Question is which area has less experts driving demand and pays more?
Good question! This is something to think about.
Hi i just wanted to know whether us board consider foreign professional degree towards CPA us credits I have 3 year bachelor degree with 140 credits Also i have cima uk professional qualification
You will probably have to contact NASBA and request and foreign education evaluation. But I am no totally familiar with he process. Here's more info. nasba.org/products/nasbainternationalevaluationservices/
well explained in simple terms
Thank you! Let me know if you want to see any other topics 👍🏻
That's a good idea about how to use their "excel" version and the calculator in the exam! The formatting is so frustrating. Doing a video about how to set up the excel formatting wise would be nice. I know some people say they pre-format columns, like one for percentages, one for fractions, one rounded to 4 places, etc, etc. Seems like you'd need to widen all the columns right away. I've also wondered if some kind of journal entry template could be helpful. It's a lot to put together.
Thanks for the comment! I can look into doing a video like this - it's a common question. I didn't personally have a setup for the excel on exam day - just used it randomly. But if you need help visualizing journal entries I can see the benefit.
How many hours did you study for each exam individually? Far? I'm studying for FAR now and am 128 hours in. I should be halfway through Becker's program. I stopped now though and am only doing review because I'm forgetting and I'm only getting 50% on multiple choice review. I get so close and often have correct logic behind my wrong answers lol. For example, yesterday there was one of those "Couger football team sells season tickets bla bla bla 5 home games 6 away games." Well I thought on another one of those they did clarify that their season tickets were only for their home games and on this one they didn't. So I did the problem as if the season tickets were for both home and away games. Those are so frustrating to me. In college and in the real world you could ask a clarifying question there. We're not all sports fans lol I don't think that 30 or so of my hours really count because I was jumping around, trying to figure out how to study again, and I don't remember anything from college.
Hours I studied for each: FAR-228 | REG-123 | AUD-78 | BEC-160 Keep in mind this was before the CPA Evolution - I took FAR when Becker had 10 sections for FAR. I had to know IFRS and a lot of other topics that have been dropped since. Yeah I would say every couple days in your studying go back and do some practice MCQ tests from previous sections. Not a huge amount of time - just do a random practice set from F1 or F2 for like 10-15 questions. Just to keep that stuff fresh in your mind. I had the same worries as I was studying. Just trust the process and give yourself time for occasional review of previous sections. Please reach out with any other questions or videos you'd like to see!
@@JPThomasCPA Oh wow I didn't know that Becker used to have 10 sections for FAR! Didn't realize I was lucky. Thanks so much :) Do you have any tips for studying simulations?
Sorry - didn't mean to come across that FAR is easy now - it is still a difficult exam - just normal changes over time. I would say just practice them in Becker consistently to get comfortable with the format and using the exhibits. Find the actual question or what the SIM is asking before diving into all the extra info. Once you know what it is asking for, it is much easier to sift through the information. But it really comes down to knowing the content too.
lol the dress shoes and basketball shorts are hilarious
Dress for success! haha
Thank you so much!! I’ve been trying to watch all lectures but time wise it’s taking a million years. But I’m also failing all MCQ. Can’t decide how to proceed.
Yeah I would reassess to see if you really need to be spending more time on lectures. If you aren't absorbing the info. Unfortunately theses exams really can't be rushed - and there's no quick hack. Make sure you are reading the answer explanations and filling understanding before you go on to the next MCQ. Best of luck!
I’m enrolled in a MSAcc mainly because the military is paying for it
I would probably do the same thing in your case! Thanks for your service!
thank you
You're welcome!
Hey the schedule is superb and can you please help me out/suggest for some UA-cam lectures for CPA
Farhat Lectures are good. I have some videos as well with more on the way.
Great advice
Thanks for the comment!
Thanks for this video. I signed up with becker on the fresh start program. You're right. I asked each CPA on my job. They all said they passed with Becker. Secondly, I trust what you said. I don't need to buy anything else. Just do everything becker says to do and I should be in great position to pass! Thank you sir.
Thanks for the comment!! Glad you found it useful, and that your peers had similar experiences. Best of luck with your exams!
Hi, could you do a video about study tips for each exam? What you did, what worked for you- essentially what your day-to-day studying entailed as well as what you did the week or 2 leading up to your exam date?
I can definitely do this! Thanks for your comment 👍🏻
Good Video JP. You're right, it's only like 23% pass all 4 in 1 swoop.
Thanks for the support! It's really easy to get down on yourself, but what matters is getting back up again.
What's your success story after failing an exam??
Will I be able to take FAR exam between 1 st jan 2024 to 10 th jan 2024? ...Please reply
Yes if you have your NTS and are ready to schedule! Also if exams centers haven't filled up yet. That's a little late to sign up and you may have trouble depending on your area.

Which CPA Exam are you taking first in 2025??
Thanks for posting :) .. I'm about 3 weeks into studying now for my first exam, FAR, with becker. Nice to just not feel alone lol.
Thanks for the comment! Good luck with FAR! You are definitely not alone in this journey. Reach out with any questions along the way! 👍🏻
Great advice! Very knowledgeable.
Question I think you already have answered. I graduated in 2019 and have been working since. I did public accounting to start off for 1.5 years and have been doing corporate accounting for about 1.5 years. Does the two years of work experience start once this new pathway is implemented or can my prior work experience count?
Good question! Yes, the way the rules are written now, your prior experience would count. Again it would have to satisfy the requirements I mentioned in the video, but between public accounting and corporate accounting, it's very likely it satisfies.
@@JPThomasCPA That's awesome!! How likely do you think this new requirement will actually pass? I just signed up for classes for the spring starting in January. If this passes then there's no reason to take classes.
Definitely do not drop out of your classes. This is a long term thing. Even if the AICPA/NASBA issues final rules in 2025, each State Accountancy Board has to approve this into State Law. Since the individual states control the license requirements. Each state would have to adopt this individually, and it is not clear how fast that would be for each state. For example, the 150 Hour rule was originally adopted by the AICPA in 1988, but in California it was not made into law until 2009. They were one of the last states. The States typically follow what the AICPA/NASBA approve but they don't have to.
To be fair, many states adopted within a couple years, or even before 1988. But I used California as an example that it can take a while.
@@JPThomasCPA Oh wow. Hope they adopt it fast! I'm in a pickle because I don't want to waste anymore time but if it will change eventually I don't want to spend the thousands of dollars.
Do you have to take all of the non core tests?
@@puppyhair9997 No, you only pick 1 of the Non-Core Discipline exams. So 3 core exams plus 1 discipline exam equals 4 exams total!
Thank you. I'll be attempting my first exam soon. Can you make a video on how to use Excel and a calculator in the exam?
Would love to! If you use Becker, I believe the tools they have in their program are similar to exam day. Also, by using this AICPA practice exam, you can practice with the exact tools you have on exam day.
You are doing great work. Keep it up. Could you also make videoes on Exam day tips.
Thanks for the comment! That is a great idea - I will be sure to add that to the queue. Meanwhile - I am recording a video today on Best Exam Order. Should be up later this week!
@fifervideos5971 Just released a video on Exam Day Tips!
As always you taught and presented the information so well! I'm taking the Intermediate Financial Accounting 1 at school right now, and it didn't go over much about bonds yet. But I already learned a lot from you :) Thanks so much for making the video! Could you maybe talk about some Taxation topics sometime when you get a chance (if possible)?
Thanks for the kind words! What parts of taxation would you like to see? There are many different topics and areas!
@@JPThomasCPA could you maybe talk about the section 1245 Recapture if possible? :)
For those of us that have a bachelor degree plus a masters accounting degree from a British university and don’t receive the same credits after the transcripts are transferred to American credit equivalent this is great news!! This would save us from having to complete a second masters 😅
That would be a huge relief! And I had never thought of that specific scenario before. Thanks for sharing.
I started studying for FAR last week using Gleim and I'm aiming to take my first exam mid-late January. That's really impressive that studying a third of your intended hours you got such a high score. When you took your first exam, did you feel like you have a good, comprehensive understanding of ALL the material? Also, did you feel like the MCQs prepared you the best for the exam (this is what most people claim is the best way to study)?
Thanks for your comment! I will say that what gave me confidence was my improved performance on practice MCQs when reviewing. In addition, Becker had 2 simulated exams that mimic the real exam in format and length. I also performed well on these. As far as best way to study, I took a well rounded approach. I did all lectures on Becker, all MCQs, and all SIMS. Once I had completed all material, I was going back and doing practice sets of MCQ to review in an efficient manner. In this sense I would say the MCQ are valuable - to review more material quicker. But don't cast aside the lectures or SIMS. You need to be comfortable answering SIMS in an open ended fashion. Any more questions let me know!
I will also say that I did not necessarily have a comprehensive understanding of ALL or 100% of the material. The exam is just simple too broad. I definitely had weak areas but overall I felt confident.
@@JPThomasCPA Thanks! I think the best way I learn is by doing MCQs and reading the concepts behind them to really understand why I do what.
Yep reading the answer explanations is really important, especially when you get a problem wrong! Definitely take the time to understand before moving on.
Who would you have claimed on your taxes before 1987??
Great Video JP- C Ring

Thank you so much for the positive feedback! If there is any specific content you would like to see, please let me know!
Based on the failure rate alone, I think passing the exam is all that should be required.
The CPA Exam is definitely rigorous!
What's your opinion on the NEW 120 Hour Pathway?
just a question. Does prior year work experiences count? Or experience should be after registering for CPA?
Great question! Per the current draft of rules, Yes. Prior work experience counts if the CPA certifying your experience finds it satisfied the experience based competencies.
i want to know , they ask this long para question 🤔 ? whats the length of question thay ask, 3 to 4 line?
The questions can vary greatly! This example was exaggerated, but in many cases they can be anywhere around 3-10 lines. Sometimes it will be a a few lines but then a large table with data. Regardless of how long the question is, I have always found it beneficial to find and read the question first!
@@JPThomasCPA thank you great 🤝🏻
