This video is in response to mr. Ying ye. One of my viewers of my previous video. This video explains how to disable your vehicles VDC Vehicle Dynamics Control which is Subarus version of electronic stability control or stabilitrak as chevrolet calls it. Its a feature that helps prevent your vehicle from entering an out of control slide/spinout etc. Disabling this also disables the vehicles tra...

2015 base model impreza review
Переглядів 17 тис.9 років тому
A personal, detailed review on my 2015 subaru impreza base model. Its a 5 speed manual in Venetian red pearl... Cheapest impreza money can buy. I was out the door at just over $17k after trade in.

    I have the 2016 Imprezza limited and it's a good car. Very inexpensive and nice. If you just need a car, I'd definitely recommend it.

    Thank you for this, I've been looking into buying my first manual car and this seemed perfect for me since I found a pretty clean one for 10 grand with only 50k miles on it and it's a toyota so it'll last forever

    Speaking on the rattling too, I've got the same in my 2015 Impreza Prem CVT. I'm pretty sure it's that top brake light cap, it seems a little loose. Haven't tried fixing it myself yet, but I also haven't noticed it very recently so I haven't bothered. I think it's noticeably worse in colder weather.

      are you all talking about the rattle that sounds similar to a rusty heat shield? Ive got the same car, i hear a horrible metallic rattle when I accelerate from lights and stop signs

    I was going in for one of these a few weeks ago. ended up getting an 08 WRX from another dealer. Seems like those problems with the noises and rattling are common. My 08 has those too. Lol. thanks for the update on your car!

    Hey man, good review! Wanting to pick one of these up as a daily. Thinking more so the hatch back but, how would you say passing power is at highway speeds? I don't need another fast car but I don't want a total dog either lol. Thanks.

    • @danielgeorge7444
      @danielgeorge7444 8 років тому

      Its slow. As long as the person your passing doesnt try to race you your fine. Sometimes it feels peppy around town. Other times it feels slower. Summer time with a/c it gets bad

    • @S2kTi
      @S2kTi 8 років тому

      +Daniel George yeah figured as much. But that's not what it's mean for. As long as it feels peppy in the lower gears and can reasonably pass at highway speeds then that's all that matters. Thanks

    Thanks bro. I bought a 2016 forester with CVT trans. I find out if I do this to my car. It will lock the transmission as you said. But the car still can do some power sliding on snow with VDC off. Thanks again for making this video.

      So, if I just push the traction control button once, I should be able to whip some donuts? Man coming from a GM car, this is pathetic. GM one push of the button turns off TC fully, then hold it again for 7 seconds disables everything but ABS, which cannot be disabled unless you pull a fuse. From my understanding when you push the TC button on my Subaru it removes engine suppression but still runs tire braking for traction. Yet does it disable the stability control function, confusing?

    • @kyle8575
      @kyle8575 4 роки тому

      @@kartboarder22g17 on my 2015 Forester it still uses ABS, will do throttle cuts/limits, and will hit the brake on certain tires when it feels it needs to. It does this in the sand and its unbelievably annoying because the car handles great in it otherwise.

    Nice review. I own a 2014 Impreza Premium sedan. It's a nice car, but I can echo your comment about initially liking the sedan better because of the looks, but finding the trunk to be next to useless, and thinking the hatchback would be lots more useful. I also like the Crosstrek XV and wished I'd spent the extra couple of G's for that as my other complaint about this car is the low ground clearance. I have the CVT which takes some getting used to but like the low to m,id 30's for mixed driving.

      pretty much all passenger vehicles are required to have tpms since about 2008, only exclusions are 3500/350 series trucks and duallies. Even now some DRW trucks have tpms.

    Great review... I have a 2012 Impreza Premium manual; maybe you saw my video about it. My only main complaint is that it's slow off the line, especially with the A/C on -- it could really benefit from a turbo. Other than that, I've been very happy with it, and it's been perfectly reliable. p.s. Hold your phone sideways next time to get the correct aspect ratio. :-)

    I have a 2013 limited. And I gotta say I'd rather have your 2015 base. My car has burning issues, bluetooth system is shit (rarely ever connects, if it does it disconnects after 2-3 songs), no pandora, I do have aux and usb but I don't use them. No backup camera...I owe more on my car right now after 3 years of ownership than the sticker price of your car. I feel stupid

    Nice review mate, it's very helpful. I am moving to Australia from China and thinking of getting a manual impreza just like you. My first car was a Rover SW back in England, I'm currently driving an MG6. I'm the kind of guy who like to build up revs, entering the corner heel&toe. But obviously the impreza seats are rubbish, so I'd love to have seats hugging me tight, like Recaro What I like to ask is that, are the side airbags mounted in the front seat? Anyway, good to see another stick driving guy, cheers again mate.

    Thanks so much for the awesome overview. I am currently debating between the 2015 honda civic and 2015 impreza. I have driven a civic in the past and remain a civic fan however i have been considering the impreza for its awd capability. Just wondering if you could speak to that at all (how you feel the impreza stacks up to the civic you drove, whether you've noticed a positive difference with the awd, if the subaru makes excessive noise or has trouble on the highways as compared with thd civic etc). Thanks so much again for taking the time to put the video together and for your input.

      jujiboy Yeah I actually have the same question. How user friendly is this car in terms of operating the clutch?

    • @danielgeorge7444
      @danielgeorge7444 9 років тому

      My civic was a 2005. I loved my civic and i still think civics are great cars. But just how the subarus Are designed and how the drivetrain is laid out i wont own anything but a subaru for now on. Very smooth on the highway and nice and quiet. No complaints with the 5 speed. Very light clutch and shifts very smooth. I averaged 37mpg highway and mid 20s around town... Awd system is state of the art and it stays flat in the corners

    I believed all Subarus have standard AWD features on their product line up. That is one of the best thing to consider when buying a car since it is a pain driving a FWD during bad winter days.
