The Quadratic Method: Factoring without Guessing and Testing
Переглядів 3,5 тис.4 роки тому
This is a video originally created for high school algebra teachers who want to provide their students with an alternative method for factoring quadratic expressions and solving quadratic equations. Traditional methods focus on guessing and testing or using the quadratic formula. This method, which was written up by Po-Shen Loh of Carnegie Mellon University, represents a novel way of tackling q...
Proving Trigonometric Identities Part I
Переглядів 4184 роки тому
This part 1 of 2 videos on proving identities. There are a few strategies to keep in mind when proving trigonometric identities. They are: 1. Write expressions in terms of sine and cosine. 2. Use the basic reciprocal, quotient, and pythagorean identities. 3. Add or subtract rational expressions. 4. Factor where possible.
Proving Trigonometric Identities Part II

This was very helpful and clarifying! Thank you!
Nice job. This new algorithm isn't that hard to learn because it has exactly the same calculations as completing the square.
thank you SO MUCH!
im a freshman in college right now. i just wanna say i love your explanation on this. i love you man!
thank you so much
THANKYOUUWHEU I was struggling for half an hour scratching my brain on why tf I was not getting the answer and turns out my calculator was just in degrees
This means, When it is not mentioned, by default it would be in RADIANS secondly, if minutes(') or seconds ('') is given it is in DEGREE measure ❤ thaks man for immense help ❤
For clarity it would help to move the unit circle 1 to the left...
I think you mean that you can better see the tangent graph if we move the circle left one unit?In that case, the circle would no longer be the unit circle since it would not have center (0,0). In addition, you would not see a correspondence between the coordinates on the unit circle and the points on the graph.
I have at this point failed trig twice and until this exact moment have had 0 clue about how the angles of a trig function translate to a graph and I actually think I like math again, heres going for round 3!
Thank you very much for the work you've done!
bump
Theta angle is outside of the triangle in 2nd,3rd,4th quadrant.....😮
How do you make it so that it takes off your lowest and highest score when calculating the average
Great video!
shots g appreciate it
THANK YOUUUUUUU
hi give me software please
Excellent explanation
V good video but I was hoping more explanation difference between degrees and radians
Anything that is not sin and cos replace. Got it.
Hi, there! There's a problem in geometry. There's a figure shown of a right angled triangle where I need to find the area of triangle using the sine law. So doing that: A | \ | \ | \ | \ | \ 5 | \ | \ | \ | \ | \ B ____________C 3 In degree mode: 1/2 * 5 (one side of the triangle) * 3 (the other side of the triangle) * sin(90) Answer: 15/2 In radian mode: 1/2 * 5 (one side of the triangle) * 3 (the other side of the triangle) * sin(90) Answer: 6.71 How do you know which one is the correct area and which mode should be used here?
Bro I was about to tear my book apart
This video goes crazy!!! One of the best I've seen so far explaining this topic!! I immediately subscribed, from one Math Educator to another!
Welcome aboard!
Rule of thumb: When you use trigonometric functions, then use radians. Otherwise, use degrees. (Unless it is stated otherwise in the question).
Thank you.
You're welcome!
You're a bloody legend mate!
thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My Final Trig Exam today and I have been blessed by this video, you don't know how helpful this is😭
is there a way to edit an image of an activity?
I searched high and low for this simple explanation of “c”/phase shift, what it is and how to calculate it. Thanks!
These videos are very helpful. Thank you.
Great explanation!! Really loved it.
saved my ass 3 years after your upload. ty
How did you find out C? I am very confused on that
For a sine graph, look at the distance between the y-axis and the first median point of the graph going up. for cosine, look at the distance between the y-axis and the first maximum point of the graph.
Thank you!
Fred, are you willing to share that DESMOS graph? I teach Precalculus and that was pretty damn cool!
Very understandable, and clear
Could you please let us know what application you use to visualize these functions?
Yes, this is the Desmos graphing tool available at Desmos.com.
Thank you very much. 🙏
Great Video! 👍 Do you by any chance have a video on how to construct these animated/unwrapping graphs and unit circle using Desmos?
Would you be willing to share your Desmos Graph? I'm baffled how you drew a purple curve from 0,0 to the sine point.
I do not have the file anymore, but I just used polar coordinates on Desmos. You can simply define your circle by naming its radius. You can also establish a parameter that is common to both the sine function and a point moving in a corresponding manner around the unit circle. I believe you can also find a file by searching “unit circle” and “Desmos”. Good luck!
Good video. Very helpful for beginners. Thanks.
You’re welcome!
This circle causes me so much stress
I’m sorry to hear that. Another option to help you solve trigonometric equations is to use special triangles. There’s less to look at there. So maybe less to see will result in less stress?
My mind is blown. Thanks for the video
You’re welcome!
thank you
No problemo.
Amazing explanation sir🎉❤thank you so much😊🎉
You’re welcome! Glad it helped you!
phew I was close to taking PSAT and I didn’t know when to use radians and when to use degrees this was a lifesaver
Glad to be of assistance. Hope the PSAT went well!
looooove you, thaaaaank youuuuuu
Wow! The looooove is amazing!
thank you! I was having difficulty visualizing this, and you really helped me! Super simple explanation, very useful :)
Glad it helped!
Godsend!
Very glad you found it helpful!
dude you are seriously the goat for this its actually impossible to find good videos on how to use the ti84 for stuff like this, thank you so much this will help me a lot on my exam
Happy to help!
Thank you very helpful
You’re welcome! Feel free to check out my other trig videos!
