Hi I am Japanese I spent one year each places both Thailand and Malaysia, and for me Thailand was one of the best place that I ever lived. Bangkok is super convenient and there all kinds of people you can meet up, or Chiang Mai is the most peaceful city with beautiful mountains. Most Europeans like Phuket but imo it was too touristic. Anyway you'd like Thai people and their Buddhism mindset, because I met many ppl like you and they seem enjoying over there including myself. Juuust enjoy!
