standing stitches
This is how I make the standing stitches at the start of the row.
This method replaces the usual chains to get the height of the stitches and looks much better.

stained glass lattice crochet mug cosy .

This is how I have adapted the lattice stitch to have a black lattice over a coloured base to look like stained glass window panels. In this video I have used the pattern in a mug cosy with a solid base. It is a long video but it takes you right to the finish of the mug cosy. You can learn the stitch variation before the end of the video.

Well explained! Thank you
Brilliant. Thank you
Thank you for your instructions, very helpful. Would like to know - where did you find the thumb thimbles?
They are braces not thimbles. I got them through my occupational therapist.
@@suedzine I hope they are helping, thank you for clarifying. My shuttle slips out of my grip from time to time, was thinking this might be a fix. Do you have any suggestions for this? Thank you in advance.
@@gramaah my hands are much better these days and I don’t need the braces much. You could try using bigger shuttles or put some texture on yours so you don’t drop them as much. Nail polish in dots is easy to do on the shuttle.
@@suedzine good ideas, I will experiment. Thank you.
Thank you for the interesting video. I am new to tatting and am interested in the accessory you are wearing on your thumbs. What are they for and how do they help you?
Hi Sue they are braces to stop my thumbs bending backwards. For a long time I couldn’t tat without them but now I’m fine. They were recommended by an osteopath.
@@suedzine Thanks, glad your are doing better now.
Can you please tell me and others how do I count my blanket to decrease do I count from the first block or to count from the top peaks I hope that makes sense thankyou.....Jenny
Hi Jenny I measure across the flat side not across the jagged edge(where you are working looks like jagged steps). If you need a specific number of rows you count the number of blocks across the straight side, but I prefer to measure it. Different yarn, hooks and tension makes different lengths for everybody so the number of rows you get in a specific measurement will change from one project to another.
This helps alot! Thank you
How would I start the 4th row?
Hi, I like this way of ending a piece. Could you tell me about what is on your thumbs? I think it is something that would help my thumbs. thanks much. Anita
Anita Humphries they are braces I got from the occupational therapist. I have to use them when I do fine work as my thumbs don’t work well holding small things.
@@suedzine Thank you I would love to have a pair! my thumbs are getting old...lol
How would you make a strait edge on a Tunisian chevron stitch? The same way?
If you are wanting to fill in the dips you can use this method.
@@suedzine Thank you so much!!! There is not a video on UA-cam that I can find for the Tunisian chevron st with a flat edge. Do you think you could make one? Thank you! I am using Naztazia pattern.
Sorry my video camera died years ago and I cannot do more videos.
@@suedzine sorry to hear that. Thanks for your help. I greatly appreciate it!
In the second (and subsequent) row(s), so you so single or double crochets into each stitch?
On the row with the black lattice stitch the colour stitch is a double crochet in our terms or a single crochet in USA terms. On the return row you work into each stitch in treble in our terms or double in USA terms.
I'm going to have to try this what a great way weave in ends
Fantastic I can't stop.thanks
Very good, you have shown very clearly how to decrease... thank you.
Great method! If you could upload it with better quality it'd be great as I can't see what you are doing
I’m sorry I no longer have the technology to upload a video. This is as good as I can do.
Hi I like your tutorial very much. Could you tell me where I can get a pattern please?
This video and the rest in the series are the only pattern I have.
Hola m encanta tu trabajo Una pregunta son 5 filas pero son 7 puntos en esa part me confundo Muchos saludos desde Ecuador
I am sorry I don't understand your language.
I see that this works well on 5 x 5 squares. Will it work the same way if i did 25 x 25 squares?
Yes it works the same you will just have to start with a longer chain to get the size square you wish.
Pls check the volume..not able to hear properly
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I just finished my first triangle and it turned out perfectly.
Video is a big rainy and shaky, but I got the idea pretty quickly. Thank you.
Oh my goodness, thank you sooo much. I am just starting the decrease row, first c2c, and I've watched too many videos. Your video is the only one that helped me. Thank you so much. Now I get it
how many chains do I have to chain for 30 boxes
Hi Luke you only have to chain for each square as you make it with this method. The starting row is another video please watch it to learn the first row, this video is row 2.

I will be starting a c2c blanket and very much appreciate your instructions. Thank you.
how do u know when its big enough to start decreasing im doing a lap blanket so how many blocks before i start decreasing?
How to stop increasing for a square
Why do it this way? Is this a faster way? It seems more complicated, but if people are doing it this way, it must be better some how. Why?
It is faster and easier to join as you make the squares than to sew them together when you are finished. You can get a different pattern by making squares where the stripes can go in different directions than if you make the blanket in one big square.
How do you know what side to Dec first?I have it as wide as I want it.
You can decrease on the next row if it is as wide as you want. If you are making a rectangle be sure you decrease on the same side and keep increasing on the other side.
I just watched all three parts and it all made sense. Hopefully I don't overthink it if I decide to do this for a blanket and get completely lost! Thank you for the videos.
where did you get that hook?? I want it!!
It is a handle you put your hook into. It is made by Boye it is an ergonomic crochet handle.
Did you start in the FIRST chain from the hook or the SECOND?
It is the second back bump from the hook. Getting under the first one is very hard. If it is easier count 6 from the start.
Approximately for a baby lap blanket when do you start decreasing I had started decreasing & ran out of yarn which as going to be to long anyway so I had to take out a lot of rows:( thanking you
is there a way to join onto 2 sides on the decrease?
Hi Tineka it is VERY awkward to decrease join both sides but can be done. Just do the decrease join on both sides, you will have very little room to work as you work down to the point. If it was my square I would try to make it from the opposite corner and have the joins on the increase. Good luck!
how do u dobit if u need vertical stitches first?
If you need vertical first join to the corner and chain 3 then join to the space between your blocks. ch3 for stitch height turn and work back into the loop you just made. You are just doing what I show for the second block first.
I looked at videos 1 and 2. Thank you for your comments.
Do you have a video on how to make a 3-d entralac blanket?
No I have not.
Are you making an entralac blanket in a rectangle form? How many blocks are you ma king?
This is just a small piece for the video. You can make it as wide and long as you want. Start from the first video and you just work it as long as you like.
When you do the edging so early on,does it make the blanket more difficult to follow through?
+Beverlywood Wiod I don't understand what you mean. This is the fourth video in the entrelac series. Start with row 1 then work row 2 and 3. Repeat rows 2&3 as long as you want the blanket. Finish with this edging video when you have made the blanket. The piece in the video is just for teaching the method.
I get so confused on this part. You make it look so easy. You do beautiful work.
It was very confusing to me at first too. Sometimes I still have to redo bits. Keep trying and watch the video, it will click into your mind and then be easier.
First, I don't know where to begin the afghan or which way to work it... Bottom row join , second row join to first, etc... Or am I joining square panels of 4 c2c blocks and joining those to other panels of 4 c2c blocks. It isn't clear to me (maybe I'm just dense). But when I did do a joining square, I found that on some joining squares, when I was increasing up the previous square, there was already a ch3 from the previous block on the previous c2c square. To make the first increase block, do I ch3, sl St between the blocks, ch3 for the height and go through BOTH ch3 spaces or just the ch3 Spc I just made. Or am I doing it wrong altogether?
Hi Jennifer. This video is how to join as you go when making squares. You need to have a square made first then this shows how to make and join the second square. When you already have a chain loop on the square already made you do NOT work into it, only work into the ch loop on the square you are making.
+SueDZine I've made c2c before. I'm working on one now. I have a row of six joining as I go, was able to start the next row, but now that I have that first square of the second row done, there's no way to keep on with it.
Do you have a pattern/design for the Christmas afghan you're making? I think if I follow your pattern and video I can figure out exactly how you're working it. The join as you go part is easy, but I want to try another pattern square, and I can't seem to get the join as you go stitches to line up vertical/horizontal, horizontal/vertical. I figure that if I can follow your Christmas afghan from the beginning, I will have a better idea of what I need to do to create the design I want.
Maybe you have a website or something.
+Jennifer White (Jenntrain) Hi Jenny to get the correct alignment you have to be careful in the placement of the first block. I don't have a pattern as such nor do I have a website. I do have a facebook page and may be able to help more through messages there. For the next square I have another video, there are 3 videos on joining altogether.
hi my name is Esra how can i getir this could you help me?
I cannot hear one word you say my equipment is all turned as high as it will go. The transcript does not help. Weird words not much sense. Pos. equipment can't hear in order to create it. Sorry.
Hi thank you so much I would like to know we're do you start. Thank know how to crochet c2c stitch but I would like to know how did you start joining thanks again
Hi there. The first part is in video number 1 this is part 2 of 3 videos on joining c2c squares.
Thank you so much for explaining this in a way I could understand. I was completely stumped over how to end my c2c throw, watch 3 other videos and none explained it so I could understand. You did, and I think you very much :-) Greetings from Canada!
Thanks for for explaining in nice way. Con we make poncho with this stich thanks
You can make any square or rectangle in this method.

Hello Dorreen. While the magic thread may work for you it can distort the tatting and requires you to tatt over another thread while you work. A lot of people have great trouble with remembering to place the extra threads, getting them to pull through smoothly or them breaking while pulling. This method doesn't require planning and placing extra threads and once you learn it can be used with very fine threads.
While this video clearly explains and demonstrates this method, there is another, faster method which also will hide the ends and doesn't require any sewing. That means that there is no chance the threads will be split. The other method is called the "Magic Thread" method and is also in a UA-cam video offered by Tatted Treasures. Either method will look just as lovely, but sometimes it is nice to have an alternative, so I thought I would mention it.

I sew in a little differently but will try this the next time I have to end something. Great video, thanks!!!
