    My question is , how do you , at the end of the day, boiling, finish off the boiling pan with out burning the pan,. So you draw off the 219 degree finished sap off the pan , the pan level drops, how do you not burn the pan when you have the level so low, or do you fill the pan back up and save it once it cools might take he's for the fire to cool down and not boil

    Do you sterilize your glass bottles and lids. I have new bottles and lids.

    • @sugarshacknation2644
      @sugarshacknation2644 Рік тому

      You always want to use new lids. If I reuse bottles I will boil them for about 15 min. If using new bottles I will use them out of the box. Then I fill the bottles at 180 degrees, cap them, lay them on there side. This process sterilizes them after you fill them. Hope this helps.

      When I'm filtering out of the pan it's more as a pre filter. Then I boil it down in a pot to get the consistency right wher I want it. Then filter it to bottle it...

      If I know I'm not going to boil for a couple days due to weather, I will empty the pan into a bucket and give it a quick wash out then add it back in when I get more sap and ready to boil again.

    @timberframer9 my pan is a 2x3 Badgerland Mapleworks. I believe they are related to Smokey Lake Maple Works. It is a great pan. Divided and you can have valves on each side. This year I went with a 2x3XL Mason arch that is sitting under it. Stay tuned for a video...

    • @MrChristopoop
      @MrChristopoop 3 роки тому

      I wish I had jumped on one of the smaller Smokey lake pans from a few years ago. They used to sell them on EBay for a really nice price. They are a bit more expensive now. Worth it at both price areas, but they were attainable for a bit less a few years ago. Seems their secret got out because I checked their website out last year and they definitely appear to have grown. Small batching syrup is a ton of fun, also allows you to do other stuff in meantime. For half the day I could check sap boiling way less often than I would have had to check on my kids when they were younger through out the day!
