    I like the GM gimbals I just haven't been able to really make one work like I want with my controls. With the GM3 I noticed it's pretty decent out of the box with only controls for the pitch and yaw, but of course it's a 3-axis follow that has a little bit of delay to it. I didn't have an extra knob to change the sensitivity though so when switching the modes it seemed like the yaw-follow would go back to the slowest delay. I'll have to get something like an MT10 I guess. What I like the most about it is the turning angles on the yaw though. I have it set up with an EPA switch so that it's easy to look all the way behind me as well as just side to side, which is a real cool bonus that I can't get out of the HEQ gimbal.

    • @JIPPERR_1
      @JIPPERR_1 24 дні тому

      @Magneticitist I'd be interested ed to know if the head tracking feel intuitive for you. Sounds like maybe not if theres delay. I had similar issue on the storm32 gimbals and in the end I just wanted the stabilized view. I've heard that the yaw motor bearings loosen up with a lot of high speed off road driving so not sure if I'll be trying one of the the caddx/xf three axis. I do like the way three axis feels and mix in some steering input to the yaw so the camera looks into the corners ✌️

    • @Magneticitist
      @Magneticitist 23 дні тому

      @@JIPPERR_1 I might have the ability to do it using the goggles I have but I honestly never tried cause I didn't like the idea of it. I don't think it would really be a problem though as far as it not being intuitive. As far as commanding the pitch or yaw to move there wasn't a delay or anything. When I say delay I just mean what I assume is the sensitivity of each axis. Basically I've been running the thing where I have the pitch and yaw on a couple PWM channels, and the mode select on another that is just a on/off toggle. I didn't have an extra potentiometer on the controller to adjust the sensitivity so I'm just dealing with whatever happens when switching modes. For me when just leaving the PWM mode channel 'low' it puts it in 3-axis follow mode. It seems to provide just enough lock on each axis to where the steering is not too counterintuitive. It's more of a tight lock that allows a bit of stabilization on each axis as well. When I switch the mode to 'high' it ends up being the yaw-only follow mode, but then while the pitch and roll stabilizing, the yaw ends up having much less of a hard lock than before in 3-axis follow mode.

      Oh of course I forgot though, that is all using the older firmware so IDK what changes they've made. The caddx website was down for me when trying to get the firmware but I see it's back up now so I guess I'll see.

    If you get a GM3 gimbal, with 3 axis of movement, would you try the head tracking? THAT is the big deal about the system. Instead of jumping through hoops for transmitter- based head tracking, it works with your head's movement through their goggles. The only problem I see is if you happen to inadvertently move your head to more clearly see something, the vehicle or even quad will move in that direction.

    • @JIPPERR_1
      @JIPPERR_1 Місяць тому

      @@kodak_jack for me head tracking isn't a big deal but I know it's really high on the list for many people. The caddx gm3 and head tracking goggles looks like a very nice system and they've really made it well integrated for sure. For me when I've used a head tracker before it did not actually feel very intuitive. What did work well, and I think people may confuse this with what head tracking does, is having a 3 axis gimbal with yaw tied into the steering input so it looks in the direction of the front wheels and having a lot of range of motion in the yaw axis. This way to rc can really slide around and the camera will look into the corners or follow counter steering input etc while filtering out the jolts the car may experience. Head tracking could assist in this but not necessary for it. One area head tracking really helps is in tight courses where you want to look into the corner before you start to steer the wheels. Or driving slow and looking around, head trackers are really good for that, but it's such a low key application that head tracking etc is overkill. Long answer I know, end of the day I think people should go for it woth ht and 3 axis cause there is almost no way to understand it without experiencing it. My worry is that the caddx/xf and heq lack the tuning adjustments needed to really make 3 axis shine. Storm32 was extreme on the tuning parameters.

    Great vid mate, youre the granddaddy of RC FPV. When this takes off, and it will, you will be the guy who was there from the get-go! I never did get around to building my gimbal but i did pick up an XF 3 axis and bolted it into my 4S Mojave and bro, it's fucken sick. looks like i only needed the 2 axis though. I did want to buy the 2 axis but the AliExpress shops list it and the single axis as more than $1000 for some weird reason... So the Caddx cable fits an old DJI unit & cam but not an 03 air unit, is that right? I've gotta post a vid soon on the Mojave tearing balls, I've discovered the best spot! I'll post it on the FB page when i get around to it. I've given the 3 axis HELL and it seems fine...

    I heard you said you don't need shock oil at the beginning of the video, not sure if you were being sarcastic or not but either way the tuning tricks ive found to help me is soft springs, normally softer in the rear if you don't go with the same spring rate. Roughly 60wt to 100w oil in the front shocks to keep the travel slow, it depends how many holes are in your shock piston. And in the rear you want the shock to fully extend with the tires staying on the ground when going down hill, if they extend while the truck is picking up the tire already in the rear only then the oil is to thick. You will be surprised how much springs and oil make a difference in how the truck performs, even if you are at a beginner stage in crawling it helps alot. Keep on tiny truckin🤙

    ah dude, i just bought the FX gimbal... great work though mate, I'll probably end up getting one down the line anyway👍 just smashed the front wheel off my Mojave 4s this morning, wouldnt have happened if i was driving it FPV!! And why couldn't you, Chad Rains and i live on the same street? Damn it, it's impossible to find mates into FPV rc😫😆

      @@boccatxrx5023 the fx gimbal is going to be the way to go, I'll be getting some myself 👍 just waiting for the dust to settle a bit and I'll get a 2 or three axis. In a way this is what I've been waiting for. What I'd like to see are more of the control boards and motors available so I can work them into the custom builds.

    Key thing here is we now have a way to share parts via send cut send 👍 And you have an excuse to go buy a Mojave 6s.

    Hi Jipperr is the o3 latency tolerable for high speed racing with your Mojave 6s?

    • @JIPPERR_1
      @JIPPERR_1 3 місяці тому

      @@twistedyogi hey this isn't the 03, we're using an original dji airunit with the caddx camera on this rc. All the stabilization you see is via a two axis gimbal I've built. That being said I feel the latency is tolerable on this equipment, I do notice it at times especially if I run analog for a while then switch back to this machine. I've been told that dji is still best for range and penetration. Hard to know without back to back testing, wish I had my goggles recording here cause it got quite mushy at the far ends of the course.
