jesus shed his blood for ME and you..
Super
Thank you so much for providing these Liturgies to the world. The camera persons didn't want viewers to watch the organist play the Organ Voluntary in its entirety? Is that why they took the camera away from the organist -- I was intently watching him -- after a bit to show another part of the Chapel? The same for when they started showing windows rather than the priest who was chanting? I would think that would be considered disrespectful to the priest, no? And the same thing when they took the camera off the choristers and started showing a painting rather than the superb Choir singing the Magnificat of the Howells. I wanted to watch the choristers. The Choir was not in camera view until the Gloria. They had been made "background music" by production. A Choir of this high caliber deserves better. It seems to me that they should not be relegated to being "background music." After all, the name of this channel is *Choir* of The Queen's College, Oxford.
I forgot to say that the soloist in the Howells's Nunc Dimittis has a lovely voice. I really enjoyed him.
love this😊❤🎉
Scripture set to music has been powerful throughout the centuries. My mother sang High Holy Days in the Synagogue in Hebrew! Some of the composers were unfamiliar to me. I was 14 years old attending her rehearsal.
13:21 Music begins
God Bless you all!!!
Wonderful occasion. Great lunchtime concert.
An exceptional performance.
☦ Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost, now and always and for ever and ever, Amen ☦
El mesías lo escuchamos todos los viernes después de recibir el Sábado.Es muy pero muy especial.Una música divina.
beautiful
Very nice intelligent playing. I'd now like to hear her playing some music from the "Romantic" period on this same organ . (E.g.) Franck, Dupre: Widor; Lemmens. (from Brian Williams organist St. German's church, Cardiff)
Christ is King!✝️👍👏
Absolutely brilliant sermon
The church mouse stepped on a recording button 3 minutes before they were ready to start🙂
bravo this is a masterpiece by handel it is so well done bravo
What a fantastic performance! Sheer perfection
If you enjoy Stilton cheese maybe you wou'll get the jist of this.
I have revisited this recording several times. Each time, my enjoyment of the performances increases. The synchronization of orchestra, choral singers and soloists is extraordinary. I have listened to Handel's Messiah so many times, each musical section is programmed into my brain. Each time I listen to those sections, I experience some kind of endorphin pleasure . So I guess Handel's composition is kind of like a drug A healthy and natural one I might add.
oh, no me canso de escuchar estas hermosas voces !!
❤🙏Beautiful!
Premiered #otd in 1742 in Dublin 💐💐💐
What a blessing, indeed men and women made in the image of God
Magnificent!
AWSOME. Thank you!
Que bellas voces ,siempre nos referimos a los angeles cuando escuchamos voces tan hermosas como esta ,bellisimo.
But if the choir had masks I wouldn't stay a sec.
Glorious truly
Nice no silly clapping to ruin it.
Stay at home & grow up
Great performance though
Dum bass masked people. Live in fear, ... But not tooooo much.
Minuto 19:29 me parece que se escucha una desafinación de violín?
Haendl
Its wonderful
Amazing
Maravillosa entrega. Muchas gracias, desde Colombia.

!!!❤🎉!!!
I used to attend lunchtime recitals at Queen's in 1965, the year this organ was installed. It is still as much a delight to hear as it was then. I think it ought to be listed (if it isn't already!) to ensure it is never replaced or modified, as a lasting memorial to James Dalton.
Ppl put your phones away!
amen!
